Love your the videos keep it up
Brown lost the captaincy and his falling productive was in large part due to issues with Daryl Sutter. Sutter had him playing on 3rd and 4th line.
Dustin Brown has 299 NHL goals. If he had a great set of hands, he'd have 500 and be a lock for the HOF. The guy was always in the right place to score (especially in his prime) and, frustratingly, often failed to find the back of the net. That said, as a Kings fan since the early 70's, I love and respect what Brown has done and meant to the organization.
brown should go down as one of the best grinders in the modern day era. while he wasnt a gamechanger in the regular season, he knew how to win in the playoffs with his physical play and pounding in front of the net, i dont know why im talking about him like his careers over, guess it just feels like it
Much love and respect to Brownie now that he's retiring at the end of this season.
Dustin Brown was in the right place in game 3 against the Vancouver Canucks in 2012 when he nailed that one timer and it found the back of the net.
Being a captain isn’t about points
It is anymore to some teams 🤷♀️
it should be about leading to team throughh rough seasons till your are able to hold the cup
Alyssa Hope nahhhh
Mike Schwab I cant believe I even clicked on this video...I shoulda known not to listen to this bitch🤣
Alyssa Hope maybe to draw more attention to the player/team
The Kings did not make the conference final in 2011. The Sharks did. Also, the Sharks lost in the conference final in 2004, not the quarterfinals.
Blair Salzen oops 🤷♂️
Yup I was just thinking that. I was like naw we got our asses handed by the sharks in 6 games in the first round haha
Vincent Lecavalier (former captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning), was stripped of the captaincy after frequently clashing with John Tortorella (his coach at the time).
captain has no direct relation to points and goals production, its about being a leader on and off the ice.
Joe Kar look at Chara
Speaking moistly!
It does have a direct relation to points, I’m sorry but you’re wrong. If you’re a forward who’s completely inept at playing hockey, you can’t wear the C. Even if you’re a great leader. Part of that is leading *by example*. How tf can you be inspiring if you aren’t performing??? Show me ONE current captain who sucks at their position but is a good captain. You can’t. They all perform highly. If they don’t, they’re a bad captain.
@@wilhelmvg9978 if you think points are the only thing that makes you good at hockey you are sorely mistaken.......
@@wilhelmvg9978 you dont get it
there was a kid in my team who lost captaincy. It was the coaches son and he thought he was better than everyone else when the whole season he had only scored once. We lost a game 5-1 one time so he decided it would be a good idea to smash his stick against the ice so hard that it snapped, pushed one of the parents, and shouted profanity at the rest of us. Needless to say, he lost captaincy and was moved down to the second line
It’s hard being a sharks fan 😭
Yep it sucks🥺
Well I’m in sj and a sharks fan buttt I don’t follow hockey so it’s easy for me😂
1:53 The King's didn't make it to the Conference Finals in 09-10
Lost to Canucks in 6 in the first round.
After watching this whole video, I still have no idea why any of these players were stripped of the captaincy.
Brown: underperforming, ice time being taken away. Cant have a C riding the bench.
Marleau: The sharks took the C and the A's because the team was underperforming.
Modano: He just gave up trying at the end of his career and Morrow was just hitting his prime.
Hull: Keenan said Hull was "taking nights off". Hull started talking shit about Keenan to the media. Keenan took the C
Thornton: Exact same reason as Marleau just like 4 years later. Sharks took the C and A's
She put in very little effort in this video, she would have had her C taken away as well.
@@elGringo69 thanks my guy
Mike Modano did retire in Dallas. He just did not play a final full season with us. We signed him for one day just so he could rightfully retire with us.
Awesome video! Also- your outdo music sounds incredibly familiar but I can’t pinpoint it- what is it from?
Stranger Things opening ?
Love your videos. Do 5 best defenseman captains
Could have added Roberto Luongo as Canucks Captain upon Naslund Retirement. Then passing the C on to Sedin!
Nice videos all your videos are aweome
Also I love your videos! These are the best hockey videos on RUclips
Excellent video!! Great analysis too, I like how you go in depth about why the captaincy for these players got taken away. Keep up the good work. 🙂
My dad is a fan of the Montreal Canadiens and he says that their captains don't lose captaincy, they get traded
The agony of a great sport , thanx !!When it comes down to motivation of a team , that's evident .
Alyssa I never comment, but I have to tell you I just love your videos!!!!! It shows dedication and research (so much) and not baseless opinions. Just love your content. Cheers from Chile 🇨🇱.
I bought a sharks jersey with Thornton's name on the back in the winter of 2008 and I told the store owner I wanted the C on my jersey instead of the A. Thornton was the captain of the sharks yet. I had the C on my jersey before Thornton had the C on his jersey. Now Thornton isn't captain anymore and I still have the C on my jersey.
There are a number of discrepancies and misinformation contained in this video.

@@tuck50 but hes right wtf lol
As always
Why do people think players wear the c because they're a good player?
All Captains are good players , a lot have been great players .
Bdog not true
It’s more about being a leader. For example, this year in Vancouver Bo Horvat got the C due to his leadership ability despite Elias Pettersson being the team’s best player
Stupidity is why some think wearing the c means your good
they're not their
Keep up the good work love your content!!
It's crazy, Brownie won two cups as a Captain. But got better after losing the C on his jersey
Videos are amazing keep it up thx for keeping me entertained
Top Hockey content makers.

@Mike Schwab ohnyquist*
Damn no love for my boy Neil from Post2Post
top shelf hockey
LA winning a cup in 20 games is not appreciated as much as it should be an average of 4-1 a series for a team that truly was not the best every year they made it is something to be proud of AND THEN winning the cup coming in dead last in the conference? Jeeeebbusss
Probably the most dominant Stanley Cup of the decade.
they were up 3-0 on presidents trophy winning, vancouver, before losing game 4, then won gm5. They then swept the #2 seed in st louis, who set a post-expansion era record with 155 goals against (excluding the '95 and '13 lockouts) before upsetting the coyotes in the same fashion as the canucks. Up 3-0, lose one, then close it in 5. Although...phoenix didnt deserve 3rd place as they were 6th in points in the western conference, even fewer than their first-round opponent (chicago). They only clinched 3rd spot on behest of winning their division.
Looking at the finals, now, its a cinderella story even more epic then the 2010 eastern conference finals - when philly, 7th, defeated montreal, 8th, in five games. the flyers pulled off a reverse-sweep vs boston, whilst the canadiens overcame a 1-3 deficit over washington, then took defending cup champions, pittsburgh, to 7, and won - as the devils, who ranked 6th in east, upset 2 teams, including the second best squad that season in the rangers on their way to making the cup final. in a truly legendary ending, the series lasted 6 games.. the one boring part is that l.a, again, took a 3-0 advantage. as such, new jersey was no match for the kings, whom i believe finished 10-1 on the road and, i believe, their only road loss came in g5 of the scf.
if im right on something, that makes them the only club in nhl history to start 3-0 in *every* round
edit: 3-0 in a 3 round format
@Mike Schwab they weren't last, they were 8th
Amazing video & love your voice
Comparing Brett Hull to Kessel is sacrilege. One is one of the greatest goal scorers in history and one of 5 players to ever score 50 goals in the first 50 games of the season and the other looks like an alcoholic stepdad.
Buffalo fan here just to say - Eichel deserves to be on this list
Alyssa, you are wonderful, and you should be named Captain. BTW, I was a Captain in the Army Reserve.
25 years later the hatred for Mike Keenan in St. Louis is remarkable. Don't even mention his name if you're in town and hanging out with hockey fans.
Terrible coach
how is he? i didnt really follow the nhl till 2018
@@gordanblansky7137
LOL he won a Stanley Cup dumbass.
1:03 brown and Avery lol
Pacioretty is another captain that was stripped. By being traded to Vegas because he would cry after every loss and say he doesnt know how to be a captain when he's not producing. He showed exactly how not to be a captain. Love him just not captain material.
Keenan sounds like a great guy
Seems like the chronology was off on Brown. The LA Kings lost in the conference finals between Stanley Cup wins. They lost in the first round before the first championship. They missed the playoffs after the second.
Modano should've never been captain. They just thought it was the thing to do. He was an amazing player, no doubt, but he lacked the grit to be a truly effective captain. Morrow was a much better choice. As far as captaincy goes, MiniMo > MightyMo any day of the week. Jamie was a great choice as well.
Amazing video Alyssa keep up the great work
The kings didn't make the conference finals any time before they won the Cup in 2012 since 1993.
I like your videos
I think a major one that comes to mind was Mike Keenan stripping Trevor Linden of his C in Vancouver.
Sean Curry That still pisses me off, Fuck Messier
@@ignitefifahd8017 I think it still pisses us all off to this day!
He was traded to Montreal.
Weston Badke Not until halfway through the season, and he was traded to the islanders, not Montreal
I agree Brown deserves respect. He was the leader for the Cup winning Kings. But Kopitar seemed like a more logical fit for captain, being the franchise player.
Brown leads like a captain kopitar is an incredible player not an incredible leader
@@indianajones5037 Being a great player doesn't make you a great leader, I agree. But I thought Kopitar was also the latter. Him or Drew Doughty.
@@broadstreet21 I just always felt Brown earned that C and should Captain the team until he leaves or retires. He’s the only Cup champion captain. Kings really messed up. Especially leaking it to the media prior. Brown turned la into a franchise that players wanted to come to. He set the standard so high
@@indianajones5037 Well okay, there's no question he was a great leader and failing to keep up his scoring takes nothing away from that.
I think the Sharks management dropped the ball. Pat should have stayed the captain, period. Maybe they would have won a cup? Who knows...
Kings lost in the first round in 2010 and 2011 before winning the Cup in 2012. They lost in the Conference Finals in 2013 before winning the Cup again in 2014.
Modano should have been captain of the Stars the whole time he was with the Franchise (MIN and DAL). Hatcher and Morrow can piss off.
I met Brendan morrow and mike madonno in the same day once, mikes a great guy and morrow is quiet and seemed pissed anyone cane up to him
Who's mike madonno?
Far as Marleau, it's simple as this, the Sharks always underperformed in the playoffs. They neededa new leader.
How about Brian Leetch in New York? Theoren Fleury in Calgary?
Theo didn't want to be captain.
I love ur vids just pls get a better microphone
lisa Pecora it’s not even bad
It’s good SMH
Get a better speaker or headphones or earphones!
From a Stars fans perspective, Modano was a great player, but never really a good captain. Morrow played harder than anyone else, and he was vocal and well-loved by the team and fans. We do have a history of big physical captains though, hatcher, morrow, benn.
dont worry my left ear is informed
I always remember Brown as kings captain but not kimopitar lol
At the time the Kings needed a change, and Brown himself needed a change, but to this day he's the true captain.
Kimopitar??
@@OTBK.. kopitar I just cant type
SUOMI!
@@leeviahvenjarvi372
Or spell. ...
You showed zetterberg but he was never stripped of his captaincy. Whats the deal?
Marleau also had an iron man streak.
As a Canucks fan, Trevor Linden having his C stripped for Messier while we slept as the Canucks were in Japan was classless. We all know how that turned out.
In regards to these players, it's weird...Marleau is a great leader in mentoring young kids in the league, he's legendary for that. However for traditional captaincy, not really.
You can thank Mike Keenan that.
Keenan also screwed Grant Ledyard by telling the players he quit the team when Ledyard himself asked Keenan for time away to be with his wife going through cancer treatment back in Texas.
That's a classless move by Canucks management.
Yes
Can also add eric lindros
Brett Hull is one of the best players of all time. Phil Kessel isn’t even on the same planet. Other than that - solid video!
I just meant playing style, not production based.
But thank you!
Alyssa Hope that makes a lot more sense then 😊
*Vladimir Tarasenko 👍 this video*
Hey RUclips have blocked your membership, find out what they are playing at.
Go kings go🏒👑
You forgot Derek McKenzie losing his C to Alexander Barkov
Hi
All i can say as a MN native is thank god Koivu is gone and that Parise didnt get the "C." Parise should be on her "diva" list.
Its unreal that the sharks have no cups
JoeShit TheRagMan Tell me about it...it puzzles me as a Sharks fan. Just don’t have enough heart or will to want to win the cup.
Brown will go down as the 1st American captain to win a cup but also the most forgettable captain to EVER win a cup.
Idiot
maybe you just have a bad memory 👀
Hey hey didn’t talk about Crosby what’s up with that
What?
Brown lost his captaincy shortly after the majority of his team including himself locked and barricaded their coach out of the dressing room during a losing streak and cleaned up and left the building so they wouldn't have to deal with the upset coach
Seems like every video Alyssa makes is just wrong.
Modano is the best American player ever. Not captain material, though.
Kane’s better
15th
Love it
Joe
Boom
I just want my Rangers to name a captain
Who do you think will get it?
Zibanejad should absolutely get it
I bet he will let’s go pens 🐧🐧🐧

imo you make your franchise look like a JOKE if you give a free agent signing the C
LETS GO PENGUINS
Get rid of the music!
Moral of the story if you play for the sharks you’ll probably get the C or an A sometime soon.
Doug Wilson is a joke.
why is Logan Couture a captain?
Why do you think?
Being a captain means you’re the highest paid player on a team.
The LA Kings are the reason are so boring when they won the Cup . Yawn
wrong! Kings did not make the... oh , hell forget about it woman, smh.
Alyssa hope won’t pin this comment let’s go pens
I wouldn’t say you’re stupid, however, you should do get factual information to describe through your videos rather than biased information.
Fucking learn to pronounce the names correctly
