      Awesome! Thanks for enjoying the video!
      Once they complete repairs, you'll have to take the long trip over here to Texas and come walk her in person! There's also the CV-16 USS Lexington down in Corpus Christi, which is a few hours drive from here. That one is one you'd want to dedicate a whole day to touring. There's so much to see!

    Sure glad I have visited her once in my life. It was very cool being on an actual battleship. Very classic post dreadnought design with the 5 turrets.. ..to me just as beautiful as the fast battleships like the Missouri which I saw sail into Monterey Bay on way to Mideast deployment in the 80s. Thank You.

    • @MorningstarLifeTX
      @MorningstarLifeTX  Месяц назад +1

      That's rad! I would have loved to see the Missouri underway on her own power!
      I did get to see the Texas go from her berth by San Jacinto down to Gulf Copper in Galveston, where she was drydocked for repairs. It was pretty wild seeing that great ship sail by even if she wasn't doing so on her own.

      @@MorningstarLifeTX The real highlight was the Presidio of Monterey firing a cannon and the Missouri responding by firing one of her 5 inch 38s in the traditional acknowledgement / salute that shore and ship guns are empty coming into port. In addition two naval patrol boats were escorting her then went back and forth firing .50 cal machine gun (blanks I believe). The next evening my wife and I had dinner on the wharf and could see the Missouri at anchor with the lights that go up to the superstructure from stem and stern. It seems to me it was 1986 or 1987 and was featured in the Monterey Herald newspaper.

    • @MorningstarLifeTX
      @MorningstarLifeTX  Месяц назад

      Thank you for the compliment! As for the music, it was just one of the backing tracks that come canned in PowerDirector 365. Nothing really special. I just selected something that could fill in the silence, given that the drone doesn't record audio, but wouldn't be anything that would take away from the visuals of the Texas, herself.

    • @MorningstarLifeTX

      Again, the music is just a space occupier. Believe it or not, if I post videos with silence, I get all sorts of comments about how I didn't check my video to make sure it had audio. Ironically, they usually stem from little internet trolls who have never actually posted anything before, so they're incapable of comprehending the fact that drones don't typically record audio.

      She is beautiful! I can't wait for her to get back to the point to where we can tour her again! They're still debating where she ultimately calls home, with most rumors saying she'll stay relatively close to where she's currently located and will NOT be going back to her old berth in San Jacinto, which was a bit too off the beaten path. I think she'll end up with far more tourism if she remains in Galveston, near the cruise ship ports.

    This is the ship that flooded its own tanks to create a list and tilt the guns up so it could help shell the beaches at Normandy.

    • @MorningstarLifeTX
      @MorningstarLifeTX  29 дней назад +2

      @@Doncroft1 Yes, that's correct. She deliberately flooded her own blister tanks in order to increase the range of her guns at Normandy. I believe she was also the only ship to participate in all 5 theaters of WWII.

      @@MorningstarLifeTX It was on June 15, nine days after the D-Day landings, when she partially flooded her starboard external torpedo protection blister to increase gun range. The tactic was borrowed from the British who used it to extend gun range on their big-gun monitors in the early 1920's. She served in 2 theaters; the European and Pacific, and won 5 battle stars; Normandy, Southern France, North Africa, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

    Wow, looking great there. Over a hundred years old and still looking far better then that obscene ugly cruse ship across from this. In fact even before this restoration it looked better. Now even more better. Cheers to the next 100 years when that lump of a floating thing across from you is long gone forgotten.

      The music is a canned background track from PowerDirector, used to fill in the silence, since drone footage doesn't have audio. Oddly enough, one of the other comments on the video actually complimented the backing music, asking what it was and where it came from. lol
      My suggestion: You have volume and mute controls on both RUclips AND on your computer/device. If you don't care for the music, simply mute it or dump the volume. That's what I do with all of the videos that contain hip hop.
      Either way, thanks for watching and congrats on being THAT guy.
