Thanks for this video Dr.Sheila! I would say instead though 1) SPF, 2) Moisturizer that suits your skin 3) Microneedling device for boosting collagen. when it comes to reverse aging (And also delay it), imo nothing can't beat Microneedling. I probably have tried almost everything to look younger + delay aging as much as possible, anything from face exercises, vitamin C serum, Fraxel, collagen supplements and of course Retin A (7 years straight), home devices and what not. However, nothing made any real difference compared to the high-quality derma pen I purchased for around 200 bucks. Within 3 months of use, my skin has improved DRAMATICALLY. I don't look like I'm 18 again, but definitely not 44 either. My fine lines have disappeared completely, and my nasolabial folds are way less are nonexist (Never had jowls though). People often underestimate the power of wounding and the revolutionary effects it can have on the skin and instead spending thousands on useless creams (Again, not speaking on sun screen which is the most important thing), or other cosmetic producers instead of changing habits such as no AIcohoI, no smking, never sleep on the side of the face, drink plenty of water, daily sun screen, avoid sugar, exercise and mind your own business haha.
Shhhh...don't tell everyone! (Joking) Ive been microneedling for almost 10 years - most guess I'm @ 15 YEARS younger than my birth certificate says. I DO it myself at home, quote aggressively in places, and lightly in others,,maybe 1x month. I am 63
+1 for kora. I started doing microneedIIing since it started 12 or so years ago. Nobody believe I am 55. They all say I am in my late 30's or early 40's. I assume it works so well because when we get older, our skin gets thinner therefore creating wrinkIes. But the wounding kept my skin still thick and youthful.
Cleanser, retin 0,025% and a mixture of Castor oil, Jojoba oil and Frankincense in the evening and SPF 50 during the day. All these products are microplastics free. My skin has never looked more beautiful! Vitamine C has never done anything for my skin, didn't get rid of the pigment spots but Castor oil did!
thanks for sharing! Love the Tret! You are correct vitamin C is not the best skin brighter but on a cellular level, it is a great antioxidant and must have an asking skin care routine!
You got it!! I’ll definitely work on a detailed video for this as a big demographic at my office is mature skin types. You want look for ingredients with peptides and you want make sure your skin is very hydrated and moisturized.
Thank you so much for such clear concise advice. You've saved me loads of research time. Yes please do video number 2 with the additional products. Many thanks
Please talk about hyperpigmentation, large sun spots on body. I have them on my shoulders and hands because I didn't use sun protection in my younger years. I'm 45 now and speckled 😞
sunscreen for black skin pls? i use bondi sand one and i still get sunburns on my cheeks. Pls help!! I leave in Africa so the climate is hot, highly polluted. thank you Dr!!!
Great question! Chemical sunscreens blend better without a white cast. Serena Williams has a brand called eleven with a serum spf that is great for black skin! Super goop I mentioned in comment section also good because it jus like primer
It is super overwhelming to take care of our skin, because there are so many options. Thank you very much for your video. Sorry, what is your option about the Murad creams? Are they good? Thank you.
To be honest, unless you have a specific skin condition (such as hyperpigmentation), a retinoid is really all you need. Tretinoin or even an over-the-counter retinal (retinaldehyde) will provide your skin with all the vitamin A it needs. And I know this might sound crazy, but you don't even need a moisturizer. I personally use a strong retinoid every evening and apply SPF only if I'm going to be outside in the sun. Additionally, I eat lots of red meat and eggs to get all the nutrients my body needs. I also don't eat carbs, sugars, refined seed oils, etc. My skin is pretty much perfect, without a single wrinkle, and I'm in my mid-40s. I never apply vitamin C, moisturizers, niacinamide, etc. I don't even cleanse. My shower is my cleanser. Only a strong retinoid every night since I've been in my early 20s. And my skin still looks like I'm in my early 20s although I'm 46.
Dear Dr. Sheila, I am 45 and from Sri Lanka. I have oily sensitive skin. I used the Ponds Age miracle which has Retinol, and it burned my whole skin. It does not mention the strength. Could you pls recommend a simple but effective skincare routine for me. I use the Cetaphil oily Skin Cleanser for years and it works wonders for me. Desperately needs help
I’m 61, with a lot of stress this past year, I have noticed a lot of wrinkles. My main problem is clogged pores, I can’t afford facials on a regular, but even after a facial, within days my pores are clogged again! Is their any product, routine or diet you can recommend?
Question. I'm using Tret .05 (over a year i been using that) at night, in the morning I'm using azelaic acid 15% ( been on that less than 6wks) and vitamin c (i plan on buying Vanicream v C). . Will it be ok to add alpha arbutin? if so, which routine should it be added to my morning or night? )Actually i have been using alpha arbutin over a year also in my night routine). Or maybe alpha arbutin isnt necessary? My issue is hyperpitment, Malaysia
Thank you 😊 🩷 for such a simple and clear information.. I am 57 with roaseca, nose has pores, broken blood vessels, open pores on cheeks, welts , dry but oily sensitive skin. Please can you recommend out of these 3 products the once that I should try. I use PC range for sensitive skin and so good . Cheers Kathryn From New Zealand 🇳🇿 xx
What is your opinionon Defenage Pro? I'm hooked, but would love a cheaper alternative. Also, what procedures do you recommend for anti aging? I'm so glad I located your page
The Trader Joe's daily sunscreen is so nice & I think it's better than Super Goop😊 I just love this sunscreen it is so nice like velvet! This sunscreen had gone viral in recent past & you could not find it anywhere...
Some dermatologist say you can apply a moisturizer before tretinoin. I’m curious why do you recommend tretinoin first then moisturizer? If I apply the tretinoin before moisturizer how long do I wait after applying tretinoin to apply the moisturizer?
Dear Dr Sheila, do you happen to know whether Olay still make their Regenerist Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 moisture cream? I loved it! No white cast, feels like primer, moisturising snd mattifying and my make up looks so much better with it. Thank you for this video
Less is more in my book. I use the Anthelios sunscreen, during the day, then my homemade moisturizer of castor oil, frankincense, helichrysum and orange oil, and distilled water, I cleanse with castor oil then a goat milk soap bar and then use my homemade moisturizer. I am 62 and all the serums and skin care overwhelms my skin- I was using one skin care system that was 7 products at one time-ridiculous! My skin is supple, bright looking and yes, I have fine lines (hello, 62 here!) and no wrinkles unless you count my hooded eye lids (again 62 and a genetic disposition for those upper lids to drop). When I was 14, my mother brought me to a dermatologist because I started getting a pimple or three each month; he recommended evening only face cleansing and moisturizer at night, and in the morning, a soft face cloth in the shower which should be warm- not hot or cool- and then sunscreen and moisturizer, no toners, and that is what I have been doing for most of my life except the last 10 years I have made my own moisturizers, soaps, perfumes due to growing sensitivity to store bought products.
i never do double cleansing but it is too difficult to remove my sunscreen at night. is it okay to just wash the face with cleansing foam twice? thanks

You have to watch Vitamin C with certain moisturizers. You can burn your skin. It happened to me. On my neck. I don't touch C now.
I had the same problem it darkened my skin not sure what did that ,
I do not understand why even recommending retinols when there are retinAls (and even granactive retinoids). RetinAls are more effective and gentler!
