Drove the ORA today. It was a 300 Pro which claims to do around 310 km according to WLTP. I´ve managed to reach 306 km which is literally spot on. There´s a Long Range version called 400 and it can do almost 250 miles. It kills ID3 in terms of interior quality and the equipment is more Tesla than VW or Mini. The only option on ORA seems to extened range and metallic paint. Everything else is standard, even heated, ventilated seats with massage function. It had full LEDs and electric tailgate. The key is really chunky, though. It beats MG4 in terms of comfort, interior quality and tech. The 300 lacks range to it, but 400 is up there. My only complaints are slight wind noise, small boot and that it defaults its Drive Mode every time I start it. It isn´t the funniest car to drive but it feels settled, calm and relaxed. £35k for one? I would sacrifice the boot capacity, range and take this over ID3 which is a more practical but also a cheap plastic box. Many people stopped and some even came to me and we had a chat about this car. Even young ´´gangsta´´ people liked it.
This is a weird one. From the outside it looks like one of those no-name concept electric cars made by small companies that mix and match parts from random older cars. But seeing all those tech features and really lovely interior, it's like a completely different car on the inside - definitely a funky design!
To have actually test driven it in China and Thailand, I very confident to say that it's a great in town and highway drive ( 110km/h ~) feels really good. Car felt planted . The Interior feels really premium but the visibility was by far my favorite, super easy to drive and feel the corners of the car. Don't know what the euro price will be exactly but in Thai baht converted they offered prices around 25k€.
I still think it looks like a cross between the Opel Adam and the Alfa romeo mito😅. The voice system is amazing. Lovely tech city car... And again, Thats a GWM😱

@@insevanhouts you can do so safely in ICE cars. We do it all the time in India because we have constructions everywhere and they strew construction materials on the road, inside car parks, basically anywhere you can take your car so we either have to drive over them deliberately and in some cases during night we might accidentally drive over concrete blocks/iron rods.
@@burneraccount4755 This has nothing to do with the type of propellant your vehicle uses, but rather the ground clearance. Cracked oil pans due to road debris are a common occurrence in ICE cars, and ofter cause a totalled engine. "The oil pan is about the lowest part of your engine, hanging down more or less unprotected on the bottom of the engine between your front wheels, usually. A high, hard projection in the road (or offroad path) such as a rock can do it when struck at modest speeds. Some cars the oil pan clearance is only a few inches although offroad vehicles generall have higher clearances (and in some cases, shields), a sports car intended for road use can have only a few inches. Even running over a curb the long ways could hit it." EVs often offer (titanium) protection layers to protect the battery from this specific risk.
Hi there - love the channel but one video I'd love you to do is to discuss the merits of new vs used electric cars. For example - I could go to a dealer with a shiny brand new Ora Funky Cat for £32,000 ish. I'd get that great-looking interior (with it's fiddly touchscreen) but only 193 claimed miles on a full charge (and in the news today 130 in winter). Or - I could go to a dealer today and pick up any of the following: a 2022 Cupra Born for £29,740 (22,000 miles driven, 265 miles claimed) a 2021 VW id3 for £24,490 (37,000 miles driven, same 265 miles claimed) a Citroen eC4 for £22,499 (13,515 miles driven, 217 miles claimed) and the list goes on. All of the secondhand ones in my list are cheaper and have better range. Once the new Funky Cat comes out with the bigger battery and 260 miles claimed it'll be more expensive and make the Cupra Born a bargain in comparison. Plus then it will start to come up against secondhand Ioniq 5's.... So - new? Or secondhand? Looking forward to that one! PS fancy sending someone to Ireland to test drive the bigger range Funky Cat which does come with heated seats and other extras? It is on sale on their website right now - but not here.
It’s always interesting to see how many times carwow changes their video titles (and thumbnails), before finally settling for one which they think will bring in the most clicks.

Just bought the new updated 2024 Thai Ora Cat (LFP battery, USB-c, steering gears, updated 50W wireless charging, Apple /Android play ,etc). And yes, the mirror now has lights! The range also is now closer to 480km per charge (NEDC), so real world range would be around 400km. In the past 6 months, I rented the Ora Ultra 500 two times and drove to the mountainous Chiangmai from Bangkok. From Chiangmai, the Ora made more than >1000 bends up and down the mountains with ease to the town of Maehongsong. Even drove from the town of Pai to Rak Thai (which has no EV chargers) and survived the trip without the car running out of juice. The second time, I took the Ora to the East of Thailand into the town of Chong Mek (Border town Thailand-Laos). Along the way, I drove on big highways in Nakhon Ratchashima region with ease. Leaving most of the Toyotas, Hondas and 3.0 Isuzu pickup trucks in the dust (although I couldn't catch up with Teslas and BYD Seals). Drove great on the bad condition roads in Laos also with ease and comfort. All in all, I got so impressed that I eventually bought one TODAY (25/May 2024). Great car!

Many people stopped and some even came to me and we had a chat about this car. Even young ´´gangsta´´ people liked it.
the voice assistant is amazing!!
This is a weird one. From the outside it looks like one of those no-name concept electric cars made by small companies that mix and match parts from random older cars.
But seeing all those tech features and really lovely interior, it's like a completely different car on the inside - definitely a funky design!
This new ORA Funky Cat looks so smart!
Are you blind?
To have actually test driven it in China and Thailand, I very confident to say that it's a great in town and highway drive ( 110km/h ~) feels really good. Car felt planted . The Interior feels really premium but the visibility was by far my favorite, super easy to drive and feel the corners of the car. Don't know what the euro price will be exactly but in Thai baht converted they offered prices around 25k€.
10:50 as a german i‘d like to say a big thank you for this test🙋♂️😅👍LMAO🤣🤣
This is the funniest car review ever , Matt you are the Bomb
Scam
The accent part was hilarious 😂
I still think it looks like a cross between the Opel Adam and the Alfa romeo mito😅. The voice system is amazing. Lovely tech city car... And again, Thats a GWM😱
Great review, so many more pros and cons pointed out compared to other reviewsI have seen.
it might not be the best looking car exterior wise but god damn that interior looks luxurious
I’m Singaporean after 6 months living with it!! I dare give this Ora 8.5/10 and impatiently waiting for their Ora Lighthing hope to get it mid 2023 if I’m lucky ie.
Friend: “What is that car you brought mate?”
Me: “Funky Cat” 😂
Funky Cat Medina
I quite like this car. The interior & exterior both look great. Love the red & cream two tone design _!_
Sacha chan, i bet Kanon Shibuya loves this ORA FUNKY CAT Compact Car.
The Scottish accent got me😂😂😂😂
I like the Ora Funky Cat and see loads of them here in China, but they are a lot cheaper here. They start at £22.000 which is a better price for this car.
This ORA Funky is a really good product from China, Its simple, user friendly, easy to operate,
interior is also has a premium look and feel. Overall the best car for the money. Finally you have to work on your priorities. you have the MG 3, VW ID-3, The Peugeot 208.
I do like it. Reminds me of the Mini and VW Beetle
The Ora Punk Cat is very close resemble to the old Beetle
@@supreme_xenon this car also resembled Supermini from BURNOUT PS2.
It very much looks like a vauxhall Adam imo, just bigger, really love the interior in the cat too.
Vauxhall Adam? Man, thats a very rare car to find.
And also vary similar to the new Smart #1
@@purwantiallan5089 I would of thought that as well at one point but there are loads on the road in my area at the moment. Almost as common as the Fiat 500. Guessing when they got discontinued they popped up in some of the car supermarkets. Always liked the styling
How on earth was a comparison not drawn between this and a Vauxhall Adam?
More like Vauxhall/Opel e-corsa
I have found, over a period of more than 50 years, that smaller cars have a larger turning circle than a much larger car. A very good illustration of this is the way my father’s Zephyr 6 turned like a London Taxi, while mother’s Morris Mini Minor took several turns to make it turn about on a major road!!
Love the design. Execution not perfect. But a lot of people are going to buy this because they’ve fallen in love with it.
To be honest I was excited when I heard the Ora was being released in the UK because they promised it to be the most affordable EV…then last year their marketing was leaning towards MG pricing at the cheaper end. Now they’ve released it, it’s expensive.
A missed opportunity to dominate the market.
Oh well, will hold onto my cash till a mini suv ev is released for 22k
Spot on comment. They've marked it up hugely. Not a bad car but the price is a con. I'll take a Mini Countryman EV between £30-40K, not this.
They did. Try the Dacia Spring. Mini little ev suv and cheap.
@@gigelfranaru I would, it’s not sold here tho
I don't think they marked it up. It's just the realities of a Chinese firm selling overseas: tariffs
@@HaydenLau. From £16k to £30k plus? No, they put an extra margin on it as well. Good luck to them, I don't think they will sell well at that pricing point compared to MG and others.
Looks like mix between Alfa MiTo and Mini and I kinda like it
Or hybrid combination of Toyota Pod.
It's actually quite a nice vehicle and I loved the assistant 5x better than most other cars' built in ones
Yep. All in one.
CHINA IS A FASCIST TOTALITARIAN REGIME ! ALWAYS LIVING AND PROPAGATING LIES ! ALWAYS MANIPULATING; INDOCTRINATING AND LURING IN PEOPLE THEIR OWN NATION _ ITS A CRIMINAL POLICE STATE ! WE SHOULD STOP ANY PRODUCTION ANY CONTACT TO THIS NATION ! TO PREVENT THE INTOXINATION OF THE REST OF THE WORLD BY FASCIST!
I’m sold on this car. Really, interesting.
Kudos on affordability. I have to appreciate the price-point.
Can’t complain about the use of USB ports, given the prevalence in the current real-world.
I’m hesitant buying from an autocratic regime with civil liberty problems. I need to sneak that little comment in.
(Should I be keeping the two topics separate, the car and who makes it? I …honestly don’t know.)
But…having been born in Texas…I’d rather save up & spend the cash on my darling
Dream Car. ( The Model 3 High Performance. Hottest dang car on Earth.) I guess you can just call me “Homie”. [Shout out to Austin.]
I wonder what are the unpublishable reasons why Carwow has recommended us to BUY garbage cars like MINIs but recommended us just to CONSIDER this Euro NCAP finalist and superbly well finished GWM Ora Funky Cat.
This should have been a £25k vehicle all day long imo. Cheers
Exactly. It's biggest competitor (obstacle?) will be the MG4 at a starting price of £26k....... £32k for what this car offers seems too pricey.
I live in China. A colleage of mine had this car. She ran over a boulder (or some large chuck of concrete) the size of a football and dented the floor. The insurance company write it off because of coolant of the battery pack was damaged.
It's almost like you shouldn't drive over concrete boulders!
Even running over a curb the long ways could hit it."
EVs often offer (titanium) protection layers to protect the battery from this specific risk.
Very well blended different styles. Love it!
Honestly speaking this car is just CUTE and ADOREBALE!
Or - I could go to a dealer today and pick up any of the following:
a 2022 Cupra Born for £29,740 (22,000 miles driven, 265 miles claimed)
a 2021 VW id3 for £24,490 (37,000 miles driven, same 265 miles claimed)
a Citroen eC4 for £22,499 (13,515 miles driven, 217 miles claimed)
and the list goes on.
Bloody hell that Chinese salamander is nuts 😮
09:47 Matt's funnest voice control test LOL Very good :)
if it had 650km of range on the freeway and much faster charging, this thing would be great
Its a city car man, not a truck... What the heck. Not even tesla does 650km range on the highway...
No such car exist at this price point
Yeah that would be very cool for the 3 people in this world who need to go more than 650 kilometers in one go every other day
In Mexico it is called Ora O3, we don't get the face recognition system but we get the panoramic sunroof and electric boot lid
Loved the German accent!!!! :)))) Please more videos like this!
Just when I thought I would never be able to afford a new EV ,along comes the Funky Cat!
The MG4 is cheaper
@@_B.M_ £5000 cheaper
Take a look at the MG4 Joe. It starts at £5000 less.....
It's quite expensive, even for an EV.
They should have made it a rear wheel drive.
Hey mat love form india 🇮🇳
R u Xavier?
🇵🇰
Was just waiting for yours 😭
You’re the best
The design of the interior is like a modern retro. Has serious mid 1900s vibes and I dig it
It’s always interesting to see how many times carwow changes their video titles (and thumbnails), before finally settling for one which they think will bring in the most clicks.
The crash test for this model was good. Nice car.
Haval and GWM has been in South Africa for a few years now, they are very reliable and safe cars. They are on the top 10 most sold new cars in SA every month. We only have the hybrid Havals for now, cant wait for the fully electric cars to arrive
Great car!
This is interesting…how come Thailand gets an updated version with extended range and Australia do not?
