I took a drum clinic way back in the 80s with Heart's original drummer Michael Derosier in Long Beach, California. He was very nice and I learned some grooves from him. I drove my Moms Ford LTD station wagon, a brown armored tank cruising the Los Angeles freeways hahaha
Ngl, I’ve worked as a professional drummer for years, mainly doing jazzy, neo soul kinda stuff, but I recently joined a 70s rock function band. I greatly underestimated the complexity of this song! The way the drums fluidly go from 4/4 to 5/4 then later 7 is lovely! I never noticed the complexity of this song until playing it!!
Thanks for the breakdown! I always thought he was doing a couple of extra beats on the kick (similar to Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song) but now I see it’s a bit simpler.
I actually lol’d at “that little triplet bit is a classic bucket of fish”. You need to make a video of all of these sayings back to back.
😂 It’s extra ironic on a song called Barracuda.
But between the Pat Boon Betty Boons and bucket o fishes that’s nearly all the fills you need!
dude, excellent lessons... no dicking around no amercian long speak dribble, just straight to the point and accurate... thanks mate

Undeniable Bonham influence on this track though. It’s very cool! 🥁🥁
Thanks
No worries, great track for drumming to! 🥁🥁
I'm not a drummer but I need to learn this in three-ish months
Wish me luck!
Its been three months. Have you got it down?
