I’m an equestrian. I had a friend who said horse riding was easy. I was very mad. When I came home from school, I got on my laptop and did lots and lots of research to prove that she was wrong. I found out that horseback riding is the second or third hardest and most dangerous sports in the world. When I showed it to my friend I also showed her the video and she completely changed her mind.
Lulu’s Gacha one kid in my class was like “u ride horses? Who likes those” and another kid who knows me very well said “Dawson I don’t think u wanna go there” i gave him a very long speech abt it... and how it takes skill and is WAY harder than football
Riding horses is more dangerous than football, and I had kids from my High school football team break bones, because you can fall off and knock the wind out of you. The horse can kick you, buck you off, and many more painful things, luckily I haven't had those things happen to me but my trainer had that happen before
My message to the people that think it’s abuse: Irresponsible owners may abuse them, but all of riding is NOT abuse! 1. The saddles are made to fit the horse depending on your size and the horse 2. Saddle pads make it comfy for the horse and it’s better 3. Horses are very VERRY strong, horses are able to have the weight of a human on their back, some horses can only have a specific amount of weight on their back, so the rider fits that weight limit 4. The bits are made all different ways for different horse, one bit might be uncomfortable for one horse, but comfortable for another one. Horse abuse is terrible, but the is a difference between horse back riding and abuse!
Thank you, you are the first human that actualy said that; I totally agree with you. Abuse and right way horse riding are 2 complete deifferent things.
No, its not art, it is sport, also belongs to other cathegories, but not into art. Riding a horse is LEARNABLE, but art is not, at least REAL art is not.
My friends: horse riding isn’t a sport, it isent even exercise. Me: feel my thunder thighs *feels thighs* Friends: do u go to the gym Me: nope all I do is ride my horse
My friend said the same thing I just put her on my horse and for a month straight I tried to teach her how to ride and after the first week she cried from pain in her back and thighs
I hate when people say things like that. I say something about me, and then they say they also did it and then say they quit bc it's bad or something smh
I agree 100% with all 4 of you who replied. If you know what you're doing. I think that riding and training (both done properly) creates a bond of trust and love. If you you don't have that bond, something must be wrong with the person handler/trainer/rider, the horse needs to trust the person handler/trainer/rider, that bond gets established by showing love to the horse and that establishes trust with the horse. A horse is very smart and knows when it's loved and knows when it's abused. What I've noticed is that people that knows very little, if anything at all, don't realize that horse and rider are a team, that is what happens by bonding with trust and love. Both horse and rider become a team. To barrow a barrel racing saying; 3 barrels, 2 hearts, 1 goal! The way I see it, is the 1 goal is accomplished by bonding! Love develops trust, and both develops a loving bond.
I agree I ride and all my friends say it is easy and all u do is kick them and they think it is abuse but actually I care for horses as much as I care for my family and nothing is going to stop me and nothing is going to take my dream away from me 🐎I am horse mad! Like if you agree
Gemma Gostick you're right on! I agree 100% with you. It takes a lot of time and effort. People also don't realize the importance of suppleness and bonding! That bond between horse and rider is based on trust and love for each other!
Yea I don’t ride (I want to so bad tho) but I know it’s not easy... And yes some people abuse horses but.. some don’t I hate when people think it’s the easiest thing but it’s not.
I learn english in my school and we had a lesson about EXTREME SPORTS. Riding was not included...surfing, skateboarding and sky diving did. I don't say that those sporst are not extreme, but man, I've got soo mad!
Happy Animals I used to ride horses, it is (in my opinion) a test of skill that takes time and practice to get better at! You just don't throw a saddle on and kick them and go! I grew up around horses, I rode Western, bareback and saddled. I believe learning to be supple and the horse responding to my ques subtly! That's because you and horse become a team and understand each other! A prime example (in my opinion) of horse riding being hard and a challenge, three day Eventing, especially cross country!
The first time I fell of a horse I was 7. Later I found out I had broken 4 ribs. But I stil hot back in the saddle and finnished what I was doing that day.
I fell off for my first time when I was 7 too and I fell off because the horse bucked five times in a row! But I didn't break anything just had a bruise on my butt for a couple of days xD
The first ever time i fell was When I was 5 I got bucked off my horse and she went for me and I fractured my neck broke my arm and ancle everone called her dangrouse it was my fault she was being a typical mate and I put her in the wrong saddle by accident it hurt her and I'm sorry I still have her today and she's amazing she is retired but I love her with my7 other horses! Since then I fell off loads of times and broke 8 bones since then😂 I'm 15 btw😂
Broke my foot Got back into the saddle Broke my wrist Got back into the saddle Broke my thumb Got back into the saddle Friends: why are you wearing a cast? Me: no fell of my horse Friends: how do you fall out of a freaking chair? Me: *dies inside*
Cause it moves, has a mind of its own, is able to kill you but also is scared of plastic bags, and jumps. Sometimes has no sense of pain and runs your knees into barrels and poles, leaving bruises for a week. Hmmmmm...... I wonder why?
•{Matrix Eclipse}• then you expect someone to heave you over the saddle and take your corpse back to the barn like a cowboy who died in the shootout. I guess he always would get back in the saddle in that situation though..... maybe not under his own volition but definitely back in or on the saddle in some fashion.
I am a Western rider and I can relate sooo bad to this vid😞all these poeple think it is so easy😒Thanks for putting this video out it is very inspiring and know my friends understand wat it really is😌god bless you and have a wonderful day❤️
I am an English rider, many people at my school say "Riding isn't a sport, the horse should get the attention anyways because it carries YOU." But this is a video to prove them wrong!
I use a western saddle when I ride my trainers palomino, since he's used to western saddles, although I don't ride traditional western I hope to learn that sometime
i am a CRAZY!! horse rider and always get told that that my horse does all of the work. i 100% agree with you and loved this video I can tell you are an Amazing rider!! XX
I know how that feels. People even in my family have told me that I say go left horse, go right horse, jump that jump horse. Then Bam I'm am Grand Prix Winner. When ppl say that you cant let them get you down. There will always be ppl who really know what we do the saddle. ;)
I’m also a equestrian and I have so many people say either “it’s not a sport” “why do you wast your time on it” or “all that money gone to wast” but really if you think about they probably never had a “pet” that is so special to them. If your a non horse rider and you somehow find a video of horseback riding I want you to PAY ATTENTION to what their doing, it doesn’t matter if they just walking or trotting or if their cantering, jumping just listen then hopefully you’ll realize that you have nothing other to do so you think about random things and think what can be negative about them. Shame on you. ( and by you I mean people who say it’s not a sport or if you they say it’s “easy”) Do I talk to much 😝
The people who say horse back riding is abuse doesnt know what theyre talking about. My horse is family. If something ever happened to him... I don't know what I would do.
I go to horse riding classes and used to ride a horse that I adored with all my soul but unfortunately the real owners had to take him away. You just have to be strong and keep riding, I'm still very hurt that they took my best buddie but well...
I know exactly how you feel............ There is this horse name Cash at the barn I ride at he is 27 and he taught me everything I know today.....I know that it is coming but I don't want to say it or think it.........I love him soooo much. I don't know what I would ever do without him...
People tell me all the time “barrel racing is looks easy” I’m like are you crazy, I’m practice 24/7 to get like this. You have to get your horse in shape. And as your doing all that you have a lot of things running threw your head that you have to do to make sure you are doing it right and not giving your horse bad habits. Riding a horse is not easy and it requires a lot of hard work and dedication!!
I'm not a barrel racer, but some of the things I noticed about it, is knowing when to do a proper lead change from gallop to canter, where to start the turn, and try to not hit the barrel when going through the turn, then coming out of the turn, and going back into a gallop. (I do believe timing is important). Another important thing about equestrian sports is, horse and rider are a team, and becoming a team requires practicing together, to know how each other interacts with each other (just like any team sport). I do apologize to any one out there who do barrel race, if I missed or I have gotten wrong; please feel free to correct me, politely. I've thought of doing barrel racing. I like the barrel racing saying; 3 barrels, 2 hearts, 1 goal! I believe that any equestrian sports isn't easy. It takes a lot of time and effort. I 100% believe that people, that don't really ride, don't know much about riding horses. I'm not afraid to say, that I've got a lot to learn about horses and riding. I grew up around horses, but I never competed.
My mum was never a big fan of horse riding, but I started doing lessons and ever since she has also learned that it’s not just the ride sitting there, the rider does a lot of work too, and it is a sport. My mum now thinks it’s great that I’m enjoying it and she encourages it too, though she is always worried about my safety while she isn’t there just like any mother would when you’re *anywhere* without her.
Horse riding is incredible Sport and requires incredible athleticism. Anyone can see that unless they're jealous or not very bright. Also anyone can see that you have pictures someone or riding a horse using r o l l c u r. You'd have to be dumb to not realize how much this hurts the horse which ends up negating what could have been a really nice video about athleticism but all of the restraints you have on your horse are simply cruel
Same i have a 7 year old gelding who is a ball of energy and when people tell me something that is wrong about horse back riding i invite them over to try and ride him and they all back out😂
My friend told me the other day that “The horse does all the work.” I got mad and I want to prove her wrong. I told her I have cried so hard I wanted to give up many times, I kept going though. I told her I had got hurt so many times from riding. She still doesn’t believe me. I’m going to send her this and prove her wrong! Thank you for this video ❤️
Next time someone says the "horse does all the work" - ask them how the horse learned what to do. Then start at the beginning from ground work to precise gaits.
Typical day of horseback rider 1. Call the name of the horse as it calmly walks to me, it walks with ease to the tack room and remembers what are his kind matters and will thus with ease poop on the bucket and never on the floor like a true gentlemen. 2. Horse automatically puts the halter and leadrope on him, no problem at all. Even picks its own hooves by himself, not even a problem. 3. Tell the horse "get to the ring" and it neatly walks away through the tacking room to the ring, doesnt mind other horses. Sometimes they will have the occasional conversation, but they will never get violent. A majority of conversations will be about how horses love being bothered by flies and how they always get so calm once they're around. 4. Horse bends down in the ring so you can neatly sit down on the saddle. Horse will make sure to NEVER move once mounting as it should always. 5. tell horse to "walk" walks in perfect speed, no problem at all 6. Tell horse to "trot" trots automatically, kicking is not necessary, its just an excuse to abuse horses. 7. Tell horse to "canter" automatically gets on the right lead and will canter in the perfect speed, sometimes it will begin to go to the trot, but the occasional "hey can you go faster pls" does just the trick 8. Tell horse to stop "automatically teleportsto the tack room and looses the girth and neatly folds the stirrups for me. 9. Yell at horse for not taking the saddle to the storage because its too heavy for me. 10. Tell horse to walk back to its quarter Pretty easy to be quite honest.
King Macbeth: XD I agree. It is sooo easy. -Sarcastically says- the horse does everything by itself. We just sit there and watch RUclips and eat popcorn while riding. Jumps over 5 foot hurdle like stepping over a stick, no trouble at all. All us equestrians love horse back riding because we don't have to do anything and our families are supposevely "rich" and we are cute sassy "pink pony girls". We live lazy. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐎😒❤️
Just for a note, me and all the other riders in the world risk our lives because horse can easy knock us out......or worse so don't go around saying " i've ridden a horse i can do anything now " ( think again and this time think carefully ) because horses have a mind of their own!
Scout Yourself true story: *dont read if you can’t stand gruesome topics* a guy who used to live near where I ride was very experienced with horses and was one of the best in the state, he was riding his horse in from the paddock one day, the horse spooked and took of galloping, he fell off but had his arm caught in the reigns and his foot stuck in the stirrup, he was dragged along a barb wire fence, his groom thought he was taking a while to get in from the paddock (it was a massive paddock / pasture thing) and he found him dead with his head barely attached to his neck cause the barb wire had literally sawed through his neck. Horse riding is dangerous and one mistake could leave you dead. That day when he was riding he wasn’t paying attention, if he was assertive he probably would’ve survived. Another example: my instructor was at a jumping competition when she was in her teen years, she stopped paying attention as she prepared for a jump, the horse tripped over the jump and she flew over its head, by the time she looked back the horse was dead, it landed on its neck, broke it and died instantly. Yet another example: a girl my instructor was friends with (this was probably 10-15 years ago) had just gotten home from school and went out to the paddock to catch her horse to ride, they assume she had the lead rope over her shoulder and that she was on Facebook (they don’t know but when they found her the last thing on her phone was Facebook) , they believe the horse spooked and bolted and the lead rope somehow tangled around her neck and choked her to death/snapped her neck, her parents found her dead when they went to do the feed runs. Another example: a guy was practicing his xc course and his horse bolted, he fell off into the sand and got knocked out , except he was face down in the sand and suffocated. Another rider came across him and did cpr , he managed to resuscitate him and get him to the hospital but he died a couple hours later. Riding is dangerous and you can’t just sit there, so many people die because their not paying attention or taking the risks seriously
I do not have a horse But I go to a riding school I've been riding for 14 years Yes I do change riding schools but that's because I need a more expirienced one
Well done Ella! I love this project and can see how much love you put into it. I've never seen you ride before and I must compliment your skill. I hope that one day I can dedicate myself to something as much as you do with riding. Well done and good luck with riding in the future!
Soo true this makes me want to cry! In the good way! People have said all of these things! And people think just anyone could do it like most sports but you have to be born to do it! Love this! ~The horse girl Grace
Learning to ride, is a very demanding sport, there's always something to learn and practice! It's also physically demanding. So many people think, "It's not that hard to ride a horse!" or, "I've ridden a horse before, so I know how to ride!" Horse riding is something to put a lot of love, time, and effort into! A true equestrian knows, there is always something to learn! The creator of this video shows the difference of just being a rider or being a true equestrian!
I agree with this video. Horse and rider work together to become a team. Both learn from each other by bonding through trust and love. For example, It's like barrel racing, 3 barrels, 2 hearts, and one goal. That goal is becoming one team between horse and rider. Horse riding is a lot skill and fun! Thanks for making and sharing this video, it's awesome!
Night Fluff horse and rider are a team. I think that a horse knows it's rider/handler/trainer working with a horse, or even starting ground work to get the horse ready for the saddle is a bonding process, that is based on love. Horses know what love is, and that creates a bond between horse and rider! If a rider shows the horse love, it will show love back to you!
People who say horse riding is not a sport: Horse riding is not a sport you just sit there Me: alright then all sports where you sit are not real sports Them: O_O
this is so true non of my non horse friends even care about the labor we go through with everyday just to sit on their backs and ride them. no one will ever understand
I hate people who think that all non-riders are mean and think these things I love horses just as much as you I just don't have the facilities or money to ride them like you do. I understand that it's hard the horse doesn't do all the work and yes it is a sport it's a blinking fascinating one at the least. I have really worked hard about building my knowledge on horse back riding and horses in general. I hope you realise how lucky you are and I really hope you are happy as well x
Things a Horse rider has to think about/do at the same time: 1. Heels down toes up at all times, in or out of the stirrups. 2.Look at where you have to be next, let your attention wander and your horse will feel that and try to go to the direction your looking and/or leaning. 3. Sit so that your stomach muscles are tense, but not your shoulders; too relaxed and your flop in the saddle, too stiff and you'll bounce like a sack of potatoes. 4. Feel your horse starting to slow? Be sensitive to this and ask them to keep going with your feet. 5. Much like a child spying an opportunity to not have to work so hard, a horse often has what it sometimes called a stop-spot; sure that while nearing this spot, you ask them to to keep going. 6. Grip with the inner thighs only, (not the rest of your legs) as this helps to keep you alert, and lowers the chances of you getting bucked off should the horse spook. 7. Elbows straight at your sides; once again not so stiff that your shoulders stiffen as well, but not so relaxed that start flapping like a chicken. Then the reins would slap against the horse neck, which could lead to a number of things. I wouldn't be surprised if I missed something, but these are some of the things riders either have to be thinking about by default, (default meaning this doesn't even include the separate disciplines and/or steps they have to learn sometimes) or that is now already second nature to them and they can then focus on learning the task at hand.
I have always wanted to be an aquestrian horse rider...M-My parents say they talk about it but they never do if they do I would be in horse riding a long time ago...I understand everything you are saying. I just wish my parents would understand as much as I do...I AM CRYING INSIDE
@@erickdiaz3676 How about actually ride a horse, not go on a nose to butt trail ride, train for hours, and then tell me what ya think because you have NO right to say someones sport isnt hard when youve never actually done it.
This is told beautifully! I ride and people in my school don't understand how hard it is to ride and they act just like we sit there and my friends say, "I want a horse." but, they don't know how much it costs so I say, "You have to pay for boarding, vet bills, farrier bills, lesson fee(s)! Not just how much it is to buy it!" And also, my classmates (more known as the boys) bully me and no one else because I love and animal that weighs 1,200 pounds, is 6 feet tall, and they also act like "horses" and they are just rude and I try to say, "You know, riding is not easy and "Oh yeah you just hold onto the strings and put your feet in the circles and sit there" But, they never listen. Anyway, nicely put together and I hope non-riders listen.🐴
You may say it's not easy but when you love hard work and your horse. As in your horse is your best friend. Yes a Lot of people don't enjoy hard work but I for one need it! (I don't mean to put this video down! It was a great vid! and true.... keep going!)
I agree with everything you say all of my friends say horse riding is easy I'm a horse rider and I have fallen off many times but I got back on they just don't understand
I agree, Every rider falls but we don't give up, just as if you were playing soccer, but harder, more complex, more training, more love, and more time.
First time I cantered I was riding bare back and it was completely by accedently. I was happy that I have great balence and 8 years of gymnastics helped me with the balence otherwise I am sure I would have fallen off.
Amanda Stinnett Yeah That stuff happens I have been thrown off into jump fences Been jumped on by Larger horses been Bucked In the ribs I have had many injuries like broken Legs and ribs Arms and MANY bruises I keep riding. No matter how many times I fall no matter how many times I am Injured I will ALWAYS Get back in that saddle.Thats MY passion for riding. If you will not do that for horses You have No passion.
Oof. Must’ve hurt. I’m preparing myself for a fall in the future because I recently started leasing a horse that sometimes gets a bit... excited and bucks/bolts
I ride, but rarely. Very inspirational, all I want to do is ride. My brother once said it wasn’t a sport and u don’t get tired at all I tried to prove him wrong so I decided to show him this, he teases me about horses too, but when I ride I feel amazing! Very true, love it ❤️
Oh my God there are not enough words in the world to describe how much joy I feel right now you were shed so much light on what no one else sees on the darkness of the world I’ve been constantly told that it’s easy that I just sit there it aggravates me so much and all I can say is you’re wrong because if I go into the depths of it I might talk for hours so thank you you speak for all of us equestrians we all feel the exact same way and if you don’t do you have experienced the struggle thank you you are an amazing person for this much love your fellow equestrian ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this! I am a rider myself, and I wish people could really see what we do, the risks we take, the dangers we face. The love we feel, the dedication we give, the bravery we have, and the strain we go through. Thank you for making this. Thank you for speaking up. Thank you for showing and telling what we do. Thank you for this.
horse riding is a different sport, and me being a swimmer may find it weird and i stand at a non biased opinion since i love horses. i feel that there is a certain level that you have to surpass to count it as a sport. if you are on a trail ride, let’s say, and just steering your horse around, i consider it as an activity. but once you start doing strenuous work, then i consider it a sport. there are different levels of it being a sport and it being an activity. but otherwise this is a very good video! note: by “strenuous activity” i mean jumping, cantering, and so on.
Hiya Karoline, I come from a competitive swimming background too, but the truth for me is that this was actually the ambitious wishes of my parents . Sure folks may even say that I can swim like a fish. So What? My Heart is with Horses
If all you do is ride around a ring on a calm plodding horse for a half hour, it's not much physically. If you ride often under many different circumstances, you have to develop keen balance, torso and leg strength while mentally paying constant attention to the horse and the surroundings, ready to react when the horse reacts. You cannot relax at all; it is not easy. Still, it should not be a competitive sport. Just ride your horse and enjoy doing so just for yourself.
@Student Mackynze Wolfe - "Sport" indicates a construct of competition. Are you riding a bucking horse in competition with others who are riding a bucking horse and being judged by others? If not, it's not a sport. As to whether or not riding a bucking horse is challenging physically and mentally, that's a whole other discussion. If your horse is always trying to buck you off, something is very wrong with your horsemanship. If you "do what you do" you're doing it wrong. Go back to patient ground work (if you were ever there in the first place).
Ok i agree with the trail riding part but it’s also not that easy either because on a trail ride you don’t just steer the horse you also have to keep it going which depending on the type of horse you have is not as easy as it sounds and you constantly have to think “what will spook my horse out here”
This is a very good video! I relate... every time someone asks if I do sports, I look them straight in the eye and tell them, “Yes. I’m an equestrian.”
Thank you so much for making this and I hope people actually see this video and actually think about all the things us horseback riders have to go through. I hope people finally realize that not all sports have to involve a ball or having to dance and that there’s more to horseback riding than just sitting on the horses back.💛
Horse riding is more then a sport. Each and everyday riders are putting there life at risk, anything could happen, like this video said you never know when your going to get hurt. We are kicked, we are bit, we are thrown off and we ALWAYS get back on. People don’t understand the risk we are taking, you could be thrown off in front of ur horse get squashed to death, a rotational fall could happen at any moment. When I started riding, my parents sat me down and said “do u know the risk you are taking?” I said yes but the truth was I did Not know how dangerous it was, I have seen people get hurt from riding but I always though oh I will be ok. One day my sister was thrown off, the next morning I realized how many bruises she had, and that’s when I started to have anxiety, I’m scared to jump over 3,3 because I don’t wan’t something to happen to me. Luckily, I can trust my horse, and I can trust my coach that she will help me get through it. I have been riding for almost 6 years now and I’m going into 3,0 soon, I have never fallen off, but ik it will come soon. This is a Great message to non-riders, keep up all the good work and I hope everyone stays safe.
I ride horses and it's super fun but tiring. I go riding 3 times a week and I fall asleep once I get home but I still love the sport. It's graceful and smooth but also hard and ruff. Also getting a horse to canter or gallop for how long you want it to is very very hard. So those people who don't ride horses I hope you take notice.
Random person: What kind of sport do you do? Me and my friend: Horseback riding. Person: That's not a sport and isn't it easy? Me and my friend: *looks at one another* Were giving you a 5 second head start so you better start running!
Others: You think being an equestrian is hard? You literally just sit there. You don’t get hurt. Look at hockey and football. They get more hurt. Like seriously. Are you stupid? I took an eight foot fall from a horse. I blacked out as I fell.. when I hit the ground I saw my hand under my body. It was bent to the back of my hand. I didn’t blame the horse.. cause what type of equestrian would I be if I blamed the horse? A bad one. Every nudge. Every time you take a hand off your reins. Anything could happen. My hand is okay. The horse who is named sweetie, Is now retired because of her limp and elder ness. She was sweet while I r Had ridden her.
Just wanna say that even though riding is a dangerous sport and you need quite a bit of bravery and strength it's okay to be scared and it's okay to cry. I still cry sometimes when I fall off and it's fine because that shit hurts. You don't have to suck it up and if you really hurt yourself badly please don't get back on. You're not ruining your pride by not riding or learning things a bit slower than everyone else. It isn't a straight progression from bad to good, it's a lot more crazy than that. I just switched barns a little while ago which took like a year and the only riding I did during that time was on my draft. So now I have to relearn how to canter and jump because I couldn't do that and I'm scared at times even though I could do it easily a year ago. Anyway the whole point of this rant is you are not invincible physically or emotionally and your well-being comes before anything else.
damn girl i got da chills. could not have said it better. i really loved "if your saying it looks like were not doing anything, its a compliment" cuz i never thought it like that so thank you. I cant say how many arguments ive had with my parents, school mates, even my best friend!! that its more than meets the eye. i've been teased, kicked out of friend groups, called names behind my back, etc just for doing what I love. This was so true and more need to see this.
Someone else: That's not a sport! It's easy! Me who fell from a horse several times, breaking several bones: It's not easy.. Them: Yes it is... *My friends running and scattering*
Finally someone that gets it, I started riding about 7 months ago, and I’ve officially found my passion. I’ve bonded with not only many horses but other people that ride at my barn. And I’ve learned not only how to soar over jumps with my horse, but also to work hard for what I want to achieve. I’ve fallen, I’ve lost horses, and It’s been rough in such a short period of time. Yet every time I talk to a friend that hasn’t truly bonded with a horse, or even rode one at a faster pace then a trot, says that it’s like sitting in a chair. I’m so glad that people finally understand the time, heart, money, effort, patience, trust, and energy that this takes.
I agree So much!!! People think, "Oh it's just so easy, like sitting on a box." or whatever but it is not. You have to keep the horse calm, remember what you need to do to keep them comfortable, You need to move with their movements to make them calmer. It is not "Just sitting down" It is also not that because they are animals. Living creatures. And when you, fall. The horse cares. Doesn't just run off and leave you. Tysm for making this video. and I hope people who think "Horse Riding isn't a sport" See this.
I am so shook about how good and so true this video is next time one of my friends tell me horse riding is abuse or easy this is what I am going to show them.
I haven’t even started riding before but two of my friends does and it looks like they go to the gym but they have many bruises I saw them ride once and I could already see how hard it is But good look to every rider and hope u have an good life / day :)
Ok. This is not hate. People have made horse riding a sport. They have made it a sport it was meant to be means of transportation. Yes the horses have to practice because it is difficult for them. They aren’t meant to do dressage. Yes they require love but when you make them do things like some dressage, it is not natural for them. It is hard on the horses. They have to learn something they aren’t accustomed to. Yes you should love and care for them, but I believe that by doing that you should do things they are more comfortable with. Things more natural to them. Yes they are willing to do it but they are willing out of love. Do we go out and do things that we wouldn’t naturally do without anyone encouraging us? No not usually. It can get annoying when somebody just wants you to do it and I think people need to understand that about horses, and they need to think about it more. Again I’m not trying to hate, but I believe that it is much more work for the Horse.
I understand where your coming from totally, But you can't go use a race horse and just train it dressage overnight, Yes Some horses are not made for dressage, Jumping,Racing. But that's why there trained and there breeds for that type of sport :)
It is far more natural for them to do dressage than jumping, everyone just assumes differently because of rollkur and I don’t like that and by no means use it but I’m a dressage rider.
Yeah, they are very hard on the horse. But dressage particularly is like teaching dogs tricks. It's mentally engaging and as long as it's done by the right person, it isn't uncomfortable. A lot of jumpers do love it and a lot of racehorses love it. It's just the difference between horses and what they're suited too. Idk if that makes any sense lol
I’ve been throws off so many times and kicked and bucked off and everything and still got back in the saddle and horses are amazing they help you so much it’s incredible!!
It can open its mouth. The noseband doesn’t keep its mouth shut it just holds the bridle on. My horse can open her mouth all the way open to yawn. You clearly know nothing about horses.
I love horses i world love to do that too but we are not so really rich we are happy what we have and i already know that horses have there own mind...sooo
I love this! It's so true everyday I get told horse riding isn't a sport, the horses do all the work, etc. Everytime I get mad and when I try to explain to them they don't understand. This message perfect for so many people in the world to hear. Thank you for sharing your message about horse riding.❤🐎
This is sooo true!! A lot of people think it's not a sport, but if they would get on a horse, they would not know how to ride. It takes practice, skill and also bravery. And love, just to be with your horse.
This is beautiful. So true, and the people who call it "Stupid, easy, and Sport? HA! NO." I am about to start jumping, and I know it will be hard. Peace to all of the riders out there who have been through falls, refusals, and everything else imaginable. Getting back on is one of the hardest things to do, but we all do it. Not because we *want* to. But because we *love* them and would push ourselves to do anything for our horses. That, is what horse riding is all about. *Trust, Love, and Perseverance* .
Thank you for for making this video. As a rider I've had what seem's like millions of people who have told me "its easy" or "it shouldn't be a sport".I will now share this with them.once again, thank you.sincerely Eva
Preach honey this all is so true I’m so glad someone’s finally said it.... all my non horse riding friend say it’s not a sport all you do is sit there and the horse does everything for you I’m like uhh no that is not true
I loved listening to this so much! I'm a horse rider and I hate it when someone says horse riding is easy. I have been riding horses for years and finally got one of my own. She's not fully trained so I know the pain of owning a horse. Thx for making a video that can help people understand horses.☺️
Horseriding is one of the only three sports that use every muscle in our body along with ballet and swimming
Good
Riding horses is more dangerous than football, and I had kids from my High school football team break bones, because you can fall off and knock the wind out of you. The horse can kick you, buck you off, and many more painful things, luckily I haven't had those things happen to me but my trainer had that happen before
Would you give the link, please?
My message to the people that think it’s abuse:
Irresponsible owners may abuse them, but all of riding is NOT abuse!
1. The saddles are made to fit the horse depending on your size and the horse
2. Saddle pads make it comfy for the horse and it’s better
3. Horses are very VERRY strong, horses are able to have the weight of a human on their back, some horses can only have a specific amount of weight on their back, so the rider fits that weight limit
Couldn't have said it better
Ava Spencer you for got how crops can be used to be for extension of the leg. Although they can be used for beating
Bits are abuse!
se
Bits kant comfortable for ent horse!
Every time someone tells me it's not a sport I say:" You're right. It's art"❤
poetry in motion
Hahahahaha
@Cassidy Morrow yeah XD
No, its not art, it is sport, also belongs to other cathegories, but not into art. Riding a horse is LEARNABLE, but art is not, at least REAL art is not.
It is an art, a skill that develops over time, art basically meaning skills: are something that takes time, effort, and practice! So yes it is an art!
My friends: horse riding isn’t a sport, it isent even exercise.
Me: feel my thunder thighs
*feels thighs*
Friends: do u go to the gym
Me: nope all I do is ride my horse
My friend said the same thing I just put her on my horse and for a month straight I tried to teach her how to ride and after the first week she cried from pain in her back and thighs
@Student Mackynze Wolfe exactly

Someone: Oh I did that too, but I stopped because i think it’s abuse!
Me: arghhh! You better start running.....
MKHSLIMERZZ it is abuse if you don't do it right. But if you do it right it the most beautiful partnership in the world
@@maddigrace7071 Just like everything else. Having a kid isn't abuse unless you do it wrong. So it's not unless you are mentally crazy ;))
I hate when people say things like that.
I say something about me, and then they say they also did it and then say they quit bc it's bad or something smh
Thank u for setting that straight I also hate when people say that it is the horse's fault if u call off but the person chose to get on the horse
I hate when people say like if you agree
Yeah I agree it is sooo annoying btw I ride bitless
Why are they your friends
You joking! Skate boarding yet no riding!!
Because equestrian is sorted as high risk sport, not extreme.
Happy Animals I skate board a lot and it’s a lot easier than horse riding. It is hardly dangerous compared to horse riding.
No disrespect to skateboarders but how the fuck is it harder than riding xDD
The first time I ever fell was when I was 10 when the horse I was riding refused at a jump and I basically flipped off the horse 😬
Horse World does that mean u are paralysed if u broke u neck
Horse World if u broke u neck u be paralysed dead or something so u would never be able to ride or walk again
What a beautiful horse. Amazing video, also bousted my sisters confidence!
Broke my foot
Got back into the saddle
Broke my wrist
Got back into the saddle
Broke my thumb
Got back into the saddle
Friends: why are you wearing a cast?
Me: no fell of my horse
Friends: how do you fall out of a freaking chair?
Me: *dies inside*
Cause it moves, has a mind of its own, is able to kill you but also is scared of plastic bags, and jumps. Sometimes has no sense of pain and runs your knees into barrels and poles, leaving bruises for a week. Hmmmmm...... I wonder why?
No matter what happens you ALWAYS get back on the saddle.
Unless you die, but thats a whole different ball game.
•{Matrix Eclipse}• then you expect someone to heave you over the saddle and take your corpse back to the barn like a cowboy who died in the shootout. I guess he always would get back in the saddle in that situation though..... maybe not under his own volition but definitely back in or on the saddle in some fashion.
told my friend I was sore from horse riding, she laughed at me. .-.
I feel that
I am a Western rider and I can relate sooo bad to this vid😞all these poeple think it is so easy😒Thanks for putting this video out it is very inspiring and know my friends understand wat it really is😌god bless you and have a wonderful day❤️
Vanlog Freight same
Vanlog Freight I wanna try barrel racing, I jump but I’m still a country girl in heart ♥️
Yes, especially western as it looks more laid back than english
I am an English rider, many people at my school say "Riding isn't a sport, the horse should get the attention anyways because it carries YOU." But this is a video to prove them wrong!
I use a western saddle when I ride my trainers palomino, since he's used to western saddles, although I don't ride traditional western I hope to learn that sometime
i am a CRAZY!! horse rider and always get told that that my horse does all of the work. i 100% agree with you and loved this video I can tell you are an Amazing rider!! XX
lucy luscombe the only work the horse really does is the moving (walking, trotting, etc, just so you don’t get the wrong idea)
lucy luscombe I get that too. it get annoying after a while. I can't handle it
I know how that feels.
( and by you I mean people who say it’s not a sport or if you they say it’s “easy”)
Do I talk to much 😝
You don’t talk to much! Trust me I have met people way worse. Trust me
The people who say horse back riding is abuse doesnt know what theyre talking about.
Ignorance condems what it doesn't understand.
My horse comes 1st. Always. I'd rather be hurt than him. He's my life/world. My LOVE.
And kneecaps of steel for when your leg get smacked into a barrel
I like the barrel racing saying;
3 barrels, 2 hearts, 1 goal! I believe that any equestrian sports isn't easy. It takes a lot of time and effort. I 100% believe that people, that don't really ride, don't know much about riding horses. I'm not afraid to say, that I've got a lot to learn about horses and riding. I grew up around horses, but I never competed.
If I had a dollar for every time I've knocked over a barrel and gotten a bruise I could buy myself a saddle.
So true
My mum was never a big fan of horse riding, but I started doing lessons and ever since she has also learned that it’s not just the ride sitting there, the rider does a lot of work too, and it is a sport. My mum now thinks it’s great that I’m enjoying it and she encourages it too, though she is always worried about my safety while she isn’t there just like any mother would when you’re *anywhere* without her.
This is literally the exact same as my mum! So relatable!
If only others could experience what you're mom did. I am glad that she is supporting you.
Horse riding is incredible Sport and requires incredible athleticism. Anyone can see that unless they're jealous or not very bright. Also anyone can see that you have pictures someone or riding a horse using r o l l c u r. You'd have to be dumb to not realize how much this hurts the horse which ends up negating what could have been a really nice video about athleticism but all of the restraints you have on your horse are simply cruel
barbara collins is this directed at me?
No, sorry for the confusion!
Whenever people tell me riding is easy I invite them to come ride my horse. They all back off then lmao
Same i have a 7 year old gelding who is a ball of energy and when people tell me something that is wrong about horse back riding i invite them over to try and ride him and they all back out😂

I have a green Quarter horse grade mare ( 14 hands!) so she got some attitude. Never tell them all that I just invite them hahahah

Riding is not sport, its art
I consider the source. It's usually ignorance, or pure jealously. They're gutless to get on a 1200 lb animal that thinks for itself.
I admire that you didn't give up on horses. 🥇🏆
Chad Wassemiller awe of course! Thank you so much!
Next time someone says the "horse does all the work" -
ask them how the horse learned what to do. Then start at the
beginning from ground work to precise gaits.
Typical day of horseback rider
5. tell horse to "walk" walks in perfect speed, no problem at all
6. Tell horse to "trot" trots automatically, kicking is not necessary, its just an excuse to abuse horses.
7. Tell horse to "canter" automatically gets on the right lead and will canter in the perfect speed, sometimes it will begin to go to the trot, but the occasional "hey can you go faster pls" does just the trick
8. Tell horse to stop "automatically teleportsto the tack room and looses the girth and neatly folds the stirrups for me.
9. Yell at horse for not taking the saddle to the storage because its too heavy for me.
10. Tell horse to walk back to its quarter
Pretty easy to be quite honest.
(Don't know why it put a line through "sarcastically says" XD ❤️🐎
This was so funny. XD
King Macbeth omg maybe u should try to ride a horse it's not easy or maybe u guys just aren't good riders
King Macbeth wow I know nothing air head

Haha
haha know who's right you are!!
That's just rude? You knew the horse was going to do that. So for you to put someone else's life in jeopardy just to "prove" a point was unlawful.
I'm an equestrian and I totally agree ❤❤

Chad Wassemiller exactly
I agree with this video. Horse and rider work together to become a team. Both learn from each other by bonding through trust and love.
For example, It's like barrel racing, 3 barrels, 2 hearts, and one goal. That goal is becoming one team between horse and rider. Horse riding is a lot skill and fun! Thanks for making and sharing this video, it's awesome!
Chad Wassemiller I love that! “3 barrels, 2 hearts, 1 goal.” 👏👏👏👏
People who say horse riding is not a sport: Horse riding is not a sport you just sit there
Me: alright then all sports where you sit are not real sports
Them: O_O
if it's not a sport why are there competitions for it and why is it in the Olympics

this is so true non of my non horse friends even care about the labor we go through with everyday just to sit on their backs and ride them. no one will ever understand
Equine Kenz my sister does that and has never ride or touched or even seen a horse really close and acts like she knows everything about them
Equine Kenz
Same with me 🙁🐎🏇🐴
this is a perfect explanation
Emma Roset yes!!!!!!
Things a Horse rider has to think about/do at the same time:
Non riders don't understand at all you need to be connected with your horse, trust, empathy, determinatation but it's all worth it for the horse🐎🐴🏇🏾
I have always wanted to be an aquestrian horse rider...M-My parents say they talk about it but they never do if they do I would be in horse riding a long time ago...I understand everything you are saying. I just wish my parents would understand as much as I do...I AM CRYING INSIDE

I agree, Every rider falls but we don't give up, just as if you were playing soccer, but harder, more complex, more training, more love, and more time.
i ride horses and I am learning to canter I fell of today and have bruises everywhere it's not easy one bit
Amanda Stinnett you got up this stuff happens it’s apart it
First time I cantered I was riding bare back and it was completely by accedently.
I love this I don’t know why but I almost cried and this is sooooooooo ture
Horse Crazy omg sameeeeee! (Hi mk, it’s avi)
Last year I had a friend who didn’t think riding was a sport. I put him on my horse (Safely of course). After ten minutes his views were changed.
karin brouwers I wish I could’ve see their face when they realized they can’t feel their legs as soon as they get off.
Thank you for making this video just started riding and I love it. Finally someone who understands.
I ride, but rarely. Very inspirational, all I want to do is ride. My brother once said it wasn’t a sport and u don’t get tired at all I tried to prove him wrong so I decided to show him this, he teases me about horses too, but when I ride I feel amazing! Very true, love it ❤️
I love horses and it's not all the horses work and yes it is a sport
This whole video I was thinking "My god that Friesian!" He's so beautiful!
Yeah hi, I’m a non-rider. Only because I can’t afford it 😂 I’d love to do western. Not everyone who doesn’t ride thinks it’s easy...
@The Pupito Pals very true
we know but TOO MANY non-riders do! edit:thanks for saying this though.
Lol i swim and horse back ride as well
Ok i agree with the trail riding part but it’s also not that easy either because on a trail ride you don’t just steer the horse you also have to keep it going which depending on the type of horse you have is not as easy as it sounds and you constantly have to think “what will spook my horse out here”
All the children in my class say that horse riding isn't a sport and I get so angry
i love this video its so true, she is a bit over dramatic but its a good point
This is a very good video! I relate... every time someone asks if I do sports, I look them straight in the eye and tell them, “Yes. I’m an equestrian.”
Thank you so much for making this and I hope people actually see this video and actually think about all the things us horseback riders have to go through. I hope people finally realize that not all sports have to involve a ball or having to dance and that there’s more to horseback riding than just sitting on the horses back.💛
*sigh* i wish everyone in my school could see this and understand
Brooke Holland,
Omg sooo true!! Thank you for posting this comment.
Ella I love this video it really show what really is going on in are mines ❤️🐎 Thank you 😊
Its so iretating if non riders say that 😡 horse riding is not a sport but it is😬
Trine Honoré Ikr It makes me so mad when people tell me that, and im over here struggling to stand because of a long and hard lesson on my horse
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!! This is so very true on every word you just said. Thank you.
This is so true thank you sooo much for doing this and so many people think that it is easy and my family does too and it hurts me so bad
Oh my god this couldent be more true!!
I love Horses! And Ridding. Horses work hard for them and we work hard for Horses
I am going to show this to my fricking class mates🐎
LOL!
She was sweet while I r
Had ridden her.
Yes also we dont get carried away with a stretcher
that was amazing I really loved it and enjoyed it.
*My friends running and scattering*
i ride more than i do my homework
Ik heb gister gereden bij Hallinckveld ❤️❤️❤️❤️
People think, "Oh it's just so easy, like sitting on a box." or whatever
but it is not.
And that my friends is the truth I applaud to you 👍👏
HOW MANY TIME DO I HAVE TO SAY IT ITS NOT A SPORT.
it's so much more than a sport
I was almost killed by a horse but I still continue to put my life in their hands
I am so shook about how good and so true this video is next time one of my friends tell me horse riding is abuse or easy this is what I am going to show them.
I haven’t even started riding before but two of my friends does and it looks like they go to the gym but they have many bruises I saw them ride once and I could already see how hard it is
But good look to every rider and hope u have an good life / day :)
My friends: riding is easy
Me: laughing at them when I let them try and they fall off
It is not easy let me tell you hard for horse and rider
Again I’m not trying to hate, but I believe that it is much more work for the
Horse.
WinterFrost Stables I agree it is a lot on the horse and the rider but more on the horse
People are not mean't to kick a ball around for absolutely no reason. Your point does not make sense
I’ve been throws off so many times and kicked and bucked off and everything and still got back in the saddle and horses are amazing they help you so much it’s incredible!!
I love this video! Everything you said is so true! I always think about if my heals are down enough
dont you see that the black horse wants to open its mouth?
It can open its mouth. The noseband doesn’t keep its mouth shut it just holds the bridle on. My horse can open her mouth all the way open to yawn. You clearly know nothing about horses.
I love horses i world love to do that too but we are not so really rich we are happy what we have and i already know that horses have there own mind...sooo
Sis riding isn’t a sport
It’s a fricken lifestyle
I love this! It's so true everyday I get told horse riding isn't a sport, the horses do all the work, etc. Everytime I get mad and when I try to explain to them they don't understand. This message perfect for so many people in the world to hear. Thank you for sharing your message about horse riding.❤🐎
This is sooo true!! A lot of people think it's not a sport, but if they would get on a horse, they would not know how to ride. It takes practice, skill and also bravery. And love, just to be with your horse.
I ride but this is a bit over the top it's no that hard 😐
MagentaWolf0 what kind of riding do you do? Not trying to start an argument, please don't take it like that. Genuinely curious.
.... youre obviously only used to little riding school ponies .....
Trust me, being a beginner is easy... wait till you start cantering
HorseLover 539 I understand what u saying, but she did exaggerate a little bit
HorseLover 539 I did start cantering but none of that matters now because my horse died of cancer just before Christmas. 😭❤️I love u Ali
