Good idea to fill in the bottom of the lamp for extra weight! I have that same lamp base but have been using it as a plant pedestal in different parts of my garden for at least 15 years - so yes, that sucker is sturdy and will hold up against the elements. If it can survive the Florida summers it can survive anything. Anyway, looks like another winner. Wishing you better health:).
I love this birdbath. I have one I made from thrift store lamp. I used a pie plate for the top. I want to make more. I just love to watch the birds enjoying them.
What a very cool idea! The birds look like they are enjoying it so far. Sending prayers that you get to feeling better soon. TFS! Blessings to you! ✝🕊🙏🏼💖
This one is my favorite so far. The lamp base was perfect for a bird bath. I will have a new one posting on Monday. I just finished it and I hope to get some video of the birds on it but if not I will still post it on Monday. I will have to go lamp shopping again because my Mom wants me to make her one next.
I broke my base too.. had a big lampshade in the attic.. unwound the ribbon covering it to use the drum shaped metal cage as a base for my birdbath top... looks great..
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I will say if you use the solar fountain get a plant saucer about 3 inches deep. Mine is a little shallow at 2 inches deep. If it is breezy the fountain water blows out.
@@BobbiJo I literally just went out thrifting for birdbath supplies after watching your video and found TWO amazing large shallow dishes for the tops. I had two handmade scrolled iron plant stand my hubby made in high school that I decided to use as bases (they were neglected in a storage space). I did get a lamp as well so now I’m on the hunt for another top! Super happy with my endeavours so far!
@@Thatsinteresting363 that's great to hear! I found 2 more lamps last week. My mom wants a lamp bird bath. I've been looking for a large shallow bowl or something for the bath. I bet yours will look great!
Yes, look at my latest birdbath video. I found a plant tray/saucer. I can't remember exact measurements but about 2 - 3 inches deep. 14 - 16 inches around. It is a hard textured plastic. I wasn't sure if the birds would like it but they use it more than my concrete bath. I added a solar fountain but I removed it this week to see if the birds still liked the bath. They still love it. The smaller birds are attracted to the solar fountain. Especially the blue birds.
I never thought to use a lamp as the base of a bird bath. Looks good. Birdies approve. 🐦
Thanks. They are enjoying baths in it this week.

Thanks for stopping by again. There are so many uses for lamp bases. I didn't think about a plant pedestal. That's a great idea.

A pie plate is a good idea!
That lamp base had so much detail! Even the top under the plate was etched! Great find!
This is my favorite one so far.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I've done this with several different style lamps. The birds love them.

I have everything but the platter for the top. Can you please recommend something big and deep enough. I have searched for days.
