Yo thanks! this opened the door for me! you broke it down really well and understanding the concept of the tapping and filling has really showed me how lots of things are achieved in juggling
For all new beat jugglers watching this, this is an advanced pattern of movement. I would suggest learning and mastering Shorkut's Strobe/Chase pattern first. (Babu and Melo D have a video breaking down that pattern.) It will provide you with the proper timing to execute what Mike C is demonstrating.
I’ve checked this clip in my early stages and didn’t get it at that time but now this helps me at this stage to at least practice on this w these tips. Ty
I could've swore I've seen Roc Raida rocking this concept before. I just can't find the vid online anymore. Regardless who did it first shit was hella innovative for it's time. Definitely hella dope breaking that same 2 record juggles. Thanks for sharing this. I've totally forgotten about this concept of juggling.
Stumbled across this video and like the concept you're going after. The whole breaking down the DJ's and how they did what they did. Seems like you have some skills too! hope the channel gains some traction
Yo MIke thankyou my man. I tried learning this before and just quit from frustration but you have opened up my world of turtablism again. this is a game changer thankyou BOSS

Yoooo, thanks for this video!!! Now I know what was going on and it's time to search for the right beats for the breakdown!!!!! Salute to you my brotha......

Mike! Definitely wanna thank you for the conceptual break-down... And the next time you talk to Rob Swift or DJ Akiko Luv, please tell them that Jack Napier said, "WHAT UP!"
What Melo D is actually doing is taking the kick from FC and then drumming with his other hand and rewinding both and repeating much different from the style you are demonstrating.
I don't think you meant to say what these guys were doing back then can hold up to what DJs do in 2018? You had to study a video to be able to do what he was doing. These guys kill anything that a DJ does now. Maybe I misunderstood you?
In any era of DJing there are those that stand out above the rest of their contemporaries. In the 1990s, the Junkies and others I mentioned were definitely those dudes. And having been to some DMC regionals in 2017-2019, I can confidently say that their routines from back then would still make the Top 6 at some regionals, at minimum. Very impressive considering they were busting those routines 20+ years ago. I myself first studied these tapes in 1996 or so, but it’s clear that DJs of today can still learn from them. Hope that clears things up. - Mike C
I think people were doing far more complex beat juggling back in the day then they are today! They would definitely hold up today. Watch some old battles check out Develop in 96 ITF
This works well for juggling dnb tracks especially if you get a track and a vip remix of the same track
Great lesson here, thank you

Yeah that was awesome.
First i though it was actually complicated.
Thank you so much i think i got it now.
The best thing is to get two copies from of blind alley and learn babu's routine, it teaches you everything
Yes you can definitely pick up a lot from that one 👍
The Biz routine obviously too & Raida's Supa Star juggle.
OMG! thank you I been trying to figure this out forever.
Factzzzzz
the beat is called Skullsnaps - A New Day
Which of course is the breakbeat in funky child. Given the barely audible bass in the video, it’s just the breakdown part of funky child.
James Brown My Thang is the brass hook
Thank you for this
Very Good !!
Man,thanks for the insight.I used to be lost when DJ's juggled.
