Great to see these back. Hands down the most practical windsurfing advice on RUclips. As it gets a bit cooler here in Australia Vassiliki looks very appealing !
Part two will come soon, need to get some more clips to make it as clear as I want it to be... however there are many other videos that'll reply help your gybes already up. keep an eye out for "flat-water-waver-riding" coming soon too! 🤙
Great technique to demonstrate, its easy to forget these things or get lazy in the hullabaloo of a session and next thing you know you just aren't going as well or feeling as in control as you should!! Looking forward to the next one!!
I love the effort you put into these. Really helpful to see you adapt and change positions as well. Also, you've got that twist with your hips opening forward and your front foot and knee pointing forwards. I find myself sometimes being lazy or just sloppy and pointing it more inboard.
@@Cookiesports Can't wait to see that. Where I live we get a ton of light, inconsistent wind coupled with swells/chop that makes it very frustrating much of the time. I've actually been wing foiling almost exclusively the past year as a result....
Great videos Cookie. Do you reckon you could do one on spin out?? Every time I sail, I spin out on nearly every run at least once… would be great to understand common causes and technique issues that cause it!!
I really love all your instructional videos. I have them all saved for easy access in my library. Could you possibly do a short segment on hope you do your audio/video production. The camera shots are amazing. Dave, Longmont, Colorado. USA
Good to see you back on the water, bringing us quality tutorials again! A question regarding the sheet out to sheet in thing: do you just sheet out by briefly flexing the elbow of the arm closest to the mast? Meaning you don't move the other arm at all? Was kinda hard to see on the video. Mahalo!
That’s all it takes, a slight momentary bend of the front arm to open the sail… allows you to change direction slightly, then straighten it and sheet in again. While I mention it- doing this by accident is a common reason for accidentally squeezing upwind/loosing power/dropping of the plane!
@@Cookiesports Your advice was grand! I‘m at Lake Garda currently and was trying to adopt your sheet-out-to-sheet-in technique. Works perfectly, makes me plane easier and earlier. Thanks a bunch for your tutorials! Highly appreciated indeed! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Very nice video ! I tried to do this on the water today, but every time I go in the low 7 I have the feeling that I am gonna fall back and pull with my back hand after that I lose all my speed… maybe some tips ? Thank you !!
Make sure you have power when you make the low “super-7” stance. Keep your front arm extended to keep the power on. This position is “drop”… next question is do you “drop & push” or “drop & dig”… pushing your front foot, or digging your heels… look for the stiletto stance in my other videos (this is “drop & push”… looks for an upcoming video called “how to get from “ok” to “great””…it’ll show even more about the digging- which it sounds like you’re currently doing! 🙌
When I go into that low super 7 stance with flexed back leg and extended front leg, I often tend to put too much pressure on the back leg. Any clue how to fix that?
Try standing and holding boom with a friend, both of you each side in mirror positions to one another. Both drop into a “super-7” position (unhooked- with no sail, just the boom!). Without changing your stance you should be able to either push through your front toes…. Or dig your back heels. This is the same in the board… drop & push the front foot, or drop & dig the back foot- same stance, different application of your foot pressure. Video coming soon on this! 👍
Hey Cookie, another great video! I could use some help- i tried my new FSW (96L) as a thruster setup with 18 rear and 10 sides (original fins) but just couldn’t get it planing. I also tried it with a bigger middle fin, but nope, that felt even more dragy. I felt the wind in the rig and from experience I can tell that my older 106L single fin would have been on the plane by then, even with a small fin. (I think im doing fine with my stance, mostly front foot, generous inboard footstraps, drop and push ect, 28“ lines). Had no issues with spinouts or sliding sideways btw. …any ideas from a pro? In one of your videos you rode a RRD FSW 94ish as a thruster- do u remember the size of that fin setup? Thanks and keep the great and helpful videos coming! Thank you!
Hi AP! Our new RRD FSW’s at my centre come with 24 centre fins and 10cm side. Can’t comment on your technique without seeing but maybe the fins too small? Even without spinning out.
100% true! I hope you’ve seen a few of my videos? In many of them I talk about the importance of VISION! This is your head, shoulders, hips, and leading foot all Turing to face forward… or even slightly up wind. Look where you want to go to maintain your sailing line! 👍
@@Cookiesports I seen many of them. The glued chin was a gamechanger. I was just playing around and finally found a sweet spot, by turning the hip outwards. I still do the footstraps first before harness, but i'm trying (with the help of your video's) to go harness and then footstraps. It feels weird but i'm getting there. I know it should this way cuz you get the board on the plane much faster.
@@maikelvantures3660 both footstraps/harness first are fine… but into harness first will generally be more efficient and get you going earlier… the footstraps first use the T-Rez stance maybe you’ve seen?! 🤣
@@Cookiesports I'm still learning, but out of the harness first yeah its a little T-rex mode if you trying to get into the footstraps. But i feel i can get my butt lower without harness. And somehow drive the board faster when i am lower. Like the super 7. Or is that just me starting footstraps upwind, getting downwind a little get my butt on the rear and pull the sail. Get the butt outwards and then hook in when plaining.
@@maikelvantures3660 being able to get super low into the super-7 stance is the advantage of staying out of the harness… it’s fine to do this upwind- particularly if you have the power!

Maybe a nice video idea how to correct and overcome such problems? :) Love your video's!
Your ride along videos are awesome but sometimes the wide angle view, and all the action do not let me see what is happening like the position and angle of the sail in relation to the board. Which maybe one day you could explain and show on the ground. Great videos.
Faster, true… but less control for your average windsurfer who this is aimed at. Rotating your hips to look forward will improve control, stability, and efficiency.
@@Juan_lauda Agreed- definitely important to straighten up the line between the front foot-hips-shoulders; rotating the hips and shoulders toward the direction of travel to help you in marginal conditions and stay upwind. 👍
