I just realized the idea that bad things happen to bad people is somehow ingrained in me. When something terrible happens, I say, "God, what did I do to deserve this?" Micheal has opened my eyes. I'm not religious at all, but I take my kids to church, believing it will help them in life.
Karma doesn't work that way, just like going to church, doesn't actually guide your soul. The bad things happen to those who can't see the benefit of struggle; the good to those that follow God's motivation in their heart, always seeing a blessing.
As someone who, unfortunately, genuinely really enjoys Swift's music, but also understands the deep corruption of her philosophies, I cannot express enough how much I LOVE these episodes. They are funny, entertaining, and quite a wonderful and deep reflection on personal views and faith.
Same. Some of her music is really good but I know the deep corruption going on too and it bothers me which is probably why I love these episodes too. They’re so funny and true and it’s hard to find people who will be this honest about her from this good perspective he has.
She’s a really beautiful lady, and probably the prettiest singer out there today, that’s why it’s so sad to see how far left she went. And being on the left is what’s making her overly emotional at times.
I can see how celebrities and people who haven't gone through terrible suffering can end up actually believing all that. The problem is when regular people start believing it too.
I still believe it, although I fight not to. I was an addict but have been clean 12 years. When something terrible happens, I feel like it's God or karma punishing me for those terrible choices and the people I hurt along the way.
@@charleneblack2792 I do think consequences are different than karma. Driving drunk will often have a terrible outcome, for example. But that’s different from the idea of karma which says that you’d get punished like years later because you drove drunk years before. I don’t believe in that. Bad stuff happens and sometimes we’ve directly caused it but other times it just happens. There’s not a cosmic karma scale though. Bad things are a result of living in a fallen world, not necessarily a result of something you did wrong earlier in your life.

@@desertrose0601 Yes, but if someone does drugs in their youth years later, they could have health problems, so things that we do in our past can in the future come back to bite us in the behind.
Dear Michael, I am a Christian living in SEA where Karma is the primary culture. Thank you for doing this. You understand Karma more than many who said believe in it. And yes, you're right. We have to cooperate with our free will to God's grace. Bad things happen to good people, but if it turns out to be suffering with Christ. Bad things can give more meaning to life than mere pleasure. Bless you.
Hey Michael, I know this is primarily a light-hearted commentary on pop culture, but the section on the book of Job was really well done, both from your efforts and those of your editors. It is content like this, Christian teaching in a modern context, that separates your work from the pack. Please keep it up!
It is so refreshing to see a Catholic Christian man such as Michael speak out against things like this. Thank you so much for spreading God’s grace, Michael!
He doesn't do you folks any favors. To anyone not already brain washed he comes off as a complete loon w inauthentic, ludicrous, unserious arguments. A troll who says stupid stuff to just to be shocking. Anyone who's slightly moderate or not conservative Christian is highly turned off with this BS.
No such thing as a Catholic Christian. Only believing, repenting, trusting, and praying to ONE Lord Jesus Christ makes you a Christian. You're not a Christian if you believe that praying to Mary and saints is right when it's not remotely mentioned in the Bible. Pray for Catholics to see the truth.
I used to admire Taylor Swift because she claimed to be a Christian. The more she talks and sings, the more I see she doesn’t have a clue about the Bible.
The only time I ever heard her claim to be a Christian was when she was crying about lgbt equity laws in TN not getting passed that would have discriminated against Christians. That was around the same time she put out "You Need To Calm Down" with a video depicting Christians as right wing b*gots. So no. She makes some good music. But her worldview is horrible and she's a very broken person.
yeah, most people who criticise it have never read it, or they had no idea what the meaning is; ancient knowledge is difficult to comprehend so it's easier to bash it.
My mother was the best person I knew. She had terrible things happen to her her whole life. She had a terrible childhood. Her first baby died. She had one health problem after another. She could never catch a break. Then she was hospitalized and got cancer. And lost her ability to walk. And had to have a tube stuck in her throat. And then she suddenly went into septic shock and died at only 50. Yeah, if Karma was real, she would be alive and well. Meanwhile a ton of terrible people I know are alive and doing just fine. It’s important to be a good person. But that does not keep bad things from happening to you
Now as a man is like this or like that, according as he acts and according as he behaves, so will he be; a man of good acts will become good, a man of bad acts, bad; he becomes pure by pure deeds, bad by bad deeds. And here they say that a person consists of desires, and as is his desire, so is his will; and as is his will, so is his deed; and whatever deed he does, that he will reap.

That’s called spiritual warfare. The devil is corrupting worldly music to make people turn away from Jesus. Even if the lyrics make no sense people get addicted to the sound of it.
Even As a “Swiftie” he really make a very good point. Also, the scene where she has the mask and it depicts a “hell like scene” she’s not saying it(hell) is good or fine or she supports it, she’s representing her past record label who did bad things to her. I Don’t believe in karma. But just to tell y’all she’s just saying that her past record label isn’t letting her own her own music. That’s why she’s depicting them as bad(I don’t like this song anyway so 😀) I love your biblical references! Keep doing what your doing at daily wire doing at daily wire!!
Karma, the concept is from India. It's pronounced as Karm authentically. It just means do good and receive good, the world is a mirror. I have only seen Christians get scarred and shaken by seeing depictions of hell and devil. In other cultures they are often openly protrayed to depict what is evil. It's not that deep actually..
Michael thank you for making me laugh. As a father of three young children trying to raise them for Christ I sometimes get discouraged with all this garbage in the culture. It’s good to laugh and be reminded that Jesus is in control. As a protestant I’ve really been growing in appreciation for some of my Catholic brothers and sisters doing a great job of holding the line. Keep speaking truth and about The Truth. Um, …”raise them FOR christ…” has a bit of a sacrificial demonic sound to it. But God’s cool, except he did sacrifice his kid so are u sure u want to trust him with your kids because in any other context this would be considered a red flag.
Omg same. Karma is my favorite Taylor Swift song 😭. I personally don’t take songs like this too literally so I don’t really see a problem with them. (Except for Call Me By Your Name and Unholy)
Doesn’t matter how you perceive it, truth is truth, evil is evil, you can even just like it for the beat, but literally the devil also works in undertones. It’s not something to take lightly, Lucifer was the angel of music, it’s no coincidence that the music industry is corrupted by evil. What you feed your soul is important, and you taint your faith and hinder your connection with God, when you allow for these kinds of influences to be in your life. Luke warm believers, dance with the devil everyday and if not aware of the deception, fall from God. Be careful. I pray for anyone who may not see the reality nor take it serious, because it’s a scary cell to keep yourself in. I say this with love, God bless you.

If you know as much as (nearly) nothing about an artist (or any other person) and/or are not able to distinguish between art and agitation, you shouldn't comment, specially disparage their work, skills or character! Taylor only uses mystic-effects for artistic impressions (sometimes, as here, also "easter eggs") and never claimed, that being "punished" by fate/god is a sign of own badness! What she does in "Karma" is to condemn the dark/devil and appell to people to be good for getting "good karma" - nothing more than (christian!) parents do, when they admonish their children not to do bad, but good things for "going to heaven"..! If you nevertheless practice this kind of (negative) "voting/rating", you act like an arrogant narcissist. And when you - as here and elsewhere - furthermore (ab)use the name, specially fame of this person to promote your cosmetic products, you doesn't show the best character. So I have to confirm, what already the old Romans said: "Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses!".
Taylor is a Disney creation. It is ALL a Facade. The current incarnation is a more realistic image of who she is and of what Disney wants you to worship.
Cant stand her views on politics, but she is very talented. That being said I would annihilate that woman. She is gorgeous to me especially since shes gained a bit of weight and started looking more womanly.
I think that many people in the entertainment industry start out as good people, but they are quickly turned toward evil… whether or not she started out good or not we cannot know. One thing is for sure, she’s not heading in the right direction, and she may or may not realize this….remember “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
It’s about scooter Braun selling her masters for 300 million dollars. Hence the lyric “my Pennie’s make your crown.” Not sure why she added ice spice though
I find it comical how intensely you’re looking into this. Taylor got screwed out of getting her masters hence the re-recording process she’s doing. She also has been done wrong by past boyfriends and friends. She’s just saying I’ve been done wrong by these people but I’ve got a great boyfriend (at the time), I’ve got awesome cats, and the breeze in my hair makes me happy. It’s just the thought of I’ve been through some crappy stuff in life but it’s better now and for those people that screwed me they seem to be getting theirs now. Also, the beginning when she’s dressed in the devil outfit the lyric says “you’re terrified to look down”. The scene is just a play on those words. Do you seriously only listen to Christian music bc tons of genres of music have references that aren’t necessarily Christian
I completely agree. People say “oh Taylor, stop getting into fights, it’s getting old, etc…” But in the music industry when your super famous, people will start back stabbing you, and when you are one of the top people in the music industry like Taylor, yeah… no shock all this is happening to her, people want to share or steal that fame.
THIS!! Not everything is meant to be taken super literally, and a lot of this song is metaphorical. I really wish people would do more research on things like this to get the whole story and not just judge on what they see.

karma feels like the deification of an otherwise sound idea. there’s some merit to the notion that if you put good out into the world, it tends to be returned and vice versa-ie if you tell somebody in traffic to go fuck themselves, there’s a good chance they’ll return that hostility
I see ur point...but Karma is an Indian philosophy stemming back to the theory of rebirth,ie, if u did good deeds in ur past life, ull be born again in a better life...now the term has undergone westernisation and has resulted in an almost Newtons third law-every action has an equal and opposite reaction...but truth is life is not like that...there are plenty of bad people living peaceful lives, while many good people struggle to find ends meet...hence the term becomes a mockery of the society in reality...good deeds should not be done while expecting good to happen to you...TS doesnt actually have a good karma, owing to her mean streak...whatever success she has now is ofc a lot due to her hardwork, marketing etc but it is definitely NOT becos shes a good person with a great karma...😅People saying otherwise prove to be immature and naive😊
As someone who listens to metal music, it is very funny how pop shifted into the "it makes you worship Satan" lane everyone said metal did. Sure there will be that in all genres, but the fact it's in a happy glittery package on the main stream radio that parents will let the youngest of kids listen to because it's "just Taylor swift" is arguably worse for society, than if it just stayed on the fringes.
Pop music, and really most modern music in general, is less "it makes your worship Satan" and more "it espouses ideals that lead away from God". A distinctly different but still very dangerous thing.
Yup! On the surface Oh, Sleeper appears dark and evil but the writer of the songs is actually a Christian and does amazing story telling with his music. It’s absolutely inspiring. But then the “happy” stuff has like… absolutely terrible messages lol
The difference is metal bands never pretended to be a saint... But pop more and more aims to present itself as the wolf in sheep clothing... Leading 'sheep' to slaughter!
Yeah guys music is not objective, it can scientifically determined which art is inferior and which art is superior: there not all equal. For example: appreciation and enjoyment of instrumental music is a sign of intelligence. That’s how I know people nowadays are stupid: it’s because of the music they listen to (at the same time it is hard to listen and get to know new, different music on your own. I would t know like half the bands I do if it weren’t for my father, the ugly guy in the profile picture, that’s not me 😂)
My mother believed bad things happened to bad people only, and she ended up in prison. Karma is very convenient for people not taking responsibility. Ive never heard someone say "I shouldn't have done that bad thing bc karma", they chose the good parts... that show then as magnanimous. Lame
It’s always a mess when people adopt karma mentality Sure you definitely get consequences for making bad choices. But good people go through tough times too.
Y’all are looking to much into it. That scene that is quote n’ quote “evil” stands for reputation and isn’t anything evil. Taylor swift is literally Christian, please do your research before you make a dumb video.
i live in a traditionally Buddhist country and it's interesting to contrast how the term karma has traditionally been used here. it's actually not used to indicate that you are a bad person if bad things happen to u. rather, it's the opposite. i think it's bcos often it is used along with the belief of reincarnation. so if something bad (or good) happens to u, it is (at least partly) bcos of 'ur' past karma. but the 'u' in the past life is not 'u' that is here. there's no permanent 'u' (that is the idea of anathma or non self). 'u' is just a continuous flux. anyway, it is sort of used as a way of alleviating guilt or remorse for facing unfortunate circumstances, as something beyond the control of a self (in fact, self too is a mind made construct), exactly opposite to how Michael describes here. Same way, if something fortunate happens to you, it's not 'u' did it but (at least partly) a result of ur past karma, so the idea is to be humble about it. what i want to stress is, it is used not to highlight or bolster the self or the ego, but to dilute the notion of self. anyway, I think when these ideas cross cultures and is absorbed by the west, may be their meanings get warped.

i'm one of the biggest swifties you'll ever meet. i LOVE her music and i love her and i think she's so smart and talented and truly the best songwriter of this generation. that being said, it makes me sad to see how far she's come in this area of her life. she's stated in the past that she's a Christian, but her actions say the opposite. at the very least, i think she's fallen far from true Christian values and it'll take a massive Paul moment for her to come back to Jesus. this song is a bop, but i'm always thinking in the back of my mind "this song isn't morally good and it's a testament to Taylor's righteousness." :(
As a former swiftie, I didn’t want to see the signs. But think about the things and themes you’re singing in her songs. Saying karma is a god, like Jesus, is such blasphemy and really just sickens me. I would listen to midnights and just skip this song because I was like “it’s just a song” but no, you’re really just signing word curses over yourself and music can have such a hold. Her songs sing of unforgiveness, adultery, sexual immorality, revenge, blasphemy, etc. Read James 3. There is power in the tongue, to speak life and death. Is what you’re singing honoring and glorifying God? Think about it. And remember, this is coming from a former swiftie too. I ADORED her and her music. But now, I can’t stand it. Michael Knowles, consider the target audience. Superficial, short memories, in the moment living, the worship of beauty and the power popularity brings with it. Ask Madonna hows that working for her. She was for a few decades the "Material" girl. Madonna sat high on the same throne that Taylor Swift is sitting on now. However, time catches up with everyone. Madonna's music is rarely played except on oldies radio channels. Taylor Swift still has many years to go, but she too will be forgotten along with her music. And as for the meaning of her music, her fans don't care.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but to generalize all of her fans is not something that makes for a good argument. A lot of her songs are thoughtfully written. There is even a song about her grandfather who fought in World War II. It is called Epiphany if you are interested in giving it a listen. I personally care a lot about the meaning of what I listen to, which is why I am not the biggest fan of this song.
i think youre getting this wrong, the word karma itself arises mainly from buddhism and sanskrit and everyone in this comment section is literally fighting over how this is about devil worship and evil rituals but its not. karma is a force that exists universally, both good and bad, karma as (most westerners believe) is not only about the fact that being a bad person makes you bad, but a mix of both. you do a good thing, it returns back to you in a way or sort that helps you, if you do a bad thing, then it also comes round back to you in a form. its not about which one outweighs which one but both no matter how small a deed bad or good youve committed will come back to you. here in taylors song karma, she doesnt necessarily say she has done only good things, ONLY that she even implies by the lines 'i keep my side of the street clean' she used be around people who made her do bad things and has accumulated bad karma, and perhaps it may come back to her, but in the present, in the now, she has learned how to overcome that, and she most does good merits, thus listing how her hard work and her giving nature has returned back to her in the various fruitful forms, a boyfriend, cat, the breeze in the hair on the weekends. its wonderfuk because this shows that she is thankful for the simplest things in life, and no matter how big a good merit you have committed, being thankful that the good karma has returned back you in the simplest form is such a good achievement. idk what steroids the comments section is taking, but metaphor does take a big role in the song. putting on the devil mask doesmt mean shes one you clowns, shes saying she was thrown into the pit as an evil, in the 2014 and 2015's everyone predicted taylors downfalls and called her a snake, imagine that, the whole of the internet against you. and in those times she had said nothing back to them. see the concept of karma playing into this? now that she has known about karma, she realizes how good karma she had accumulated by not doing anything bad against all those people, who those people inturn had accumulated bad karma themselves by degrading a person, shes simply reminding them of their actions, even more so how they could also learn about doing more good than bad. yall half assing the replies even with the internet omg i swear to god
To me, the biggest problem is not the lyrics in this song or any song, it's the fact that our youth is so engrained in social media and not ingrained in religion. Social media has overtaken everything. You could listen to anything and if you're grounded it won't matter. It's the grounding that's the problem.... And that's what makes these artists perform these sort of things because they know that. So it goes around and around.
Honestly, I’d be interesting to see Michael react to literally metal song or album. Personally, something like Sabaton or Avenged Sevenfold would be cool.
Feels like he's the sort of person who'd just call it satanic and demonic for political reasons even though it's harmless, good music that most people like.
Thought Michael was going to say you can't unsee that squinty has squinty eyes. Listen to Johnny Cash 'God's Gonna Cut You Down', if you want to hear about divine retribution. Swift's song is egocentric and godless elevator muzac.
Karma isn't about Taylor's salvation. It is about her moving on in life from a dark time, when certain people tried to destroy her career. Karma for her is the simple things, being loved and loving life...She isn't being literally spiritual.
Karma is a concept of Hinduism which describes a system in which beneficial effects are derived from past beneficial beauty and harmful effects from past harmful actions, creating a system of actions and reactions throughout a soul's (jivatman's) reincarnated lives,[1] forming a cycle of rebirth. The causality is said to apply not only to the material world but also to our thoughts, words, actions, and actions that others do under our instructions.
.. or in the modern sense it just means “do unto others what you would like have done to you”. Karma isn’t some exclusive virtue to Hinduism. Every society has acknowledged its existence one way or another
Michael, your assessment of pop music is dead on and I'm so glad you speak your truth out loud. You make those of us that tend to listen to music without actually processing the lyrics can be life changing..
Thank you for the reminder of God's goodness, Knowles. I'm going through a miscarriage rn and it's hard to remember that bad things can just happen and God is not karma
@@anacc3257 HUGE difference. Karma is the belief of self. if YOU do good things then YOU will make good things happen. I can’t stand this song, but I love most of taylor swifts music. That's why I've disliked her music since Reputation. Sure, themes of "my exes and ex-friends are the bad guys," "this is just how I am," and "look at all those people judging me" were present in her song lyrics before, but back around Speak Now, it was more like teen and young adult angst, where she's too ignorant to know better. Now she has no excuse.
Thank you for opening eyes. I was ignorant and easily swayed by culture for many, many years, but it took logic from the Daily wire to change my view of the world. Thank you.
I agree that the concepts in this song aren’t purely righteous. What bothers me is when there’s any sign of demonic symbolism people freak out and say the music is demonic. I think the imagery is supposed to be alluding to a larger point she’s making about people who have wronged her. It’s not the same as the imagery in the lil nas x video. The concept of karma is definitely not biblical or righteous though. I appreciate a critique based on lyrical content instead of the 1 scene with demons in the video.

Poverty worldwide is mostly due to Karma. Why help a poor person, sick person etc. because they’re paying for their prior life. Let them suffer and their next life will be great 👍🏻 Thanks you Michael for bringing this to my attention. Yes, pop music is going down the drain for sure!
Michael, I so appreciate your breakdown of this video and all your other music videos! And I love how you bring it to the forefront how it’s not works that brings salvation but by faith in Jesus Christ by grace alone and how karma is a completely man-made nonsensical idea! Well done 👍🏻
Without Michael I would never get exposure to any of these artists. And it’s best that way. They changed the frequency in music decades ago and listening to these creations once is more than enough.
uh, but Michael is unaware of why some of this imagery is in here because he doesn't understand the fued Taylor has had with her record label and the kardashians/Ye. even him putting Beiber's name as the same sentence as Taylor shows how little he understands.
@@brunetteXerI couldn’t agree more. People are saying how satanic this imagery is, but if they even did any research, on her, or just listened some more of her songs, they would see how wrong THEY are not T-swizzle. @NWR-Productions what about people who just don't agree with the lyrics? Honestly, the video itself doesn't bother me it's the lyrics that do. I like some of Taylor s songs. I don't like Taylor. I think she's fake (though I will add I dislike the Kardashians even more). I don't like this song because I do not at all agree with the lyrics or the message she's promoting in those lyrics. I love her song Anti Hero and Don't Blame Me and a few others. I usually base my opinions on the lyrics. Not even whether I like the artist or not. Just the lyrics.
Karma is not a Christian concept perse, (although "final day judgement" is similar)Karma is not Christian, but it's very appealing to many of us, and she is still relying upon a divine force to wreak retribution.
The problem with the idea of karma is that everyone has a different idea of what “good” or “bad” is. Taylor Swift would probably think I am a “bad” person because I don’t support homosexuality and abortion, but I think she is bad because she does…
that´s why without God doesn´t exist justice. you see how leftists define democracy, freedom , genocide, torture, censorship.... man never can define what´s right or wrong. we need God,
Funny how he calls a Ziggurat cult imagery when the same can be said for a Church or a Mosque. Isn't manifestation the same as praying or am I making too much sense. Also Karma is about understanding that if you do good then nothing can be held against you and those who don't will eventually get caught out. The song is about the guys who stole her music, kim and kanye and just the fact that so many people inside the music industry wanted her to fail.
I may be biased as a fan of hers but this is really reading into it 😂 it’s a pop song saying people who were awful to other people get what they deserve…it’s not that serious

I used to admire Taylor Swift because she claimed to be a Christian. The more she talks and sings, the more I see she doesn’t have a clue about the Bible.
She really does not have a clue about the Bible, I feel that too
She has no clue about what it means to be a Christian. The proof is in the fruit of the spirit. If that is not there, Jesus is not in your heart.

Oh how far Taylor has fallen from the wholesome girl she once was
You mean how duped you were for buying into her wholesome girl act.

I think that many people in the entertainment industry start out as good people, but they are quickly turned toward evil… whether or not she started out good or not we cannot know.
People say “oh Taylor, stop getting into fights, it’s getting old, etc…”
But in the music industry when your super famous, people will start back stabbing you, and when you are one of the top people in the music industry like Taylor, yeah… no shock all this is happening to her, people want to share or steal that fame.

Except karma doesn't work like that
I see ur point...but Karma is an Indian philosophy stemming back to the theory of rebirth,ie, if u did good deeds in ur past life, ull be born again in a better life...now the term has undergone westernisation and has resulted in an almost Newtons third law-every action has an equal and opposite reaction...but truth is life is not like that...there are plenty of bad people living peaceful lives, while many good people struggle to find ends meet...hence the term becomes a mockery of the society in reality...good deeds should not be done while expecting good to happen to you...TS doesnt actually have a good karma, owing to her mean streak...whatever success she has now is ofc a lot due to her hardwork, marketing etc but it is definitely NOT becos shes a good person with a great karma...😅People saying otherwise prove to be immature and naive😊

Pop music, and really most modern music in general, is less "it makes your worship Satan" and more "it espouses ideals that lead away from God". A distinctly different but still very dangerous thing.

She was raised a Christian, so I hope she gets things right.
i live in a traditionally Buddhist country and it's interesting to contrast how the term karma has traditionally been used here. it's actually not used to indicate that you are a bad person if bad things happen to u. rather, it's the opposite. i think it's bcos often it is used along with the belief of reincarnation. so if something bad (or good) happens to u, it is (at least partly) bcos of 'ur' past karma. but the 'u' in the past life is not 'u' that is here. there's no permanent 'u' (that is the idea of anathma or non self). 'u' is just a continuous flux. anyway, it is sort of used as a way of alleviating guilt or remorse for facing unfortunate circumstances, as something beyond the control of a self (in fact, self too is a mind made construct), exactly opposite to how Michael describes here. Same way, if something fortunate happens to you, it's not 'u' did it but (at least partly) a result of ur past karma, so the idea is to be humble about it. what i want to stress is, it is used not to highlight or bolster the self or the ego, but to dilute the notion of self. anyway, I think when these ideas cross cultures and is absorbed by the west, may be their meanings get warped.

stop idolizing her. She’s obviously a satanist
She left Christianity a VERY LONG LONG TIME AGO!! I know because I didn't want to see it either!! She is going to fall !!
Just sharing my perspective and conviction on this topic and I pray God opens your heart to His Will and His Light and His Truth on things like that. I love you friend, God bless you and keep you. Amen.
@@oliviawolf3679 I am right there with you!! I was the same myself! But I stopped listening to her music after her album 1984. Something about her was changing from Christian value vibes and started vibing towards the sinful values of the world.
It’s very sad. Taylor Swift loves this world more than Jesus. The sad part is, once she dies she will lose all her wealth. She stored up riches in the wrong place. If she put her faith in Jesus and lived for Him, she would be 10x more richer in Heaven
Good coverage my brotha.
Man how did I know it was gonna be demonic with Taylor swift and just bad because of ice spice
I don’t think it’s demonic but I see your point with the consept of Karma and to me it’s a fun song and as a conservative and swiftie I can see why people might get an idea about it being demonic. But honestly Taylor’s music has matured and grown up along with her.

why do people always get so offended for everything? And Christians trying to put the Bible into the speech when the main topic is karma that is a concept not even part of our religion?? (i'm Christian too). Guys stop trying to make EVERYTHING so hateful. Just listen to the music you like and enjoy life to its fullest! Time spent hating is wasted time.
exactly!! the karma is a concept from buddhism, and it is a concept that is quite universal. nothing of this concept goes against other religion. this comment section makes me laugh honestly, people are so ignorant.
Basically the song is talking about famous people in the industry who got famous by witchcraft wich includes selling souls and sacrificing them to the devil and burning people and children alive in rituals so that they get to the top
Why I am a classical musician in a nutshell:
i think youre getting this wrong, the word karma itself arises mainly from buddhism and sanskrit and everyone in this comment section is literally fighting over how this is about devil worship and evil rituals but its not. karma is a force that exists universally, both good and bad, karma as (most westerners believe) is not only about the fact that being a bad person makes you bad, but a mix of both. you do a good thing, it returns back to you in a way or sort that helps you, if you do a bad thing, then it also comes round back to you in a form. its not about which one outweighs which one but both no matter how small a deed bad or good youve committed will come back to you. here in taylors song karma, she doesnt necessarily say she has done only good things, ONLY that she even implies by the lines 'i keep my side of the street clean' she used be around people who made her do bad things and has accumulated bad karma, and perhaps it may come back to her, but in the present, in the now, she has learned how to overcome that, and she most does good merits, thus listing how her hard work and her giving nature has returned back to her in the various fruitful forms, a boyfriend, cat, the breeze in the hair on the weekends. its wonderfuk because this shows that she is thankful for the simplest things in life, and no matter how big a good merit you have committed, being thankful that the good karma has returned back you in the simplest form is such a good achievement. idk what steroids the comments section is taking, but metaphor does take a big role in the song. putting on the devil mask doesmt mean shes one you clowns, shes saying she was thrown into the pit as an evil, in the 2014 and 2015's everyone predicted taylors downfalls and called her a snake, imagine that, the whole of the internet against you. and in those times she had said nothing back to them. see the concept of karma playing into this? now that she has known about karma, she realizes how good karma she had accumulated by not doing anything bad against all those people, who those people inturn had accumulated bad karma themselves by degrading a person, shes simply reminding them of their actions, even more so how they could also learn about doing more good than bad. yall half assing the replies even with the internet omg i swear to god
😂
Honestly, I’d be interesting to see Michael react to literally metal song or album. Personally, something like Sabaton or Avenged Sevenfold would be cool.
SABATON. THIS.

Every society has acknowledged its existence one way or another
Karma doesn’t exist. Only God’s justice exists.
I am a hardcore sabaton fan to be honest.
Sabaton lyrics are actually good though.

Michael, your assessment of pop music is dead on and I'm so glad you speak your truth out loud. You make those of us that tend to listen to music without actually processing the lyrics can be life changing..

I don't believe in karma, but i believe in Justice. And these people will face it whether in this life or the next.
There’s judgment after death by God, only way to have eternal life past death is your free will to make Jesus Christ your Lord before you die.
In the context of how both of those words often are used, the difference is minimal.
@@anacc3257 There's a massive difference. Michael points out what karma is in the video.
@@anacc3257 HUGE difference. Karma is the belief of self. if YOU do good things then YOU will make good things happen. Believing that God will separate Good from Evil after death is surrendering yourself to a higher authority. That if YOU do Good then GOD will judge accordingly. These are completely different ideologies.
Nobody cares snowflake
645,000,000 Indians in 2005 were in poverty. That’s a lot of bad karma. Not a religious system I’d want to do a music video about.
I can’t stand this song, but I love most of taylor swifts music. I think when she isn’t trying to be a pop star, and when she is writing folk music, you would be surprised how good of a writer she can be. I would recommend any song from the album folklore next, the contrast between this song and folklore is crazy

Taylor thinks she’s done nothing wrong ever
That's why I've disliked her music since Reputation. Sure, themes of "my exes and ex-friends are the bad guys," "this is just how I am," and "look at all those people judging me" were present in her song lyrics before, but back around Speak Now, it was more like teen and young adult angst, where she's too ignorant to know better. Now she has no excuse.
that's incorrect. She talks about her mistakes, she talks about her flaws.
Taylor had kinda gone off the deep end, it’s tragic
Way past kind of.....
I'm so grateful I grew up in the 60s and 70s. The music today is evil. I can't listen to the hate or the fake sounds of the algorithms used the last 25-30 years. I'll stick with my BANDS, and writing by actually literate performers. I don't want to hear thought provoking lyrics.
The music of the 60s and 70s caused this. The blame is entirely on that.

@@fredrickmaverick4831 sure, i'm aware of these things, but you think Taylor is? nothing about her music is leading people to satan, unlike many other artists today who celebrate debauchery.

My entire opinion of Taylor Swift changed when I watched "Miss Americana" where she gave her parents her whiney excuse to her parents why she's being "tolerant and inclusive" let's say. I thought, girlfriend done drank the Kool-Aid. Karma doesn't really work and the reason I know this is because some really awful, terrible, horrible things have happened to really good people that I know. They didn't hate anyone or talk smack. They were good Christian people who made it a point to do good in the world like feed the hungry, care for the sick and the elderly. And what happened? Their child died very suddenly and tragically. They got fired and lost their house. You name something bad and it happened to them. I've also seen truly evil people succeed, make tons of cash and dump all over everyone. I've seen them treat their fans like crap--even berating them in public. So no, Karma is not a thing and neither is Taylor Swift.
That's not the point. The point of the song was a diss to Scooter Braun and Kanye West. Literally it. Taylor isn't saying "Hey guys karma is my LITERAL God"
Still. Words have power. She might not explicitly “worship” karma, but she lives by the twisted ideology and others listening might also be hurt by it

The biblical concept is that whatsoever a man sows he also will reap, but of course, the enemy must twist, manipulate, and corrupt everything for his own worship.
Poverty worldwide is mostly due to Karma. Why help a poor person, sick person etc. because they’re paying for their prior life. Let them suffer and their next life will be great 👍🏻
Thanks you Michael for bringing this to my attention.

@@brunetteXer I agree with you, people should educate themselves before talking about something and not spreading fake news

The problem with the idea of karma is that everyone has a different idea of what “good” or “bad” is. Taylor Swift would probably think I am a “bad” person because I don’t support homosexuality and abortion, but I think she is bad because she does…
