Made this today and it was a HIT with my dinner guests! I even dressed it exactly like u did wif the honey, walnuts and thyme leaves. OMG...SOOOOO GOOD! Dont know why, but it took a whole hour longer in the 100deg C oven for the cake to firm up, so for those making this for the first time, do leave to cook longer if the filling still looks wobbly when u r trying to remove it from the oven after 1.5h.
10 mins first in 230C and then for 1,5 hour at 100C. When you had it pre-heating and opened the door, the heat from 230C went down to probably 150C, so you would have to add 2-3 more mins till it will reach 230 again and after 10 mins you decrease to 100C.
Had friends over last week, made this "greek yogurt cheesecake"…. all I can say is that, they ate the crumbs :)) so you can imagine how much they loved it, once again thank you Akis.
I want to make this for my hubby's birthday coming up, but I'm baffled on the conversion of 1.2 kg yogurt to litres. Usually here in cape town South Africa, we buy Greek yogurt in 1litre tubs, so please tell me how many tubs I need to use
I made this recently. And the subtle yet beautiful hints of flavours with the honey, walnuts and thyme leaves, really make this dessert a stand out. I cheated a little and scooped a little spoon of mascarpone on the side. Not that this tasty recipe requires it. But man it took it to another level. Once again not that it needed it but l had the mascarpone and l had to use it up. It complimented this dessert so well. Thank you for sharing this. It’s now a hit in my family! 😃
Such a decidant cheesecake. *I made this with a few alterations* -I used 0% nonfat greek plain yogurt -half the amount of sweetener and used light agave nectar instead of sugar. -made my own crust using 2 cups ground rolled oats, 1/4 cup raw honey, and 1/2 cup coconut oil. I made the rest as he showed. I saved this recipe because its honestly the lightest cheesecake calorie wise without compromising on flavor/texture. You can make it without the crust for lower carbs and still be very delicious 😋
I made this for my family and we loved it! I halved the recipe, but not the base, and only baked for 45 mins. My son and I couldn't wait to refrigerate it so we had a slice when it was still slightly warm - yummmm! I've made this using plain biscuits as well as chocolate coated ones and they're both great!
Thank you Akis for this recipe, i done it 5 times by now and with tonight make it 6 times 😋..i always come back to this recipe when i want something sweet but lighter. I love it the best Chesee Cake ever!!😍
Hello! I have been searching all over the Internet for a Greek yogurt cheesecake. I am so happy to have found one that is actually a Greek recipe! I have all of my ingredients so I will be trying this over the weekend. I also love the fact that it is sprinkled on top with walnuts honey and Thyme. I'm not used to using an herb for desserts, but I am going to give it a try. Thank you for showing the recipe so nicely. Wish me luck!

Paul did you know that cheesecake derives from Ancient Greece. Apparently it was a well known recipe in the ancient world that apart from all the other things they stole that too 😂
I just made it!! It's in the oven now. My first EVER cheesecake I made. I am also making a blueberry sauce to go on top!! Thanks for this recipe, Akis! UPDATE: It's good!! Nice recipe!! Only thing is it needed some chocolate syrup on top and it was excellent!!
One of my favorites. I saw this when you posted it and I've been making them a lot. I made cream cheese using your cream cheese recipe and tried it with this and it was really nice. Thanks for this awesome recipe 🙏🏻
Baking question: When making the regular, New York cheesecake, I always put a tray of simmering water in the oven to have enough moisture to prevent the cake top from cracking (also, it's a good idea to tap the springform pan on the table a couple of times before cooking to release any air bubbles). Would this work with yogurt as well? The consistency looks quite different (more runny) and cooking time is much longer, at a higher temperature.
For anyone that wants a low calorie version of this , switch the yogurt to fat free plain greek yogurt, and a sugar alternative, and lower the recipe down a little as an the ingredients!
Thanks for sharing this recipe! A friend of mine used to make the yoghurt version many years ago (I lost her recipe), it's delicious and so much lighter than the cream cheese version. We make thick yoghurt where I come from, so we'd strain it with a cheese-cloth overnight, to make it even thicker for the cheesecake. Definitely trying this soon!
Damn this looks SO much better and healthier than that New York style cheesecake! I can actually picture the ancient Greeks making something like this. It's things like this that make me so proud to be a Greek!
Awesome recipe, I watched an anime where they told that strained greek yogurt is more delicate in terms of flavor as opposed to cream cheese. I'm pretty sure that will be helpful to make other flavors stand out better. Also, it's definitely more lighter and less calorically dense which will definitely help when cheesecake is your guilty pleasure.
