    Solder. Tin is the main component in solder. That silver, blobby stuff all over circuit boards that hold microchips, capacitors, resistors, & the like to the boards. Even plain, non smart watches & handheld calculators have solder in them. Not only that, it's used in general electrical applications as well. There's no guarantee that you have some in the electrical system of your house or apartment, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some in it.

    • @iffracem
      @iffracem 29 дней назад +7

      Traditional solder is an amalgam of tin and lead, but with the problems with lead, it's being replaced mainly by copper/tin, with around 93% tin in the mix!
      Even the "Silver solder" used in plumbing and jewelry is mainly tin. It's a major component of batteries (esp the so-called lithium based ones we use in EV's.. so by manipulating that market, they show they are really smart "business" people), it's in a lot of steel alloys, PVC stabilisers and even "biocides" like anti-fouling for ships (use being phased out.. does weird things to marine life... )
      So yeah... it's everywhere!

    • @michaelmoorrees3585
      @michaelmoorrees3585 29 дней назад +1

      And don't forget the indium tin oxide, used to make LCD display panels, for computer and phone screens. Its both transparent and conductive.
      Also a much older use, bronze. An alloy of tin and copper. In the modern metal industry, all copper alloys are referred to as "bronzes", including brass (copper and zinc). That's because in modern metallurgy, alloys formulas are complex and varied, to meet modern needs. Still uses a lot of tin.

    Their an interesting history involving KMT remnants in Burma, they fled across the borders and lunched two invasion back in to china and then a campaign of raids into china when the invasions failed. They took over drug trade to fund themselves and set themselves up as warlords, a state of affairs that lasted until early sixties in which they were forced out and evacuated to Taiwan. That would make a great video onto itself.

    So in summary, The Wa were originally tribal men transformed into Communists by the Burma Communist Party (BCP) in the 1960s. They revolted against the BCP in 1989, with Beijing's encouragement, and quickly made peace with the Myanmar military. In 1996, they launched a full-scale war against their drug trade rival, the Mong Tai Army, evolving into a multibillion-dollar drug empire that dwarfed the Cartels. Ultimately, their focus is on maintaining the status quo with the Myanmar military and preserving peace with their primary supporter, the Chinese Communist Party.

    I'm a bit embarrassed, I knew none of this about the Wa or the UWSA. These people are obviously historically clued up, it looks a good part of Burma to actually visit. Being honest, people who make huge sums from drugs tend to stay in the business, at least to some extent. Which makes me wonder, do they have their own real legal system Ed? Thanks from Australia.
    _Just occurred that the Wa are similar to the Nepalese in some ways._

    • @lasskinn474
      @lasskinn474 29 дней назад

      I wouldn't recommend any part of burma to visit right now tho.
      there's other sort of interesting things in the general region that are not much talked about like the communist rebel uprising in thailand and it's sort of part in legacy in cheguevara and bob marley and indian motifs in northeastern thailand along the cowboy motifs from wild west movies(some of it legacy of airbases, though your average thai is fairly oblivious to the legacy of the vietnam war era airbases and more so about the local communist uprising).
      as for the wa and their meth pills, I would take them on their word that they've gotten out of that trade in recent years since the major market of thailand has had the prices bottom so low there's just not the same kind of profits from it. some of this is due to weed and kratom legalization and the war on drugs in thailand in general being dialed down, runners not getting so long sentences etc.
