As a California resident in the bay area more specifically. People around here treat laws as if they're more like a suggestion than actual laws.
dont cry about that, that means they actually use their brains.
As they should
Just like rosa parks we actually fight for our rights...and maby be mad at the gov you pay a lot for them to make roads safe instead thay turn it into an extortion racket....please read the constitution and start standing up or we will soon be Germany pre WWII and there will be no one left to save us

Why did she get away with a warning? She literally said she saw the sign that said the road was closed, but went thru because there was "a gap?"
That's not like she didn't realize how fast she was going or didn't see a stop sign or something. She saw the sign and chose to ignore it.
I'm thinking the lesson she learned was that she can probably get away with warnings if she gets caught again, as she was so obviously guilty and still was let off...
Should have gotten a ticket... It's not like it's prison. It's a ticket. You want someone to learn, let them pay it...
@Doug Spooner Technically, I don't think we know from what we saw that she didn't put the mask on when the officer approached her.
@Doug Spooner Studies are like statistics. People grab the ones they want that enforce what they want to believe.
@Doug Spooner Really dummy thinking right here. Even if you disagree with the mask stuff, she obviously put it on to talk to someone, not to drive with it.
Blondie probably used the same vacant logic with stop signs, "well, I didn't really see anyone coming so that stop sign wasn't really necessary for me to follow".
She was cute. Thats why.
It's crazy how stupid people are. I used to install sewers lines through roads when I was in my teens, and at almost every job site, you'd have one a-hole who would go around the barrier's and their front bumper would appear in the ditch above our heads while we were laying down pipe. We even watched one man inch forward slowly until the barrier folded shut and fell down, then he gunned it went down the street and we watched his car do a hand stand in the ditch, luckily for us we were on lunch break and watched it happen. Had we been in the ditch at that time someone would have been killed. It's pure entitlement at this point, or stupidity. Take your choice. We eventually had to block the streets with cement barriers that couldn't get moved, but was a pain in our butt, becasue we would have to move them out of the way when we had trucks come to deliver to us.
its crazy how stupid people are who let themselves be hindered taking an open road by a stupid sign and some afraid naysayers
Lay that pipe, my dude!
Would be hard to not want to punch the guy 😤
People go through blocked off emergency scenes all the time. I have had numerous close calls with people flying through an accident scene and coming extremely close to hitting people including myself. I even saw someone drive on people's front lawns in order to get by.
@@alpha-cf2oi Tough talk from someone who's most likely 11 years old and doesn't own a car.

ROAD CLOSED “oh well that probably doesn’t apply to me”
Sign should read “Road is closed for thru traffic. CHP enforces 24/7.” If one person who lives there ignores sign, other people will imitate to follow this person. This road had been a busy road, because nearby freeway is always jammed.
The sign just needs to read “road closed”. Most people don’t get the thru traffic part anyway. The problem isn’t so much the sign, it’s that people don’t pay attention or think things don’t apply to them.
There simply needs to be a better barricade and someone monitoring it for residents.
Another video in another city had concrete blocks and giant signs completely blocking the road, yet multiple cars still drive around only to find their car totaled once it crashes into the sinkhole a short ways down.
If you can't understand, "Road Closed" you should lose your license because you're a moron... also do you jump off a bridge because somebody else does? I see people run red lights and don't think, "Oh gee golly, must be ok to do it too!" So stupid.
None of this is CHP‘s fault. What this report didn’t mention is that Crow Canyon Road had been close for two months or more for repairs and was just re-opened. Then the rain came and they had a couple washouts so they had to close it again maybe a week later at most. I drive the road every day and could not point out one thing they did every single pothole was still there after being closed for a couple months. People should not go past road close signs PERIOD. But the county needs to get to work and stop treating this like some little back road it is a major thorough way. And it can’t be closed for months every time a bird flies by and poops on it
The fact that this report showed no evidence of any road damage while the road is closed supports your position.
@@toditron and so these people arent wrong for going past the sign..they are simply using their own eyes and ears instead of just blindly following some arbitrary rule with no real backing
My first thought was people actually tend to follow these laws more often than not and when they do not it's because there is no good reason for it in the first place. I was thinking, this is probably a major road, used by a TON of people, the county is probably doing Dick All to fix it in time. And everyone is forced to take WAY more time out of their day which is a HUGE inconvenience if your not a rich snob who can afford to spend an extra 15+ minutes a day on detours for months. Yeah I was starting to feel like I could bet on this, I thank you for your insight.
Agreed.

This reminds of one time I was in a school building and one of the 2 doors was closed for some reason and there were two at least 28", bright orange cones in front of the door AND a sign taped on the door that said it was closed. A guy who wasn't even on his phone or whatever, looking at the direction of the door, WALKED STRAIGHT PASS THE CONES TO THE DOOR. Once he pushed the door open, the alarm went off and he had a Pikachu surprise face and just awkwardly standing there till a security guard turned the alarm off.
I don't know what else is more obvious than having bright traffic cones and signs telling you to not go certain path/ no entering. But people really need to have some common sense before even getting out of their houses.
Yeah that is called being born brain dead.
An orange cone and a sign is not a barrier, for something that's normally open to the public a little sign aint gonna do it. You have to actually put a physical barrier up. It's not that people are stupid. It's just that public facilities should be open to the public.
Another option is to get the road fixed promptly.

fine the road department that is using shitty signs
A State mandated fine with a point application are generally not reduced, same as ignoring an HOV lane regulatory sign and driving in it anyway. What's contradictory is that if residents can get through, what prevents other motorists from doing the same. Rainstorms have evaded the BayArea since mid January, and whoever has greenlighted the repairs has seriously dropped the ball, or maybe awaiting the next series of storms to completely wash out the road.
there's like a million things they need to fix, and there's only so many people available to do the work

That's a pretty flimsy ass blockade. If it was a serious safety issue they should put a cement blockage.
It's a road with homes and barns. You can't access your house without driving that road or care for horses and/or other livestock. I take riding lessons in one of those barns and so we just have to show an email that was distributed to all clients and the officers lets us through. I guess business is still running too.
@@cm6995 seems like it's not a safety issue if it only applies to some and not all. Because you have business there you are protected from the road collapsing? Does that make sense? Or does it make sense that if you can use it to ride horses then other people can use it to get to work without adding significant time and fuel cost to their commute? Does it make sense for the city to close a road for weeks without doing any repairs and let some people drive on it, but not others?

Because of ignorant drivers out there that ignore the road closed sign, maybe law enforcements need to put up a stronger and more efficient blockade?
Seriously, they can put up oil barrels across the way with the sign up, and no one will be able to move them.
It would have been nice if you had shown a video or something that showed that the road was actually unsafe to travel on. Showing mud displacement off the road is not showing you whether or not the road is actually damaged. Do your due diligence and if you can't find damage to the road, ask why they've closed the road. Because a local problem with soil is not causing a problem with the road unless you document it. Best video did not document any road damage or any reason why the road is actually closed.
And this is why people are ignoring the sign. Is it right - no but people just need to get to work or whatever and they don't have time to play politics with the local municipality to get them to actually do their fucking job and get the road open. The roads been closed for days yet not a single fucking sign of them doing any work to fix it where this supposed mudslide was.
2:06 It's amazing how even when the officer is warning someone, another car just cruises along behind him, who probably just ignored the sign too.

Someone is still driving a car with a mask on when there is only 1 person in the car 😂😂😂
They should literally have a cop parked there throughout the day and night.
Its not bizarre, Bay Area residents are toxic. Especially, those entitled folk who moved in with the ability to buy overly inflated-priced homes. If I paid 1.8 million for a home that was bought for 800k a few years ago, I probably would drive pass those signs too. And for those who are just getting by to afford to stay, they are irritated. If I had to put up with rent that could be a mortgage on a Texas 3 bedroom, I probably would be just as frustrated when the roads are not being fixed fast enough. Our economy is affecting the chemistry of our communities.
It's time to make tickets for $3,000 each! That should get their attention.
So the people who live there are safe to drive on the road, but not the people who just need to get through? I guess this is kinda like you need to wear a mask to be safe, but not if you're eating, because the COVID virus took a lunch break too.
no one is safe to drive on it, it's not open to people who live there either
@@JasonBoyce then how do they go in out of their driveway? Lol. Some people
If they add 2 more sign on each side of the two existing signs that says: DANGER AHEAD, SAFETY ISSUE!Then close the gaps a little more that should help a bit
You are thinking about this from the rational mind. However, if you ever worked in government then you know that this whole thing is basically a fund raiser for the county. Those tickets are bringing in a lot of money.

You want people to respect the roads? Then how about they actually keep the roads available to be respected.
The road got reopened a week or two after this report. But I’m sure it will be closed with the next rain because no maintenance was done. They put a barrier up in one small section where the road was damaged. The mud was just plowed to the sides leaving large mounds of dirt everywhere… which clogged (even further) all the gutters/ drains through the roadway. Yesterday while driving through it there was a citizen pulled over trying to unclog one of the drains that was causing a flood. This report should follow up to why this road is neglected
Why is she wearing a mask... in her car? 3 years after the pandemic??
Traffic laws are merely a suggestion🤣 foggy lights off. Rainy lights off. Carpool dont care, on the phone while driving dont care. Road closed don't care. Do not enter don't care. No U turn don't care, block intersection don't care. No parking on Fire lane don't care.
Do they closed the road over some dirt? And for weeks?
Where are the construction workers all I see is a money grab. If it's that small mudslide why block all lanes and if it's not safe why do the cops and locals still use it ?
I work in a parking lot at a hospital but the scenario is close to the same thing I get people
Speeding through and when I put the full signs up people don’t read
Why doesn’t she get a ticket? You shouldn’t pick and choose if they all make the same error they all deserve the same ticket violation
One reason I might disobey a traffic sign is that they are clearly just left/placed mistakenly too often. I drive down the road and see 3 signs indicating the left lane is closed, to then end up with the right lane being closed for instance. Boy who cried wolf syndrome I guess. I get that having to place and pickup the signage constantly is a hassle but you are going to have to be consistent on that for me to respect it. Ultimately I would be responsible for my disregard of those signs of course, just trying to shed light on a person's thought process when they may disobey.
To the child at 1:50... every intersection is big enough to drive through without stopping, so the red light is just a suggestion and it's probably safe to blast through, right???
Heaven forbid taxpayers want to drive on roads they paid for
1:45 "Now, I know it says 'Road Closed', but I'm an Entitled Karen, so I just drove through"
Utah needs to educate the drivers the same way
Utah drivers are wild just as bad as California drivers
First thing he says, "We're not looking for revenue".. Yeah.. Right!
Instead of putting a temporary sign why don't you put a concrete barriers people get to hint at that it's actually closed.
Because people live there.
Or even one of those large electronic signs that have like 3 or 4 messages on 24/7. Not defending violators but taxes are paid and city planning cant use their brain?
The construction vehicles also still need to get in there.
There are a lot issues here that I can see cause confusion.
For instance who has the ability to close off any street and for what reasons and for how long? Should there be some notification about why it is closed, the duration of the closure, who initiated the closure, and alternate routes? There may be good reasons for the closure but what was done here was the absolute minimum and it could have been handled a lot better. That is one reason why it is being ignored.
Many times I have seen warning or closure signs that were for temporary work that is not even active or has been completed and the signs were not removed in a timely manner and the road is actually open and fine for driving. Other times I see no signs after traveling a long ways down a road from an intersection and then suddenly the road is blocked with signs instead of noting earlier up the road that it is blocked wasting people's time having to go back.
Maybe people do not know an alternate route and without one posted they try to sneak through to get to their destination?
Either a road is dangerous or it is not. Why do locals get to drive on it just because they live close by if it puts them at risk? Cannot I assume the same risk?
Is it too much to ask that a sign say closed by order of the police because of dangerous conditions until further notice and that violators will be prosecuted?
I do not really buy into the not a thru street locals only when they just do not temporarily want additional traffic down their quiet road when traffic is rerouted somewhere else. We all pay for the streets (they surely do not own them) and the needs of the many out weigh the wishes of a few.
People just want to know what is going on (why it is closed and by whom) and how long they are going to be inconvenienced. Most people will do the right thing given the appropriate information to make a sensible decision instead of arbitrarily just saying a road is closed and then making no real effort to close it.
All they have to do is put up barriers that can't be driven by or easily moved. Cops are looking for ticket money.
Been a first responder for several years and can’t tell you how many people will blow through car accident scenes, including fatalities, crime scenes etc etc etc. It’s one thing to see stuff on TV but to actually watch people drive around the “road closed” barriers, line up in the turn lane and start honking at each other to go as the next water rescue is performed in the river they’re trying to turn into. Three fully submerged vehicles, two more halfway in, barriers well established and just about every emergency vehicle in the area blocking stuff off and people sit there, take it all in, and decide “I think I can make it.” It’s absolutely mind-blowing to witness it occur before your eyes.
That sort of thing should be a license revocation. Those people should not be driving with that level of decision making process.
"i know said roads closed but i saw a big gap thought i could go thru" hello? Is your brain home??????
If the road is not safe how can residents use it to get home? Makes no sense.
If criminals can get away with stealing up to $1000 in merchandise, why shouldn’t these people also be able to also get away with breaking the law?
0:30 Did that vehicle just drive left of the median?
Everything else in this state is lawless, why wouldn't this be any different?
No Warning People Dont Care
I remember was out getting food then there was strawberry festival parade cops block off one road a lady still went past the road closure and the cop so the officer have to tell her to stop.
Why not block the whole area with a blockade of cars? They do that where I live with cones and police cars….
It's the "ME,ME,ME" society we live in, all entitled and no consequences. Sad really. How about impounding their cars until they finish a 5 day DMV school and a $750.00 fine or something like that. They'll think twice the next time. Or how about a 6 month suspension of their license and $750.00 fine.
The anti-mask anti-vax crowd proved that we are in a me-me society.
it's really not that big of a deal. If they ignore the sign and damage their car or hurt themselves because they drive into a ditch or some shit, that's on them, fuck em
It's strange that they chose not to show any actual damage to the road in explaining why the road is closed. If you are making a news story about a road closure which is being ignored by citizens who apparently don't believe in the danger then showing the reason for the closure seems like a prudent idea. Why did the news drive down there, file a report, interview officers, and not get any images of road damage? ...very strange report.
They did show a landslide that was encroaching on the roadway. It hadn't damaged the road yet or blocked any lanes but I can see why it was cause for a closure, the safety zone for rock falls has basically been eliminated in that small section. It looked to me like it would have only taken a few hours to clear, maybe a few days to get an engineering survey for ground stability
Let a land slide hit em: "Oh im suein They didn't let us know there were dangerous conditions"
I delivered concrete retired now I watched people go around barricades and cones and walk right in the concrete with my concrete truck right there and pouring the sidewalk and the finishers working it ! On road jobs on the highway they followed me right behind the cones and a big sign on the back of truck that said construction vehicle do not follow!
bigger barriers not jist a sign, in the uk there would be cones fully blocking with signs behind that with a solid barrier behind that
There are homes and barns along the road so it can't be blocked. I was taking lessons at one of the barns and we had a pass because the riding school is still open for business and horses need to care thus workers come too.
So, the road has been closed for weeks, no work is being done, the road IS passable, and the DPW is making excuses, while some people can drive down the road, but others cannot?
"Residents, business visits, and deliveries only"
So the road is open, this is just a cash grab for cops. This road is meticulous compared to most roads in the rust belt.
This is probably happening because sometimes cities will shut down roads and leave signs up for MONTHS. I was driving up into Chicago a couple years ago, and the freeway, it was narrowed down to one lane for SIXTY miles! (And I didn’t see a single construction crew working on that stretch of road!) Sure, people ignoring signs can be because of lawlessness, but it can also be because of city and construction companies leaving up signs far longer than necessary.
Unless you were driving through at night it's possible they only work at night. A lot of road construction companies switched to nights to deal with the heat and it's safer because less traffic.
Install spike mats that weight 2 tons.
😮😮Years ago, I watched an SUV go around a road barrier and drop into wet concrete. She kept going but she clearly had moist concrete on the sides of her car and in her wheel wells. She also made a mess of the road.
In Europe, we place real barriers when we close a road.
We saw what you guys did to the Rufford Ford.

Why don't they park a large construction vehicle in the middle of the road?
Or actually use road barriers currently occupying the side of the road

The city/police should have put in a much bigger barrier and perhaps contact the local radio stations to announce it if they aren't reporting about it. How hard is it really to read a sign and do what it says.
Yup. 1300 people have been caught, they are not all trying to break the law. Use better signs.

I'm pretty sure that the soil has to be in stable condition prior to repair or it will fail...when you drive on a roadway you don't always know what might be eroding beneath - fairly certain Public Works has looked at the issues deeper than those who drive over it - sorta like venturing out on what appears to be a frozen lake only to fall through in a weak spot.
there's like hundreds to thousands of road closures because of floods and collapses, it's going to take time to get to all of them
Alameda county public works spends all their time on lunch breaks and smoke breaks. All it takes is 4 hours with a front loader or backhoe and a dump truck to clear the debris.
@@Ear14 Wish it was that easy...., yes clear the debris, but also prevent it further... you have to anchor it the hill.. which takes time.
So it is one of those 'residents only' warnings based on what one of those people said. Not necessarily a complete road closure.

I mean Dublin-San Ramon -Alamo area is a super…privileged area for lack of better terms, a lot of people who live there think they are the exception to traffic laws
My thoughts precisely.
That road is a "shortcut" for a fairly select few who live nearby, and have close access to it. It's not really much of a time saver for the majority of the residents in that area.
With that being said, they should do a better job of informing the public as to the specific reasons that it is closed. Because it doesn't appear that there is anything wrong, other than some mud on the road.
Where the detour sign with arrows?
That's sort of absurd. Makes me wonder how much people ignore such signs in general now.
Figured it's kind of obvious but I guess not...
