there isn't that many sound tracks in the game but they are so good that even if you have listened to them 1000 times, it really doesn't get old. so many amazing factory games one after another. also the reason DSP runs so well is because they are using Unity DOTS, which is a ECS (entity component system). the way you have to program is slightly different but it lines the data/logic up for the cpu/gpu in ways that they like and that is why it's so performant. it's harder on human eyes but easier for the computer to execute. i believe Factorio and Satisfactory have their own version of ECS (custom built, i don't believe the Unreal Engine has a pre built ECS solution). my wow factor was taken by fortresscraft evolved (very jank but the fun kind!) but since i got DSP when it was only a few months old on steam EA it changed to DSP. the scale that DSP brings is honestly unparallel to any other game so far.

I'd say DSP is actually one of the LESS complex facory sims. No absolute terrain sporge and machines on z levels like satisfactory to deal with. And no handling of special cargo in special ways like in factorio. But on the other hand this makes it INFINETELY more approachable to someone interested in the genre. Like me .. I found factorio/satisfactory somewhat intimidating. But once I learned some of the more basic systems in DSP I felt ready to handle those other games. Not that you can't jump into any. But I found DSP a perfect gateway game. And it's nice aesthetically to be working towards a cool goal. Rather than in factorio where the objective is just survive/escape. And Satisfactory where you are .. yet again. A wageslavel.
You're 100% right. I think that's what got me so sucked into it vs Satisfactory and Factorio. Both great games, but the mechanics around DSP just made progress feel less daunting compared to Satisfactory, where spagettification gets so much worse the longer you play. And I had a similar experience with Factorio.
My beef with these types of games is there is no search function to find the specific material you mining or been fabricating. So a lot of those games causes you to lose a lot of time on finding said components. The more you expand, to more you spend time trying to figure out what you placed where. Sure, you will remember a lot of the locations, but for the ones you don't, you'll scratch your head for a minute making more of a "find Waldo" than actual gameplay. It just gets worse the more you expand. These types of games needs a proper SEARCH function.
100% agree and it's something that threw me off initial playthroughs. However, after watching a tutorial on the game (think it's Dutch Actuary), he explained the importance of building malls, making it easy to find everything in one place. Not ideal, but that plus adding icons to conveyor belts really helped me find what I needed.
@@easilydistractedgames -- I can guarantee the company who can make a proper search function and a high rating game; will set the standard for every game moving forward. Devs often confuses difficulty with inconvenience.
It's hard to say. The devs seem pretty set on the PC for now, especially with the combat update. Transferring to console will take up plenty of resources, so perhaps it'll come closer to its official release.
@@easilydistractedgames that would be cool because it's hard for me to get PC parts where I live and I don't know jack squat about how to find good parts my self sooo I'm kind of stuck as a console gamer.and DSP is a game I like but can't play ya know lol.

It actually needs some kind of at a glance information when you pull up the map. The only actual way to track down where you've built things is pulling up the production menu. Planets and systems with things built on them aren't even color coded to represent that something is built there or that you've never visited or anything of value.
Note: Dyson Sphere Program does allow multiplayer via the nebula multiplayer mod. I haven't tried it yet but will do so soon.

Just started playing recently and I can already see myself putting hundreds if not thousands of hours
Yeah it becomes very addictive very quickly.
do you think DSP will reach PS5/XSX? or will we have to wait for the next gen console?
It's hard to say. The devs seem pretty set on the PC for now, especially with the combat update. Transferring to console will take up plenty of resources, so perhaps it'll come closer to its official release.
@@easilydistractedgames that would be cool because it's hard for me to get PC parts where I live and I don't know jack squat about how to find good parts my self sooo I'm kind of stuck as a console gamer.and DSP is a game I like but can't play ya know lol.
It sad this game isn't on GOG.
May the algorithm favor you
A word of caution to anyone picking up this game: once it sinks its claws into you, you will no longer value sleep as a priority. Absolutely ruined my productivity, my circadian rhythm, and my life in general 10/10 it has a little something for everyone
the little things that have made me switch my manic focus from factorio over to DSP:
belt stacking
looping/spherical building surface
G R A P H I C S
idk theres more but yea
Haha yeah I'm with you there on the graphics, plus, that soundtrack is soo good.
cool
bro, i was not thinking kurzgesagt in the slightest
For the algo!!!
How does your channel have so little subscribers?
I've just started, but thanks! That really means a lot.
I played a lot of DSP before i tried Captain of Industry, never played DSP again lol
What factors of Captains of Industry do you enjoy more compared to DSP?
From w-who? did you try to say Kurzgesagt? :) [1:47]
I always mix up the pronunciation! I've seen almost all their videos but somehow managed to fumble the name here. My apologies!
@easilydistractedgames If I sound out the word in English, i'd spell it "Courts-gae-sahk-t" (scilent t, no e). It's okay, though. German is tough to pronounce sometimes, heck I'm native german and I have trouble pronnouncing things lol
The only thing this game needs, is user creatable POI waypoints as I'm always loosing things...
It actually needs some kind of at a glance information when you pull up the map. The only actual way to track down where you've built things is pulling up the production menu. Planets and systems with things built on them aren't even color coded to represent that something is built there or that you've never visited or anything of value.
got to about 200hours in and then my pc just started to slow so i could not finnish the game :(
Ahh no! Even on its lowest settings?
My man sounds like a Saffer
Yup, this accent will never leave me.
"quality voice clips" ... what? where? x3
The game is much more entertaining with infinite resources
Great game but terrible logistic for cleening junke from your char
Did this script get written by AI? So repetitive in the intro.
It wasn't, but I see what you mean. I'm still trying to improve my intros, but thanks for the feedback.
Your pronunciation of kurzgesagt needs some work xe.
Not that great
