I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Pat Simmons. A great guy. I was very impressed with him. Been a fan for years.
That’s awesome. Everybody talks about Tommy & Michael and rightfully so. But I always felt that Pat was the true heart and soul of the band. Also a very underrated musician and songwriter.
They would have gone into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last Saturday, roughly a quarter century after they were first eligible, but COVID19 moved the ceremony to the Fall.

I wasn’t so sure about Mike MacDonald at first, thought he was joining as his own vehicle to solo-but I was wrong, very wrong. Aside from his vocal talent, he was last there but a great addition. Sorry for all the times I wasn’t cool, now I’m a fan

Was supposed to see them last summer and then it got postponed to this weekend (September 12th, ‘21). Now it’s postponed again. 😩 Come on ppl. Get those vaccines so we can start enjoying shows again. These guys aren’t getting younger and neither are we.

Tom Johnston is my favorite! I never cared for the McDonald version of the band.
I graduated high school in 1981,so I grew up listening to the Doobie Brothers. I always look at them this way...Tom Johnston ,Patrick Simmons& to a lesser extent John McFee are the giys you want to rock out to on a Friday or Satirday night. Michael McDonald is the guy that you like to listen to mainly on Satirday /Sunday. mornings & afternoons. He is the one that you listen to mainly after you rock out. His music has always been more of a relaxing kind of music.
We already have our tickets for New Orleans on 10/15/20. In addition to the expected Michael McDonald songs which they will most probably play, I hope that they add "Echoes Of Love", "The Doctor", "Dangerous", & "Natural Thing" to their setlists. In all cases, this 50th Anniversary concert tour is going to be a real treat.

Saw them in 1993 at the Kansas City Spirit Festival in Liberty Memorial park. I was impressed then and I’m even more impressed now with how good they still sound.
