Thanks for this vid. I made this tonight and for those of you that want a bit more sauce, go ahead. The pizza crust will absorb some of the sauce during the cooking process. It's not a dry pizza even with the amount used in the video. It's easy and much better than one of those bake at home pizzas!

i cook my pizzas using cast iron all the time, always come out great....... 1 tip is the best way to get the dough in the pan when is ripping hot is to fold the dough in half right before transferring to the pan. You wan to create a half moon shape essentially, place the dough in the pan with the rounded edge up against the skillet side and then unfold for full coverage on the pan. much easier than what Claire kinda fumbled around with and also much less of a chance of burning yourself on a 500 degree skillet.

I find that cast iron pizzas can take a lot of sauce, so I like to really lay it on and even up to the crust. You can also use a lot of toppings because of how sturdy the pizza turns out.

I made this for dinner last night, and it was delicious. A tip if you're not planning on using the toppings in the video: put a bunch of olive oil and garlic salt in the cast iron and let it heat up as your fat source instead of the sausage leftovers.
It's to go with salad as well.. plus there's half a pound of sausage the dough which is about 1/2 a pound and other toppings plus the salad which is plenty. She's going by serving size, not about how much you can eat but what's recommended.

We call it Pandemic Pizza (in a good way), because I started making it when we were craving pizza and the two pizzas we ordered in were bad. This is now the pizza we have every weekend! Finally made this last night. The store-bought dough I had on hand fought being stretched, but I finally got it to the minimum size for my 12" skillet. The directions in this video were excellent. Turned out great, and I'm told it's a must-repeat recipe. FWIW used queso quesadilla cheese, sweet Italian sausage, and sliced scallions in addition to name-brand five-cheese sauce. It took a full 16 minutes in my oven to reach the desired degree of doneness.

Looks pretty close but not quite burnt.
I thought the same thing. She even looked at the bottom after cutting the slice. Some of those edges are pretty dark.

It clearly isn't burnt... Just a lovely golden black in a few spots... (Which really isn't a bad thing on a pizza, within reason.)

You Do you, guys... But I always feel that fennel overpowers pretty much every thing Else... Fennel seed is fine, but i put fennel in with a bunch of roast veg (potaotes, Bell pepper, stuff like that) and every thing will Taste like fennel.... Or is it just me?
Maybe you put too much fennel in there. It's like rosemary and thyme too. A little hint is fine but too much of it tastes like medicine.
Salsiccia is strong enough in flavor to balance the fennel

Thanks Claire!!! Delicious!!! We're vegetarians, so we use Morning Star veggie sausage. We call it Pandemic Pizza (in a good way), because I started making it when we were craving pizza and the two pizzas we ordered in were bad. This is now the pizza we have every weekend! Cast iron skillet is HEAVY, but makes amazing pizza!!

I wasn't previously aware of how much hate there was for Hawaiian pizza. I mean the sweetness of the honey is like the sweetness of pineapple. Ham could be swapped for anything imo. I love grilling pineapple. Mmmm.

Pineapple has a tang to its taste and is extremely strong; it could ruin the balance of the pizza. Honey is smooth and not overbearing. I don't mind Hawaiian, but I have a great preference of pizza without pineapple.

Finally made this last night. The store-bought dough I had on hand fought being stretched, but I finally got it to the minimum size for my 12" skillet. The directions in this video were excellent. Turned out great, and I'm told it's a must-repeat recipe. FWIW used queso quesadilla cheese, sweet Italian sausage, and sliced scallions in addition to name-brand five-cheese sauce. It took a full 16 minutes in my oven to reach the desired degree of doneness.
