Unfortunately fans don't get to choose owners/ownership groups, the wealthy billionaires do... They sell to the highest bidder in same way as we sell anything to the highest bidder, never to the lowest bidder... Nor can the fans force a billionaire to sell a team either... With the city of Oakland attempting to EXTORT MLB for a expansion team, well, the MLB won't be extorted... The MLB extort cities, not the other way around... If that happened, the commissioner would be sacked before the sun sets that day...

My suggestion would be for MLB to FORCE the Fisher ownership group out and take over operations (much like when they had to step in with the Expos) until a new owner comes forth, with the stipulation and priority given to an ownership group that will commit to a new stadium in Oakland. The current owners should not be allowed to cash in on a move, not after purposely putting out an inferior product that they forced all of MLB, and Oakland in particular, to endure for the last couple of years.

Allegiant Stadium is 100% not happening. Mark Davis and Al Davis hates John Fisher and the A’s, they have publicly said it many times. The thing with the Vegas Minor League Ballpark, is that the entire ballpark would have to be upgraded to MLB standards meaning a separate clubhouse for the A’s, the lights would have to be raised to MLB standards, the real grass would have to be converted to artificial turf (I’m sure the players union would love that /s) which they would have to play on in triple digit heat, more seats would have to be added. The Giants would not want the A’s to stick around any longer so they can hope that us A’s fans can convert into Giants fans (I’m done with MLB if those shovels hit the ground in Vegas if they are still as the A’s). It’s going to get interesting, I hope John Fisher and Dave Kaval fails on his quest to Vegas. SELL THE TEAM

Reportedly, the MLBPA won't agree to let the a's play in a minor league park for three years. The clubhouse and other facilities are not up to major league park standards. The player's association doesn't want their MLB stars to deal with AAA level facilities. Really, their best choice is to bite the bullet and stay in oakland until the LV park is ready.

Even though its a last ditch effort, this is the perfect play by the city of Oakland in this situation. As an A's fan for 30 years, I am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ok with the A's ceasing to exist as a team over them continuing to exist as the Las Vegas A's. At least the A's would still be mine if only in my memories.

    • @moonytheloony6516
      @moonytheloony6516 9 месяцев назад +2

Well if the Athletics ceased to exist then they belong to nobody, but apart from your melodramatic position of hoping they go away from existence, to suit your maudlin perspective and your feelings, Its quite apparent that you are in need of a lesson in history, of which I'm more than happy to share with you.
This is not the Athletics first rodeo regarding relocation. It's not even their second rodeo...this is their third likely relocation to a fourth city, which means they have a history of moving successfully.
Las Vegas will likely be no different.
It's odd to hear of a fan wishing a team to cease to exist...given the Athletics rich history of great players from the Connie Mack era with his vaunted $100,000 infield of McInnis, Barry, Baker & Collins to the era of Foxx, Grove, Cochrane & Simmons, to the era of the Swingin' A's of Jackson, Tenace, North, Campaneris, Bando, Rudi, Blue, Fingers & Hunter, and concluding with the competitive yet under-achieving Athletics of the LaRussa era.
The Oakland Athletics do not belong to you personally. Technically they belong to the owner. All you have, all you've ever had is an emotional attachment to a team that will gladly accept your money for their tickets, and their merchandise, and in return maybe....create some wins, an occasional championship if you are lucky, and remain in your city which in the case of Oakland is rather unlikely.
I'd hate to see a team that I like, leave town, but I wouldn't be so melodramatic as to hope they disappear, to suit my emotional need to have my feelings of disappointment validated, with an absurd sense of juvenile vengeance such as you, because baseball is a business, first. It does not care, nor will it ever care about your feelings. After 30 years it's past the time for you to realize that and get a grip.
      You're Welcome.

You also forgot to factor in…
If they moved to the Las Vegas minor league stadium, they’d share it with their AAA minor league affiliate which would tear up their grass field conditions. Also all MLB teams have to play day games on days that teams have to immediately travel after the conclusion of a homestand or if a major event is happening in a city (concert, festival, conference, etc..). That means these day games in Las Vegas, players would be playing in 100+F or sometimes 110+F temps with no dome/roof & open air in the hot Sun. Add the fact that it’ll be field turf possibly if they share with their AAA team, make the field actually hotter than the air temperature. The MLBPA / union would not agree to those conditions for several years.
Also, I’m willing to bet there would be several potential owners of an expansion team in Oakland due to the fact the Bay Area is lined up with a lot of tech / Silicon Valley investors + wouldn’t have any issue potentially funding the Howard Terminal ballpark site as Oakland officials & A’s Ownership were less than $100 million gap in negotiations to fund the entire project before Fisher / A’s brass back out at the last minute & instead went to Las Vegas.
Joe Lacob owner of the NBA’s Warriors is still rumored to want to buy an MLB team. Nearly bought the A’s in the 2000s before purchasing the Warriors then.

The A’s will suck no matter what city or stadium they play in and they are no longer willing to drop $1B+ subsidy on a pro-sports franchise. Las Vegas needs to get itself a team of their own. To pick off another Oakland team seems wrong and Las Vegas is an artificial market that has yet to be proven as a stable market for baseball with that brutal heat. Once the water and gambling money runs low that market will be losing people in droves. If I’m Las Vegas, I’d think hard about committing to another public funding of a luxury playhouse for a rich man’s team. Especially when you still are paying off the bonds for your Arena and Football stadium. The state of Nevada ranks near the bottom for health, education, and they got a homeless problem. Think those need to be addressed then trying to build another billion dollar stadium.

If memory serves me right, the only reason that Fischer wants to remain at the Coliseum for the next three years is that he loses his half ownership interest in the Coliseum if he doesn't. It was due to some complicated clause in the contract. He would forfeit all his past payments towards co-ownership, something like that. MLB ought to order Fischer to move out of Oakland now or they won't approve the Las Vegas relo at all.

It just isn't worth staying three more years just to get a 50 percent interest in the Coliseum. 1. Move the current franchise to Vegas after 2024. Leave all the brand and records in Oakland
    2. Tear down the Coliseum as soon as they leave and put the new stadium on its site.
    3. MLB expands into Oakland in 2027. If the new stadium is not ready, have them play in Sacramento for a year or two, that way you don't have to worry about the Giants. For MLB to grant Oakland a new team, a new baseball stadium would have to be secured as a certainty.

Zero chance the Raiders do a deal to help the A's out without it being an even steeper deal than the Giants and the city of Oakland have or would have. Davis hates the A's front office....with a passion. Doubt they could get the MLBPA to buy off on them playing at the Aviators ballpark for 3 seasons. But the 3 sites the A's say they've identified as a post 2024 home include Summerlin and Oracle. And that those are part of the choices is pretty indicative of how ill planned this jaunt to Vegas has been. If the Coli were an option at all a competent front office could have milked an extension b4 going scorched earth since they would need an extension on the lease regardless if they stayed or left. But we ain't dealing with thoughtful competence with Fisher and Kaval. They never had a plan for where they would play once they left Oakland until I'm suspecting MLB told them they ain't playing 3 yrs in an undomed minor league ballpark in triple digit temps. Cuz the Aviators park had seemingly been their main plan for a temp home.
