Well done! I live near Galveston and have visited this ship several times when it was on display in the water before these renovations began. The beautiful background music is a VERY welcome divergence from the earth shaking nonsense we hear on most of today's videos. Personally, I want those torpedo tubes put back and "Ready to rock"!
Great editing with seamless transitions. I visited the USS Texas for the first time in 1968 when I was 13 years old. Went back a couple of times in the 1970's. I'm so glad she's being restored.
Really nice. Glad to see this here since 'Galveston Harbor Webcam' disabled lateral controls. Can't use them to check in any more. Wonder what the problem is with them.
They need to bring back battleships. I feel they are still relevant for today's navy, just need up grading. Also, I never knew that a battleship had torpedoes .
Possible. I am army not navy. Still love the navy though, except on football days. Still would not mind seeing a battleship turned into a super yacht though even if just on computer. @@codyking4848
Almost all Navy ships of WWII from Destroyers and larger had torpedo's. Including Aircraft Carriers ! And, No ! Battleships are useless to our modern Navy ! The only reason the Iowa class battleships were activated in the early 1980's, is Ronald Reagan wanting a big dick syndrome !
@@ThirdCoastDrone The rudder control room was flooded and stayed flooded for many years ! Everything is frozen in place by corrosion ! They have it out, they should restore that compartment ! If they don't do it now, it will never get done.
Why are they saying the rudder will stay 14 degrees starboard when they take it out of drydock and find it a new home it's going to have maneuverability problems so why are they saying that it doesn't make sense to me
I believe money and time are the main factors. There is also the the school of thought that that 14 degree angle was the last steering order that was given. Was mentioned in earlier videos that the slight yaw was not an issue.
It's not broken. Apparently that's the last position it was ordered to be in so now it's a nostalgic feature and they refuse to move it. It's sorta cool, I guess, until you try to move it and the tugs are fighting the thing all the way down the river.

I like the labels. Helps with understanding and learning. I wouldn't have known that the ship had underwater torpedo launchers, for example.
She's looking better by the day. Great video, and accompanied by an intelligent choice of music. Really enjoyed that.
"BRINGS A JOYFUL TEAR TO MY EYES, SHE'S LOOKING REALLY GOOD SO FAR, THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ARE CONTRIBUTING TO THE RESTORATION" !!!
It’s coming together so well can’t wait to see the paint going on the old girl 👍👍
Thanks for all your work in saving this beautiful ship.
She's looking more beautiful everyday ❤❤❤
Agreed.
Beautiful and majestic ❤❤❤
The music is perfect. Also, thanks for the labels.
Sorry, I can't find anything to criticize.😂
Got a few photos of this beauty, when we were berthed to her aft, on the Carnival Vista, the first week of October this year.
These images will soon make a wonderful diorama.🤙🏼
Loved every minute. Great music, like the captions. Love seeing all the different angles.
Glad you enjoyed it!
She is looking great! I know there is still a lot of work still to do.
I think they should fix the rudder. Otherwise it looks great!
coming along nicely
Magnificent!
Well done and nice work.
Myself? I love classical music 🎶
What a fantastic ship.
🎵Classy 👍🏻 like the Lady U.S.S. Texas

Excellent music choice, sir
I personally like the new video.
I love this ship and so want to see it up close and the mechanic in me says that the rudder is stuck for what reason???? Is it by choice i mean ?
Degradation of the components. Leaks caused rust and corrosion. Rebuilding or repairing the steering system would be costly.
Why not put the USS Texas on dry land when completed?!.

You'd be wrong

I agree. The Iowa class being refit would serve well in a modern carrier task force. Also, very useful in any future amphibious assaults.
Battleships have no more of a place in a modern navy than does USS Constitution. The Burke Class destroyers are really too big for their purpose, now.
What is the estimated completion date, and do we know where she will be moored?
Why is the rudder at 14 degrees right? And why must it remain there?
Last order given when parked and since then is fixed in place after decades in brackish water

Also the shaft is welded over to prevent flooding through the seals when they deteriorated.
Soon, the paint will be going on. This was a long overdue refit.
Seems like when the drone is there, the workers hide!
lol, I’m far enough away they never even know it’s there. A lot of the clips are with zoom on I’m further away than it appears.
Why is her rudder stuck? Can't you get power to the hydraulics?
Why is the rudder to be left in a starboard configuration?
Because that was the last command the last captain ordered right before decommissioning
Why don’t they fix rudder?
Did you mean "Davinci Resolve", from Black Magic? Because it was misspelled in the title....
Yes lol

It’s not moving very far to it’s new berth. You guys need to keep up!
You make an update as exciting as watching grass grow.
Show us what has been worked on...
The ship is out of the water, why not repair the rudder control room and straiten out the rudder ?

Thanks for playing classical music instead of the garbage that's being played in this day and age
Is she going to be ready for home security 🤫😃🙌🙏🇺🇸🤩👊
That is going to need a sh*tload of paint!
Great video and job well done, on a side note, the music sucked!
Music is annoying.
No it’s not. Classical music is ART!
@@QurikyBark32919 not for a battleship.
