  • INVALID TRAFFIC attacks are hitting creators & channels throughout the RUclips Community. RUclips has been silent on the matter. Who or what is causing this and why? I have a THEORY.
    9/22/2023 UPDATE: Rene Ritchie, RUclips Liaison, is aware of "Invalid Traffic" Problem and has spoken briefly about it. He invites creators who have been hit by "Invalid Traffic" message to reach out to him on Twitter or his other social media accounts.

    You nailed the first part, only certain Channel types are impacted, you are spot on there.
    But another thing that folks are not paying attention to is the ratio of Subscriber count to average views per video. That could be confusing the algo a bit. so, if that ratio is less than a certain value, that channel could be targeted.
    Example: 250,000 subscribers average views per video is 7K - 8K, OR say 50K subs and average view per video is 1-2K or less
    But great job in nailing the "Channel Type" that is SPOT ON!! SO many people making the same content (How to grow on RUclips, product review, talking head videos, tutorials for iPhone apps or video editing apps, etc. etc. This could be RUclips's way of saying "be creative", "be unique" or do it for free. If you want to get paid, then advertise (I see that such creators are seeing "Advertise on RUclips" link in their RUclips studio)
    I also hear that sponsors are focusing on targeted audience, there is an excellent video on that topic by a former RUclips employee. Apparently, RUclips is being forced to give the money back to sponsors because of this.
    Anyway, Goodluck to you, hope all this nonsense will be resolved soon.

      This situation isn't my biggest concern because I am a small channel but I do wish that RUclips themselves would speak out. Right now, from what I can tell, every creator is seeing a small piece of it. Only RUclips has the bigger picture and the data of what is happening.

    Hello Matthew , this whole invalid traffic stuff is crazy man . As you know I've been watching RUclips videos since 2015 and I've seen quite a few content creators go through similar stuff that you just mentioned. Sorry that it has happened to you now and thanks for continuing to share your experiences with us listeners and those that are new to RUclips .Well done my friend! 😊

      Hi Garry, good to see you! As a small channel, I never heard of this before. But suddenly the past couple of weeks, word has been getting around! As I said in the video, I want RUclips to acknowledge this and provide some information. They are being so quiet about this despite so many complaints.

    Thank you for taking the time to share your theory. As I watched your video, something quite different occurred to me as a possible source of the invalid traffic. As a tiny creator without monetization, I haven't been hit with this issue yet. One possible alternative theory, triggered by another channel's video where RUclips indicated that they had to refund ad revenue is..
    "What if the advertisers themselves are engaging the services of bad actors so that they can have their ad served for a few days, and then "DISCOVER" issues which causes RUclips to have to refund all ad charges for that video. Thus, they get their ad served to the initial surge of viewers for free."
    Just a thought.

      I don't think advertisers would do this but anything is possible. Again, RUclips is not being forthcoming. Everyone is trying to figure things out based on small nuggets of info.

    Stay strong hun... Also hit with that a month ago...
    FYI- invalid traffic can escalate to losing your adsense account- meaning- if this happens you won't be earning money from channel members...
    I took my traffic to Patreon & substack...

      Yes, I see that bigger channels take big hits to income. However, I didn't know there are people who can lose their Adsense account! That sounds frightening! It is smart to get income elsewhere. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

      @@MattCommand1 it’s on the invalid traffic FAQ page
      It clearly says that invalid traffic can lead to-
      Loss of revenue, 90 days delay in payment, loss of Adsense account.

    • @MattCommand1
      @MattCommand1  11 месяцев назад

      @@MeyTribe I missed that. What I was thinking mostly is that I haven't actually heard of a real-life cases where someone's Adsense was shutdown. I've heard LOTS of complaints of revenue losses so far. I've not heard of delayed payments or the loss of Adsense account which seems quite extreme.

      @@MattCommand1 do u think we will get our $ back? It rightfully belongs to us ….. my revenue was up to over 500$ and then the next day adjusted to 300 then down to 100. RUclips literally is taking my money from me

    • @MattCommand1
      @MattCommand1  11 месяцев назад

      @@kantnergirl08 RUclips determines what is valid & invalid traffic. They say they are not going to pay anyone where traffic is faked. As far as I can tell, I've not heard much direct info from RUclips. We don't have access to the data they have. Not much we can do except complain right now. So, the losses are gone in my opinion.

    RUclips sux. It's not good to rely on it for your living. They pay lots of staff, but have no humans working. Help page 😂😂😂 Btw, if an ad is like 12 seconds long, I probably didn't watch the video despite having clicked. But I'm just 1 viewer.

      I don't have that worry about "making a living" on RUclips at the moment. I get my gas money paid with what I make on RUclips paid as a small channel. However, most RUclips creators aspire to do something more than make gas money! But there are much larger creators who have really been damaged by this which is very disconcerting.

    Just hide all the traffic that has traffic from the foreign countries like the Philippines, china, Korea, and any number of countries that has gotten you a significant amount of views. make sure to mark them as unlisted.

    • @MattCommand1
      @MattCommand1  10 месяцев назад +1

      I don't understand what you mean by hiding traffic from foreign countries. I don't believe creators have the ability to stop or control views. Can you clarify what you mean?
