  • In this video, we demonstrate how to effectively release trigger points in the piriformis muscle using a combination of techniques, including ischemic compression, heat therapy, cold therapy, and stretching. The piriformis muscle, located deep in the buttock, is often responsible for referred pain in the lower back and legs, sometimes even mimicking sciatic nerve pain. Trigger points in this muscle can lead to significant discomfort, and targeted therapy can provide much-needed relief.
Through clear, step-by-step instructions, we show how to use ischemic compression to deactivate trigger points, followed by the strategic application of heat and cold to reduce inflammation and enhance muscle relaxation. Finally, we guide you through effective table-based stretching techniques to improve flexibility and further alleviate tension in the piriformis.
This video is ideal for therapists and anyone looking to understand the therapeutic techniques to release piriformis trigger points and reduce related pain.
Keywords: piriformis muscle release, trigger point therapy, ischemic compression, heat therapy, cold therapy, piriformis pain, sciatica relief, muscle stretching, Maureen Abson, massage therapy, pain management, lower back pain.

That has got to be a South African accent lol. Either way, I won’t really use this information anywhere but I enjoyed the video regardless. You’re a great teacher ❤

This is wonderful information. I had my Piriformis muscle removed last year because it was picking my sciatic nerve. But I still have sciatic pain. Any suggestions. Probably having a second surgery.

@@helenafranca4077 it’s not a routine surgery because it’s so new for peripheral nerve surgery. Not having the muscle really doesn’t affect my body but I still have pain.

Thank you for your feedback and for following our channel. If you are still feeling sciatic pain after having partial piriformis removal, you must seek advice from your medical team. Often a small adjustment/further surgery may be required, but conservative treatment should also me considered. Good luck to you!
