But after 2 days of play I finally learned you have to hold the button when you batting or else you get the fucking checked swing. It was so frustrating I almost stopped playing. What are you *supposed* to do? Your instructions for what buttons to use are not clear in this "Everything" you need to know video (what buttons perform what *basic* functions isn't just part of Everything, it's *fundamental* game knowledge.) With all due respect I think you can understand why someone doesn't want to drag themselves through another video that is anything but Everything you need to know. In all fairness it sounds like you just started the game too and are going through the set up tutorials as if we hadn't already *done* that!
@@mikejonesnoreally The game doesn't force a leadoff on PS4, if it did I would definitely have noticed. If your game is forcing you to take an extra step when leading off then that could be your controller or the game is glitching. I didn't think of talking about that in my video because it's never happened to me in any of the games I played. I can understand though that someone wouldn't want to look through another video on how to do something specific when I could just say it outright, but they didn't specify everything I needed to know and at the time with the video just coming out and since I had a lot less views and subs I had to try to up that as much as I can if I want to get to my goals. To your last point, yes I did explain the way I did because I know some people might not understand certain things that others will understand immediately. I've had to explain a bunch of things that I said in the videos and that's fine, but it tells me too that the video didn't 100% do the job so I'll just have to do better the next time I do something like this.
When sliding into any base that's not 1st, holding left on the right stick slides to the left side of the bag, right to the right side, forward is just a head first slide, and down does a foot first slide
If you're talking about the meter part of it where there's the green and yellow, the green will change depending on where you're throwing the ball. For all grounders it'll be the same, but throwing from the outfield will be different depending on whether you're throwing to per say the cutoff or to home. Player lock is always on in that mode no matter what. If you want to keep track of the ball while you're running you have to hold L2/LT (depending on which console)
If you're having issues timing up the meter you can change it to just buttons to make it a little easier for now. If you want to try and get better with the timing you can go into the options explorer on the main menu and practice timing it up without worrying about messing up your players stats. If you're having issues to where you aren't throwing the ball every time though, then that could be because you're double tapping the buttons or pressing another button before they throw the ball. If you want to get rid of that then you can go into the gameplay settings and in the fielding section there is an option for throw cancelling and you can turn that off if you don't want to worry about that. The only downside is you have to make sure you choose the right base the first time you press the button. I hope I was able to help with whatever the issue was.

I'm assuming based on what you're talking about you're playing Road to the Show. How that works is when you throw the ball you have to use the right stick to put your marker in the circle at the person you're throwing it to and then press R2 to throw if you're on Playstation or the right trigger if you're on Xbox, if you wanted to change it to any of the ways I talked about you have to go into the settings, go to gameplay, go to fielding, and then change the RTTS throwing interface to what else you might want. But if you want to keep it the same, I hope I explained it good enough.
@@condria20 thank you. I was playing a solo in diamond dynasty and it zoomed on on my pitcher when he ran a he ran a ground ball down and i cant figure out the mechanic to throw it was flashing rs with a meter around it
If you're players are fake throwing every time you can go into the settings, go to the fielding section, and turn off throw canceling. That should hopefully help, but you'll obviously have to make sure you pick the right base before throwing.
Can someone Please Please HELP ME!!! How do you throw the ball from the outfielder in Road to The Show 21. It is very different from regular playing. After the ball is caught there is a circular motion the begins as you are ready to throw. What controls do I use on my PS4 to do this correctly. I just can't seem to get this right. I keep giving up runs because people keep stealing bases and when they go to steal home the dude on home base just sits there and does nothing with the ball. What buttons do I press when the are going to steal home?
The best ways to stop people from stealing any bases is to hold L2/LT and press the base they're on before you pitch or to press L1/LB after you select your pitch to step off and see if they're trying to steal. If you're getting the ball to where they're stealing and the players are just not trying to tag them no matter what you do, then that's probably a bug on their part.

Are you playing in Road To The Show? If you are and you want X to be 1st you have to to go in the mode-specific settings and change the player lock button mapping to fielder. If that's currently on classic that would explain why the ball would be going to third. Hope this helps!
I was going to say, if you learn to use more cuts while talking and using your face cam, you could easily edit things out like mistakes and then also re do certain parts of your video. Although then you may have to plan more out in terms of what you talk about per cut. But I’m not criticizing just trying to help you out! Your videos are good and helpful so thank you! I suck at this game, however I have moved up to all star hitting and pitching and can keep games 0-0 against CPU into OT innings lol… hitting is my biggest weakness, and base stealing.
I know this is older now but I still need some assistance. can you possibly explain or show how analog throwing works for outfielders? obviously they'll still throw towards whatever base you point the analog stick at, my specific issue is purposely choosing to throw to the cutoff man. I see people do it so easily and I still have trouble. the whole "press L1" thing doesn't work for me, I have tried holding L1 while throwing, I've tried throwing and THEN pressing L1, I've tried throwing and then SPAMMING L1 and it never seems to work properly for me lol. any tips? and does choosing a specific throwing style make it easier? (I currently just use buttons only)
If you're holding L1 while throwing it should work. I just used the main 4 directions again to test it out and it worked for me. If you do have a second controller I'd say test it out on that and see if it works on that one. If not then I honestly couldn't tell you why that's not working on analog throwing.
If you go into Road To The Show, go to the gameplay settings, go to the fielding section, and change the throwing interface off of Showtime to whichever else one you want. To fully make sure you don't get that you can also go into the mode-specific settings and turn off the showtime opportunities.
@sqherex you can put it to either buttons or button accuracy (whichever you may prefer to use, you can test them out to make sure which one) and if you want to make sure that you can't fake throws go down in the same settings and turn off throw canceling, but if you do that you have to make sure you pick the right base otherwise you can't cancel out of throwing it to the wrong base.
I miss the old days of advancing runners only by L1. For me, I have to use my left analog stick, point the stick towards the lead runner, and click X to send him home.
You go to the settings, go to gameplay, while on batting & baserunning you press R2 or RT (depending on the system) then change the baserunning decision from auto to assist and you can change the interface to whichever you prefer default or classic (I talked about those in the video)
You go to the batting & baserunning like before, but you go to the hitting view and change it to whatever you had it as. You may have to go through a few views to find which you had though.
The green part of the bar for button accuracy depends on the attributes of the player and how far the place that you're throwing the ball and where you are is. So if it's a throw from home with a player with low throw accuracy it's gonna be very small, whereas if you throw to first from second with a lot of accuracy it'll be a decent size.
If you're playing any online mode, exhibition, or franchise then yes those are the bases for baserunning and fielding. If you're playing Road to the Show then there's an option to flip it to A=2nd, B=3rd, Y=Home, and X=1st. But it's exactly as you said unless that option is on for the 1 specific mode.
How do I cover a base? There are times for example when I am playing 1st base and I run to cover first to expect the throw and my player either runs to far or doesnt get there. Is there a button I am suppose to press so that my player goes to cover his base?
If you're talking about in Road to the Show you hold the left stick towards the left and if you're talking about in normal gameplay then so long as you're not stealing the player should go back automatically, but you have less and less of a chance of being safe if you do lead off more than once. But maybe using R1 would help. I hope you're talking about RTTS because I'm not too certain for the other one 😅
If you're talking about in RTTS then you have to go into settings, go to the mode specific ones, and in there it should be like the 3rd one down that is player lock button mapping. Change that to fielder. If you're talking about online or franchise, then I don't think you can.
I use the button accuracy and it’s good , but was confused I played a veteran moments challenge and mookie betts threw home , and when he threw his throw bar was entirely green basically like twice normal , is there like a way to make the green margin bigger , or why was his throw bar so huge lol
It was probably bigger because it's mookie and you're on veteran. I'm pretty sure it's determined by the difficulty and the arm accuracy of the player. I'm not 100% on that but I'm pretty sure that's how it works

If you're playing road to the show it should be (depending on what system you're playing on) Triangle/Y for Home, Square/X for 1st, X/A for 2nd and Circle/B for 3rd if you have button controls on. If this doesn't help then let me know and I'll try to figure it out
It should be the R1 button, even with the same dive/jump button turned on its R1 or RB on Xbox. If that's not working then idk what could be the issue you're dealing with.

Hey brother I'm not familiar with how player lock works when you're targeting to throw to a base wondering if you could direct me to or do a video based on this. I know it sounds stupid but I only ever play franchise and don't usually control one player but I've started doing Road to the Show and I struggle as a third baseman to throw people out using the targeting system. If you're using the left stick to run, then you have to hold L1/LB and it'll zoom in towards the base. As you hold L1/LB you use the right stick to slide in whatever direction you want.
R2/RT should be the dive button depending on the console you're playing on. If that's not working try R1/RB, but if neither of those work then I honestly have no idea why you can't dive.
That can happen if you try to throw to a base and press any other button before they end up throwing it. The best way to make sure it doesn't happen is to go in settings, go to gameplay, go to the fielding section and turn throw cancelling to off. The only setback to it would be you can't change your decision after you make it, but you wouldn't have those fake throws happen anymore.
If you have the throwing meter on and not on off/no feedback then the only thing I can think is that it's a glitch. I've never had the meter on for any of the options and have it just not show up. Sorry I can't be much help
The meter shows up as you throw the ball to any of the bases. When you have the ball you press the base you want to throw it to and if the setting is on button accuracy you hold the button until its in the green section and if it's on buttons, then you just press the button for the base without holding.

If you go into settings, and go to the fielding portion in the gameplay settings, you go to the catch position indicator at the bottom and change it to drifting ball.
If you use the analog stick to run don't touch it unless you plan on going to 2nd or beyond. If you're using L1/L2 or RB/LB to run then don't touch those unless you plan on going to 2nd or beyond. If you're not touching anything and it's making you go to another base, then something could be wrong with your controller.
If they're between the bases you just have to run into them. If it's at a base you just have to have the ball in the fielders glove at that base before they get to it and it should do it automatically.
Is there any way to change the running mechanic for an individual player I don’t think I’ll be used to having to push the analog stick up and down. I’m playing road to the show and if I want my player to stop he keeps going
If you go into the settings in RTTS and go into the mode-specific settings, you can change the player lock baserunning interface to buttons which would let you use the L1 and R1 or LB and RB instead of the stick. Hope this helps!
If you go to settings, go to gameplay, then use LB to go to General, then press LT to go to advanced, there should be a setting at the bottom to turn off vibration.
@@condria20 all I see in Advance is Guess pitch base running decisions base running interface sliding decisions and runner windows nothing about turning off vibration.
Those are the batting/baserunning advanced settings. Once you go into the settings you have to press LB to move from the batting/baserunning settings over to general. Then you press LT to go to the advanced for general and it'll be towards the bottom.
I can’t get my outfield to run! I keep using the analog stick like past games and my outfielders keep walking to the ball and letting it fall. Please help!
I can see that as either one of 2 things, either your game is being very glitchy or it could be your controller's analog stick could be messed up. If you have another controller I'd say try with that one and see if anything changes, but if that still doesn't work then I don't think I can really help with the situation. If it still doesn't work the best bet would probably be to email them.

I don't think there's a way to do that. You can either continue with the cards you have or you can restart from the beginning with nothing. And even then I don't know exactly how to restart from the beginning
To manually slide you have to hold L1 and move your right stick in any direction. If you're getting picked off a lot something I could suggest is hold the left stick left while the pitcher is getting ready ready pitch and either letting it go as he's pitching or then hold right if you want to steal as he's pitching.

Okay so if you're locked to a specific player, when you're in the lineup screen I'm guessing they have a little logo to the right of them. Go to that player and press R2 or RT (depending on console) and that should hopefully fix the issue

That's a great question, I've tried a few things, but never really got it to work and unfortunately I won't be able to play my game to test more things out until probably tonight. Well using buttons is a chance based on the fielding stats your player has. Using button accuracy let's you control if it is a good throw or bad depending on if you can time it right so as long as the fielding and arm accuracy isn't like 5 then that method usually works. As for your other comment, the fielding settings should have both the wall ribbon and defense shift whether you look at them in the RTTS screen or the main screen of the game
You move the right stick to whatever direction you want to slide before you get to the base. If you want to go head first you hold up, feet first down, left for left, and right for right.
Unless you're accidentally pressing R1 after you hit the ball your runners shouldn't be running back. I don't know what could even cause that to be happening.
You press the button they are stealing to, so Y or Triangle is 2nd and X or Square is 3rd. The thing is I'm pretty sure you have to hold them and time it to get in the green in the meter. I'm not 100% sure if the meter still pops up if you're using buttons or analog, but it definitely pops up for button accuracy

Let's say you have a player on 1st and 3rd and you want to lead off more with the guy on 1st, you would hold your left stick to the right (towards first) and press R1 (while holding right) if you're on PS or RB if you're on Xbox. If you want to steal you hold right and press R2 on PS or RT if you're on Xbox. Hope this helps!

Yes if you don't want to do any baserunning aside from after hitting the ball you need to go into settings in RTTS, go to the mode-specific settings, and change the player lock baserunning opportunities to none. If you do that you won't have to worry about baserunning when other players are batting
That technically was the practice mode. The custom practice that they have is only for hitting and pitching, so if I need something specific for fielding and baserunning to show it off I have to get lucky. Unless I'm completely missing something, but I don't think I am.
When you're running towards a base you hold L1 and while holding you move the right stick up for a head first slide, left or right for sliding in either direction, and down for a feet first slide.
How it should work is if you're hitting you hold up on the left stick to keep running and if you want to stop at let's say 2nd base for a double you hold up past 1st and once you're about halfway between the bases you should be able to let go of the stick and stop at the next base. If you want to guarantee you stop though what you could do is as you're approaching the base hold down L1 to look at the base and use your right stick to slide left, right, head first, or feet first.
It's possible I messed up something with left and right. I messed it up when helping someone in the comments so I could see myself doing it in the video.
Yeah I do have my camera flipped because I want the camera on the right side and if it was normal I'd be looking away from the middle of the video so I flipped it.

If possible, always try to throw before you actually get the ball. It helps get the ball to where you want it faster

I suck at this game, however I have moved up to all star hitting and pitching and can keep games 0-0 against CPU into OT innings lol… hitting is my biggest weakness, and base stealing.

I know this is older now but I still need some assistance. can you possibly explain or show how analog throwing works for outfielders? obviously they'll still throw towards whatever base you point the analog stick at, my specific issue is purposely choosing to throw to the cutoff man. I see people do it so easily and I still have trouble. the whole "press L1" thing doesn't work for me, I have tried holding L1 while throwing, I've tried throwing and THEN pressing L1, I've tried throwing and then SPAMMING L1 and it never seems to work properly for me lol. any tips? and does choosing a specific throwing style make it easier? (I currently just use buttons only)
If you're holding L1 while throwing it should work. I just used the main 4 directions again to test it out and it worked for me. If you do have a second controller I'd say test it out on that and see if it works on that one. If not then I honestly couldn't tell you why that's not working on analog throwing.
How do I get rid of the bullseye when I’m throwing a ground ball!? Super frustrating and my throws are always wide.
If you go into Road To The Show, go to the gameplay settings, go to the fielding section, and change the throwing interface off of Showtime to whichever else one you want. To fully make sure you don't get that you can also go into the mode-specific settings and turn off the showtime opportunities.

@sqherex you can put it to either buttons or button accuracy (whichever you may prefer to use, you can test them out to make sure which one) and if you want to make sure that you can't fake throws go down in the same settings and turn off throw canceling, but if you do that you have to make sure you pick the right base otherwise you can't cancel out of throwing it to the wrong base.

Hi forgive a potential obvious question, runner on 1st and 3rd. How do i send the runner on first without sending the runner on third?
Before the pitch is thrown, hold right with your left stick and press L2 or LT (depending on system)
I miss the old days of advancing runners only by L1. For me, I have to use my left analog stick, point the stick towards the lead runner, and click X to send him home.
Do you know how to turn off auto running
You go to the settings, go to gameplay, while on batting & baserunning you press R2 or RT (depending on the system) then change the baserunning decision from auto to assist and you can change the interface to whichever you prefer default or classic (I talked about those in the video)

You go to the batting & baserunning like before, but you go to the hitting view and change it to whatever you had it as. You may have to go through a few views to find which you had though.

How do you change the size meter with button accuracy
The green part of the bar for button accuracy depends on the attributes of the player and how far the place that you're throwing the ball and where you are is. So if it's a throw from home with a player with low throw accuracy it's gonna be very small, whereas if you throw to first from second with a lot of accuracy it'll be a decent size.
Big confused about base running is it the same buttons weither your fielding or on base so on xbox B is first Y second X 3rd and A home?
If you're playing any online mode, exhibition, or franchise then yes those are the bases for baserunning and fielding. If you're playing Road to the Show then there's an option to flip it to A=2nd, B=3rd, Y=Home, and X=1st. But it's exactly as you said unless that option is on for the 1 specific mode.
How do I cover a base? There are times for example when I am playing 1st base and I run to cover first to expect the throw and my player either runs to far or doesnt get there. Is there a button I am suppose to press so that my player goes to cover his base?
Not to my knowledge. Whenever you cover any base in RTTS it should lock you into covering if you're covering the base when you should be
how do you manually jump back to the base if you are leading 0ff and the pitcher throws to pick you off?
If you're talking about in Road to the Show you hold the left stick towards the left and if you're talking about in normal gameplay then so long as you're not stealing the player should go back automatically, but you have less and less of a chance of being safe if you do lead off more than once. But maybe using R1 would help. I hope you're talking about RTTS because I'm not too certain for the other one 😅
How do you flip it so that Y throws home and A throws to second??
If you're talking about in RTTS then you have to go into settings, go to the mode specific ones, and in there it should be like the 3rd one down that is player lock button mapping. Change that to fielder. If you're talking about online or franchise, then I don't think you can.

I use the button accuracy and it’s good , but was confused I played a veteran moments challenge and mookie betts threw home , and when he threw his throw bar was entirely green basically like twice normal , is there like a way to make the green margin bigger , or why was his throw bar so huge lol
It was probably bigger because it's mookie and you're on veteran. I'm pretty sure it's determined by the difficulty and the arm accuracy of the player. I'm not 100% on that but I'm pretty sure that's how it works

If you're playing road to the show it should be (depending on what system you're playing on) Triangle/Y for Home, Square/X for 1st, X/A for 2nd and Circle/B for 3rd if you have button controls on. If this doesn't help then let me know and I'll try to figure it out

It should be the R1 button, even with the same dive/jump button turned on its R1 or RB on Xbox. If that's not working then idk what could be the issue you're dealing with.

Hey brother I'm not familiar with how player lock works when you're targeting to throw to a base wondering if you could direct me to or do a video based on this. I know it sounds stupid but I only ever play franchise and don't usually control one player but I've started doing Road to the Show and I struggle as a third baseman to throw people out using the targeting system.

I'd go with strike zone 1 or 2 if you want to be closer to everything or strike zone 3 if you want to be a little further away.

If you're using the left stick to run, then you have to hold L1/LB and it'll zoom in towards the base. As you hold L1/LB you use the right stick to slide in whatever direction you want.

R2/RT should be the dive button depending on the console you're playing on. If that's not working try R1/RB, but if neither of those work then I honestly have no idea why you can't dive.

That can happen if you try to throw to a base and press any other button before they end up throwing it. The best way to make sure it doesn't happen is to go in settings, go to gameplay, go to the fielding section and turn throw cancelling to off. The only setback to it would be you can't change your decision after you make it, but you wouldn't have those fake throws happen anymore.
It does not show the throwing meter even tho I have it on
If you have the throwing meter on and not on off/no feedback then the only thing I can think is that it's a glitch. I've never had the meter on for any of the options and have it just not show up. Sorry I can't be much help

The meter shows up as you throw the ball to any of the bases. When you have the ball you press the base you want to throw it to and if the setting is on button accuracy you hold the button until its in the green section and if it's on buttons, then you just press the button for the base without holding.

If you go into settings, and go to the fielding portion in the gameplay settings, you go to the catch position indicator at the bottom and change it to drifting ball.

If you use the analog stick to run don't touch it unless you plan on going to 2nd or beyond. If you're using L1/L2 or RB/LB to run then don't touch those unless you plan on going to 2nd or beyond. If you're not touching anything and it's making you go to another base, then something could be wrong with your controller.
How do you tag a runner out????
If they're between the bases you just have to run into them. If it's at a base you just have to have the ball in the fielders glove at that base before they get to it and it should do it automatically.

If you go into the settings in RTTS and go into the mode-specific settings, you can change the player lock baserunning interface to buttons which would let you use the L1 and R1 or LB and RB instead of the stick. Hope this helps!

How do I turn off vibration? I can’t find it anywhere I’m on Xbox.
If you go to settings, go to gameplay, then use LB to go to General, then press LT to go to advanced, there should be a setting at the bottom to turn off vibration.
@@condria20 all I see in Advance is Guess pitch base running decisions base running interface sliding decisions and runner windows nothing about turning off vibration.
Those are the batting/baserunning advanced settings. Once you go into the settings you have to press LB to move from the batting/baserunning settings over to general. Then you press LT to go to the advanced for general and it'll be towards the bottom.
I can’t get my outfield to run! I keep using the analog stick like past games and my outfielders keep walking to the ball and letting it fall. Please help!
I can see that as either one of 2 things, either your game is being very glitchy or it could be your controller's analog stick could be messed up. If you have another controller I'd say try with that one and see if anything changes, but if that still doesn't work then I don't think I can really help with the situation. If it still doesn't work the best bet would probably be to email them.

I don't think there's a way to do that. You can either continue with the cards you have or you can restart from the beginning with nothing. And even then I don't know exactly how to restart from the beginning
How do I manually slide when running? I’m playing Road to the show and have gotten picked off multiple times because it’s not sliding.
To manually slide you have to hold L1 and move your right stick in any direction. If you're getting picked off a lot something I could suggest is hold the left stick left while the pitcher is getting ready ready pitch and either letting it go as he's pitching or then hold right if you want to steal as he's pitching.

By Defense do you mean diving for a ball? I don't think there's really any sliding in defense

Okay so if you're locked to a specific player, when you're in the lineup screen I'm guessing they have a little logo to the right of them. Go to that player and press R2 or RT (depending on console) and that should hopefully fix the issue

That's a great question, I've tried a few things, but never really got it to work and unfortunately I won't be able to play my game to test more things out until probably tonight. i play button fielding no matter if i tap or hold it throws the same nearly every time 5 seasons iv thrown 1 pull off base lol
Well using buttons is a chance based on the fielding stats your player has. Using button accuracy let's you control if it is a good throw or bad depending on if you can time it right so as long as the fielding and arm accuracy isn't like 5 then that method usually works. As for your other comment, the fielding settings should have both the wall ribbon and defense shift whether you look at them in the RTTS screen or the main screen of the game

You move the right stick to whatever direction you want to slide before you get to the base. If you want to go head first you hold up, feet first down, left for left, and right for right.

Unless you're accidentally pressing R1 after you hit the ball your runners shouldn't be running back. I don't know what could even cause that to be happening.

You press the button they are stealing to, so Y or Triangle is 2nd and X or Square is 3rd. The thing is I'm pretty sure you have to hold them and time it to get in the green in the meter. I'm not 100% sure if the meter still pops up if you're using buttons or analog, but it definitely pops up for button accuracy

Let's say you have a player on 1st and 3rd and you want to lead off more with the guy on 1st, you would hold your left stick to the right (towards first) and press R1 (while holding right) if you're on PS or RB if you're on Xbox. If you want to steal you hold right and press R2 on PS or RT if you're on Xbox. Hope this helps!

Baserunning is a bit too technical for me. Only saw baseball from movie. I'm fine with the game doing it for me
How do you turn off Baserunning so you don’t have to play it in games
If you're talking about Road To The Show, then you go to settings, Mode-Specific, and change the Baserunning Opportunities to none. If you're talking about the rest of the game then you need to go to the gameplay settings and while in the batting section press R2/RT (depending on which console you're on) and change the baserunning decisions to auto and Sliding Decisions to On.

Yes if you don't want to do any baserunning aside from after hitting the ball you need to go into settings in RTTS, go to the mode-specific settings, and change the player lock baserunning opportunities to none. If you do that you won't have to worry about baserunning when other players are batting

That technically was the practice mode. The custom practice that they have is only for hitting and pitching, so if I need something specific for fielding and baserunning to show it off I have to get lucky. Unless I'm completely missing something, but I don't think I am.
I don't know how to slide in Road to the show
When you're running towards a base you hold L1 and while holding you move the right stick up for a head first slide, left or right for sliding in either direction, and down for a feet first slide.

How it should work is if you're hitting you hold up on the left stick to keep running and if you want to stop at let's say 2nd base for a double you hold up past 1st and once you're about halfway between the bases you should be able to let go of the stick and stop at the next base. If you want to guarantee you stop though what you could do is as you're approaching the base hold down L1 to look at the base and use your right stick to slide left, right, head first, or feet first.
