Younger generations don't fully understand just how much of a legend GD is. I heard about GD and BigBang 11 years ago, in a time when I didn't even know what kpop was. I was absolutely in love with his solo work and still am. Saying that he has changed the kpop industry as a whole is no understatement, this man's talent and charisma still has no match. Fellow v.i.p!!!! Since 2006 😊 saw his lil collab with taeyang when they were small too and i always been a fan. Their music just vibes. Its so amazing seeing people know about kpop when during our time it was unheard of. I remember my friends in middle school, 2005 ish, id show them kpop and they would laugh at it. My lil sis was born that year. Now shes 14 and her friends and most classmates like Korean music so its such a contrast. They love the newer groups of course. But still its nice seeing how far its come.

I’m talking about kpop as a whole, they created lightsticks, therefore the fan ocean thing, also they made mini-albums a thing, they were the first to experiment with EDM sound (fantastic baby) that then became a thing in kpop, they are one of the most experimental kpop groups (if not the most) r&b, pop, hiphop, edm, trap and more. They make the word “maknae” a trend, they started the trend of rap based songs, they even make the position “rapper” a thing, they broke the stereotypes of Korean beauty, they proved that “ugly” persons could be idols, And I can go on...what I mean is that they basically shaped K-POP, every kpop group still follows everything that they have done
GDragon and Big Bang are the reason that so many of the younger groups have the level of success internationally that is currently trending. You can hear groups like BTS even talk about how much influence Big Bang has had on them. They made and broke the mold for KPOP in the Western World. As an American, I had never even heard of KPOP until hearing of Big Bang and watching their success. And I am so glad they were my first real introduction into KPOP because if I had heard some of the other groups first, I would not be as big of a supporter. They stood out from all of the other artists because they wrote and produced their own music. They weren't just flashy dancers like some of the newer groups. Their live performances are second to none, I have never seen a more dynamic stage presence than these guys deliver. And JiYong's writing abilities......let's face it.......he can write rap, hip hop, R&B, ballads, pop and rock. I hope Big Bang comes back, even if they have to do it with only four members. There would be a huge hole in the KPOP scene without these legendary OG's. 💖🎤💖

But what OP said is a fact. BTS was influenced by Big Bang, a lot of the members are known as being fans of BB. I think it's important to recognize that groups like Big Bang really helped open the door for BTS worldwide. When Big Bang was starting off, the kpop scene was a different battlefield. I also don't think this minimizes BTS' hardwork. BTS was able to use the opportunities that groups like Big Bang made possible for them, to grow and become who they are today. They worked hard to get their name out there. I'm not a BTS fan, but I can recognize that.

Just the name GDragon fills my heart..A lot of younger generation idols and groups are already making kpop bigger. EXO, BTS, BP and many more. They've broke records and are already well known internationally. But no one comes close to GD's reputation when it comes to the kpop industry. He earned respect from his co artists and producers by working hard on his music. And that's a lot more significant than the fame and wealth he has now.

I went to one of the concerts in his M.O.T.T.E. Tour, and one of the concerts in Taeyang’s White Night tour. Both were amazing. Their stage presence was phenomenal. Hearing and seeing them perform live was astounding. Being part of the yellow ocean and singing along with other VIPs was such a wonderful experience. Many of us including me cried when they sung songs like Haru Haru, Last Dance, and Untitled. This just goes to prove that BigBang are kings. I can’t wait to attend a BigBang concert 🥰
Those concerts would have been amazing! I went to the bigbang MADE tour and to this day it is still my favourite concert ever. I think you'd agree with me when I say EVERY FAN NEEDS TO EXPERIENCE HARU HARU LIVE! They let the audience sing to them while they sit there and take it all in. it's hauntingly beautiful.

I was stageside for the MADE tour in Jersey, and saw GD in Houston for his solo tour. He is AWESOME. I stayed at his parents' pension when I went to South Korea, played with Gaho and just loved it. I am sad that BB most likely is defunct, but I take pride in having been a part of this story in a teeny tiny way. BTW. As of this posting, I am 58 yrs old.

I just became a Kpop fan through my teen daughter just awhile before the men of Big Bang enlisted, so I’ve had 2 years to get to know these guys and can I say I’m so excited they are coming to the US for Coachella to show everyone who the real kings are. Even though I may be older than the normal VIP I still consider myself one and love G-Dragon like crazy. Can’t wait for new music.
This is a really great video and helps to introduce GD to people who want to learn more about him. But this is only on the surface. He's dubbed as KING not only for his ability to produce amazing tracks and his extraordinary presence but also his contribution to the fashion industry (everything he wears becomes a trend and is sold out instantly) and KPOP in general. There are still many great things he has done that mold the whole KPOP industry as of today; eg. the first official lightstick was customized by him thus he started the customized lightstick trend for other groups. I remember being into k-pop for the longest time. My history with k-pop goes as far as 9 years. And i can tell you for sure, what made k-pop so famous internationally in the first place, started from BB's tonight and fantastic baby. I'm not into k-pop anymore because today's pop-culture's emphasis are on pretty boys and trying-too-hard to sound cool songs, but damn, looking back at BB now, i can still jump and dance to their amazing beat.
Big Bang and especially GDragon holds a huge part in my musical heart. They led my cringey confused 15 yrs old ass to kpop and kdrama. Glad I left that world before it got so badly corrupted, but I hope his comeback goes well

@@millasuini8307 from someone who is not as active in kpop anymore but spent every minute she had on it from 2017 to 2019, it was still really fun and alot of the the 2nd and few 3rd gen groups still had a connection with their audience because they had room to make mistakes and bring out bad songs and funny things that would get memed on but the competition between the groups or actually fandoms has gotten so toxic and unrecoverable making it less enjoyable. Now Im trying hard not to judge but all the groups coming out are so well rounded and good at everything and all look perfect which Is great but it leaves no room for artists to connect as humans with their fans or their music and the work they are putting out because they look unreachable and not human to many. The industry has kinda gone to shit concidering fans think they own the idols and can only uplift their own groups trough bringing down others. That's why I'm glad I'm out of that hole and can now just enjoy the music without the frustration. I just recently discovered BB and let's just say im in love with their music especially GD his voice and artistic output and value he has in his lyrics.

GDragon and Big Bang are the reason that so many of the younger groups have the level of success internationally that is currently trending. You can hear groups like BTS even talk about how much influence Big Bang has had on them. They made and broke the mold for KPOP in the Western World. As an American, I had never even heard of KPOP until hearing of Big Bang and watching their success. And I am so glad they were my first real introduction into KPOP because if I had heard some of the other groups first, I would not be as big of a supporter. They stood out from all of the other artists because they wrote and produced their own music. They weren't just flashy dancers like some of the newer groups. Their live performances are second to none, I have never seen a more dynamic stage presence than these guys deliver. And JiYong's writing abilities......let's face it.......he can write rap, hip hop, R&B, ballads, pop and rock.
I hope Big Bang comes back, even if they have to do it with only four members. There would be a huge hole in the KPOP scene without these legendary OG's. 💖🎤💖

But what OP said is a fact. BTS was influenced by Big Bang, a lot of the members are known as being fans of BB. I think it's important to recognize that groups like Big Bang really helped open the door for BTS worldwide. When Big Bang was starting off, the kpop scene was a different battlefield. I also don't think this minimizes BTS' hardwork. BTS was able to use the opportunities that groups like Big Bang made possible for them, to grow and become who they are today. They worked hard to get their name out there. I'm not a BTS fan, but I can recognize that.

They've broke records and are already well known internationally. But no one comes close to GD's reputation when it comes to the kpop industry. I went to one of the concerts in his M.O.T.T.E. Tour, and one of the concerts in Taeyang’s White Night tour. Both were amazing. Their stage presence was phenomenal. Hearing and seeing them perform live was astounding. Being part of the yellow ocean and singing along with other VIPs was such a wonderful experience. Many of us including me cried when they sung songs like Haru Haru, Last Dance, and Untitled. This just goes to prove that BigBang are kings. I can’t wait to attend a BigBang concert 🥰
Those concerts would have been amazing! I went to the bigbang MADE tour and to this day it is still my favourite concert ever. I think you'd agree with me when I say EVERY FAN NEEDS TO EXPERIENCE HARU HARU LIVE! They let the audience sing to them while they sit there and take it all in. it's hauntingly beautiful.

I was stageside for the MADE tour in Jersey, and saw GD in Houston for his solo tour. He is AWESOME. I stayed at his parents' pension when I went to South Korea, played with Gaho and just loved it. I am sad that BB most likely is defunct, but I take pride in having been a part of this story in a teeny tiny way. BTW. As of this posting, I am 58 yrs old.

I just became a Kpop fan through my teen daughter just awhile before the men of Big Bang enlisted, so I’ve had 2 years to get to know these guys and can I say I’m so excited they are coming to the US for Coachella to show everyone who the real kings are.

He is truly the king of K-POP as well as fashion trend.
This is a really great video and helps to introduce GD to people who want to learn more about him. But this is only on the surface. He's dubbed as KING not only for his ability to produce amazing tracks and his extraordinary presence but also his contribution to the fashion industry (everything he wears becomes a trend and is sold out instantly) and KPOP in general. There are still many great things he has done that mold the whole KPOP industry as of today; eg. the first official lightstick was customized by him thus he started the customized lightstick trend for other groups. His power influences many many younger idols/musicians. Let's face it that he and BIGBANG set the standard and change the game for KPOP.
Love the fact that GD himself makes kpop stans pressed af. He literally just breathes and watch them go crazy. The power he holds 😙 KING INDEED.

GD & Big Bang paved a New legendary way (why they are the first coined Kings of of Kpop, 2nd), at that time that had not been witnessed before. BTS paved a New Iconic, record breaking...groundbreaking, way that has not been done/seen before (Why they are the new reigning Kings of Kpop, 3rd gen).
They both are legends, they both broke barriers (BTS was inspired by Big Bang, they paid that homage countless times). BTS so far, made the greatest impact EVER...until the next group/act/gen comes along, taking it further...paving a newer way.
If we want to get technical...Seotaiji and Boys paved the way...and US Blacks/Latinos...paved the way by creating the Hip Hop genre & Pop infused style of music Periodt! Bottom line, you don't have to deem someone else's light, for your fav to shine.

G-Dragon from South Korea and Kenshi Yonezu from Japan are those talent who you find once in a century. GD: - writing, composing, producing almost all BB's songs, a fashonista, stylist, trendsetter who can compare in SK to him. No name comes to my mind.
Similarly Kenshi: a true musician as Japan describes at such young age. He also do everything, from writing to composing to mixing to concepts to drawing his albums...what not

I remember being into k-pop for the longest time. My history with k-pop goes as far as 9 years. And i can tell you for sure, what made k-pop so famous internationally in the first place, started from BB's tonight and fantastic baby. I'm not into k-pop anymore because today's pop-culture's emphasis are on pretty boys and trying-too-hard to sound cool songs, but damn, looking back at BB now, i can still jump and dance to their amazing beat.
Big Bang and especially GDragon holds a huge part in my musical heart. They led my cringey confused 15 yrs old ass to kpop and kdrama. Glad I left that world before it got so badly corrupted, but I hope his comeback goes well
I left in 2012. Hahaha so now I don't really know the new groups and I hear fans are toxic, unlike most fans for 2nd gen era where they all support all groups.
@@millasuini8307 from someone who is not as active in kpop anymore but spent every minute she had on it from 2017 to 2019, it was still really fun and alot of the the 2nd and few 3rd gen groups still had a connection with their audience because they had room to make mistakes and bring out bad songs and funny things that would get memed on but the competition between the groups or actually fandoms has gotten so toxic and unrecoverable making it less enjoyable. Now Im trying hard not to judge but all the groups coming out are so well rounded and good at everything and all look perfect which Is great but it leaves no room for artists to connect as humans with their fans or their music and the work they are putting out because they look unreachable and not human to many. The industry has kinda gone to shit concidering fans think they own the idols and can only uplift their own groups trough bringing down others. That's why I'm glad I'm out of that hole and can now just enjoy the music without the frustration. I just recently discovered BB and let's just say im in love with their music especially GD his voice and artistic output and value he has in his lyrics.
