It’s funny because they still don’t know how to zoom out. We are a year away from Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, and 2025 is loaded with new top sets like Team Rocket Coming. We are in a Pokémon Supercycle going into 2026. Enjoy the ride folks!
A drop in prices only affects people who anticipate needing to exit sometime soon or who are over leveraged in some way. For everyone else, a drop in prices is probably welcome and an opportunity.
Don't be too smart either fellers. I've been buying singles off marketplace for the last two months and I know for a fact a few of the sellers thought they were selling at the top and that was 50% cheaper than it is rn. Everyone so worried about selling at the top that they aren't holding anything for themselves long term.
The money is made at the buy. The people that can’t budget/handle money are destined to fail. I made many mistakes early, that cost me a lot of money. The best teacher is failure.
Do you like the cards? I'm not a big fan. Buy what you like and ask few people what they like usually there is a stand out and that set will do well. Shrouded fable eventually will go up just due to scarcity over time.. but wouldn't be an investment for me.
At the end of the day smart people consistently invest either in stocks, properties, collectibles, businesses etc or all the above to diversify their portfolio. Even if you don’t make a lot of money, you should still invest. A $20 monthly investment into the stock market/ mutual fund is better than nothing. The key is to let the money grow over a long period of time and only invest in what you can afford. Don’t stretch yourself too thin. For me I prefer having a diverse portfolio of mutual funds, real estate and TCG cards; primarily Pokemon Center ETB’s and booster boxes. As always great advice brother! I always look forward to your investment knowledge.. 🙏🏻
Every market is made in a way that the big players win and the average person loses. The Pokemon market is no different. It used to be fun in 1999, now its a money pyramid scheme.

I want to have Pokémon sealed investments like you in 15 years, you’re my role model. I messed up the first time investing and bought the Pokemon GO mewtwo and melmetal deck bundles 1 and a half years ago, probably the only thing I could’ve bought during that time that hasn’t gone up in price. I’m hoping that the $15 crown zenith 3 packs that I bought at Pokemon center and 2 cases of the roaring moon/iron valiant ex boxes are a better investment based on everything I’ve learned about investing in the last year🙏
They had the chance to do it with prismatic evo but the pull rates killed it. If the pull rates wouldve been good like crown zenith. The pc etbs would be way over $300+ each

The entire problem is the pull rates. It's making cards stupidly expensive, and it's now more about being an investor than a kid wanting to collect a cool card. If you could complete a set within 50-100 packs, this wouldn't be a problem.

Me and two partners started a pokemon business this month. We cleared 120k in sales our very first month - it's been a wild ride. Would love to be able to talk with you about what we're doing sometime.
You got me buying the strategy more and wanting to open less. With that said what's the long term 10/20+ exit strategy. Like when evolving skies bb are 5/10k how realistic will it be to unload 5/10+ cases.
So to reference your point on not buying a home in 2019 then going through everything that happened after. If one is not able to afford a house why put ones self through that kind of financial difficulty. Cause people failed to realize that the interest made payments impossible to keep up with and it's not a comfortable situation to be in knowing that yea I own a home but have to make cuts everywhere else just to get by. And let's also not forget that the homes also need maintenance. If you don't have the money to pay for repairs then what. If you have the money and can afford it then by all means go ahead but that's not the case for most. But I do get your point though.
So for the recent 151 restocks, are these increased printing from Nintendo recently? Or stock leftover as logistics get handled. In other words, the 151 6-booster packs I bought for retail today 01/26/25, when was it printed?
Excellent take Alex, I hate these doomers that walk around neighbors in sunglasses and preach economic doom. Meanwhile, everything continues to melt up (in some cases, like collectibles, shoot up).
The melt up phase always comes before the rug pull, the trick is to get out before this happens - and it always happens. Look at todays markets, meme coins NFTs, cardboard cards etc. Is this the sign of normality or is there so much currency out there that it's chasing junk?
I took a big risk buying a degenerate amount of prismatic but I took a play with the idea that I could sell instantly and now I'm sitting on cases already paid for by the proceeds that I can sit on with no worry of market price because I'm in with a cost basis of 0.
Buying some of these singles to grade could be risky tho. At least the ones that doubled or tripled raw. Psa taking 90 days leaves alot of time for prices to dip. I agree with the overalll message and sentiment though.
People need to learn to stop giving these “Pokémon dealers” 70% of comps for there stuff if selling, we need to just trade and buy from eachother I see so many videos people “trading for 70%” but then paying 100% of comps just a losing equation after so many transactions even when you go to sell it’s “I buy at 70-75%” I don’t even own Pokémon just a couple nfl cards but when I see this I laugh and it makes me take a step back and realize this is why I don’t sink thousands like I could into the hobby
My intelligence tends to fly way too close to the sun sometimes. I'm not even talking about predicting crashes though, that crap is for the birds lol. Possibilities are possibilities, but I shouldn't cling on to one single possibility nor claim that it is guaranteed to happen bar for bar. Lately I've been thinking non-stop about the idea of "being dumb enough to try." If your sanity is intact, there's a lot of decisions that are not worth making. But winning in life is about taking risks.
History repeats itself so often in this hobby I no longer pay attention to the negativity when it comes to genuine investing. The bad actors will be flushed out before long, and the real investor who actually appreciates over time will continue to be blessed. Ignore the noise because your chances will come. They always do. 💯
The truth is no one knows exactly when the market is going to change direction you just need to be careful and don’t invest into anything blindly and make smart decisions.
I think people are scared of the "crash" aka when the "Free" money is gone. Like during covid after champions path yes people still bought pokemon cards but many stores closed down because people can't live on 90 dollar booster box market is 69.99 from distributors so 20 dollars profit a box keeping lights on and staff. We will have to see when crypto ( free money) crashes hard and the hobby will go down. But this is all speculation. We don't know if the economy will flourish even more and this hobby will 10x from now on. We will just have to see.
Everyone knows over time sealed always rises in value, but sets differentiate based on products as well. But the slab/singles market almost always depends on trends/booms/busts. All these people thinking they know everything now because theres a boom because of outside things happening is hilarious to me. 2016 pogo boom, 2020-21 covid boom, 2024-25 pocket boom. The market is gonna drop again soon an then something else will happen an itll boom again just give it a few years. Or buy sealed keep it sealed for 3-5 years an double triple or if youre lucky even more times your money. I always buy one case of product to open with my kids and one case to keep in storage. Been doing it since i got back into the hobby with xy breakthrough.
Lol with all these sets coming in at top dollar it is pushing people away I know a lot of people going into one piece and Disney lorcana due to some sits not making since
I feel like these people that are jumping on to Pokémon don’t have money to let it sit and bubble or don’t have discipline to let things just sit. A lot of them are sneaker heads as well because the sneaker game is dead they’re looking for the next best thing not knowing anything about what they’re investing in
about @5:40 Im confused, if I buy them for $10 and sell for $11 I make $1, and if the price drops to $5 and I sell for $6, I lose $4 for every pack I sell.. lol.
If you buy 100 packs and sell 50 for 11$ You have 550$ to buy 110 more packs at 5$ range. Your new break even is 6.57$. You can keep selling your inventory, of 160 packs with, 160x6$= 960$ 90$loss You buy 192packs. You sell 192 packs 192x6=1152$ 152$ profit You buy 230 packs. After this the price rises to 7$ per pack. You sell 143 packs 143x7=1001$ You now have 83 packs and 1000$ to invest😊
The idea is to sell a bit and hold the rest at drops. Selling at a lower price let’s you “trade” packs for other product. You essentially reinvest/trade up into something more growable.
The idea that the “market is always right” simply isn’t applicable with the times and conditions we’re facing. If the market is skewed by a minority, then it’s not an accuracy assessment of said market. When a crypto is bought out by whales, that doesn’t mean the value of an asset is equal to what the asking price of said market is. I agree with 95% of what you say, but this whole idea that the market price in frenzied asset is a reflection of its entirety needs to stop
Do yourself a huge favor and ignore everything this guy says when it comes to investing. He literally stated in the video that you can buy high and if it crashes you just make money because you now have an opportunity to buy at a lower price. He basically implied that you can't lose in the long run. His math skills are sus!
Pretty much everybody is thinking short term, including the YT creators! I don't care what it's worth next week. I care what it's worth in 3/4/5 years time. My moneys on it's going to be alot more than now, so i'm buying.
Honestly i couldn’t care if it crashes, being the crash on, i know plenty of us will welcome it and get back to enjoying it rather than it always being about money
some shop told me that the reprint on 8..5 and 9 will be not insane. Not really insane. It will be legendary until april and sellers tell me : dont buy now. Buy only if really, really, y want to open right now i dont care if it crash or not. I just want to pay a decent price
F the bull f the bear the problem is there’s no room for the individual collector. What are we guna invest in now for under market value? Shrouded? Yea okay lol

151 packs are £12 each in the UK, my favourite set i was late to the party on, still enjoyed ripping some and the collection sets are mint
The house market has actually been dropping the last 2 years. 🤔
Just hear me out… if you buy it for $10 and it crashes to $5, BUY 2 more
So to reference your point on not buying a home in 2019 then going through everything that happened after.
Where is the 5 sec stare + bad micro ? You step up too much nostalgia
4:18 that's exactly what I'm doing. Starting with my scuffed, then doing my singles, then my sealed over the current and next three weeks
THE ‘I’M GOING TO WAIT’ CROWD
Took a second mortgage to buy Pris Evo ETBs @ $199 each… I’m good right?
The most important thing is to trust your intuition.
Buying some of these singles to grade could be risky tho. At least the ones that doubled or tripled raw. Psa taking 90 days leaves alot of time for prices to dip. I agree with the overalll message and sentiment though.
Scared money don’t make money if it’s up and out of print and most likely won’t get one you’ll be fine
Alex, ask the crystal ball if I should sell all my alt arts! Ohh ohh ALEX! Sell sell SELL!!! The sky will fall!😂
Ive never seen your videos before but you dropped some gems. 🔥
I completely agree with you, the crash is coming. It’s coming hard, and quickly.
Not gonna happen
Hey is it smart to collect singles over sealed?
depends, singles r more fun tho
@Calebdevelops most definitely! Just picked up the Charizard from PAF and Obsidian for 150!
You cant find literally anything in my area anymore. Like your LUCKY to find literally anything other then a battle deck or fable
Thanks for this breakdown! Very appreciated
I have stuff
but i want more stuff
and how do i get more stuff for less
when i buy in the crash
timmy logic
Lol with all these sets coming in at top dollar it is pushing people away I know a lot of people going into one piece and Disney lorcana due to some sits not making since
My exact choices were Buy some, sell 1/3, keep the other
I feel like these people that are jumping on to Pokémon don’t have money to let it sit and bubble or don’t have discipline to let things just sit. A lot of them are sneaker heads as well because the sneaker game is dead they’re looking for the next best thing not knowing anything about what they’re investing in
The most sense spoken right here 🙂
ALEX! Spot on as always. Great content dude
Every noob should start off by watching your videos. Unfortunately we all pay the noob fee and lose big in the beginning
about @5:40 Im confused, if I buy them for $10 and sell for $11 I make $1, and if the price drops to $5 and I sell for $6, I lose $4 for every pack I sell.. lol.
If you buy 100 packs and sell 50 for 11$ You have 550$ to buy 110 more packs at 5$ range. Your new break even is 6.57$.
You can keep selling your inventory, of 160 packs with, 160x6$= 960$ 90$loss
You buy 192packs.
You sell 192 packs 192x6=1152$ 152$ profit
You buy 230 packs.
After this the price rises to 7$ per pack.
You sell 143 packs 143x7=1001$
You now have 83 packs and 1000$ to invest😊
Broken clock is right twice a day.
If you think this market is going to fall when tax season is coming is a dens position
Honestly i couldn’t care if it crashes, being the crash on, i know plenty of us will welcome it and get back to enjoying it rather than it always being about money
I hate what the hobby has become.
People said prismatic prices were crashing too
It feels like every investor who creates content out of it, tries to manipulate viewers for their own benefit.
some shop told me that the reprint on 8..5 and 9 will be not insane. Not really insane.
It will be legendary until april
and sellers tell me : dont buy now. Buy only if really, really, y want to open right now
i dont care if it crash or not. I just want to pay a decent price
Cant really lose on msrp on a good set
Not fussed..I'm a collector
Great thing I invested in lost origin. Booster boxes and etbs for days
"Pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered" You're right, never go all in on anything.
I hope it is. I miss the old days
At the end of the day, im a fan of Pokemon. If this shit goes back to msrp, I'll just rip it and enjoy it. Simple as that.
F the bull f the bear the problem is there’s no room for the individual collector. What are we guna invest in now for under market value? Shrouded? Yea okay lol
This video seems to have triggered a lot of people seeing the dislike count, not sure why
