Some more information about the Amber Rose. My brother’s mother-in-law started the restaurant, which is on the National Historic Register. The restaurant sits in what is termed as “Old North Dayton” area of the city of Dayton. The area was settled by the Germans, Polish, Hungarians and the Lithuanian people. The menu features dishes from all these ethnic groups and one of my favorites are the cabbage rolls. The house breads are delicious also. It is supposedly haunted and part of the haunted Ohio tour although I have never experienced anything while dining there but the staff can fill you in on that aspect.
Thank you so much for the information Denis Berger!
Thanks for the info
My favorites are Taqueria Mixteca, Victors Taco Shop, Benjamin's Burger Master and the recently closed El Grecos on Salem ave. They had the best tacos around! RIP
Thanks for watching Smelch937! It's our pleasure, let us know if there's anything we can do to help in the future :)
Jimmie's Ladder 11 (fka The Cornerstone) is GREAT!
So is Clancy's on Burkhardt!
Sliders on Watervleit, too
Yes. And it's Slyder's
My two favorite were I think there closed now but Grubb Steak on North Main and Old Hickory on East 3rd and North Main
Thanks for the input Marcus Conley!
Great list and thank you
Joe's Pizza!
That's the BEST
We're moving back to the Dayton area in a couple of years. Hope Joe's is still there (we know it will be)!
Joes is joes!!!! A must go
That what I had for dinner last night !
You can’t have a list of best restaurants without Bourbon Street Grill. Hands down best food in Dayton.
Thanks for the Suggestion Jl Day! Myself, nor anyone on my team, has been there before, but we will have to give it a try! What is your favorite item to get there?
@@LivinginDaytonOhio The bourbon chicken over rice with the Cajun potatoes.
@@jlday2667 Thanks for helping us pick our next dinner spot! haha
Dayton Fish on N. Main is SUPER good. Alot of healthy options on the menu if your trying to avoid carbs & or salt👌💯
Going to visit my aunt so thanks for the video
Naim R, Thanks for watching!
Yes!! The wheat penny is amazing
Thanks for watching NightPear! Thanks for the input!
Good choices!
The best CHINESE food in town is China Cottage on Far Hills. The best, by far.
Yes it is!
Not bad. I think Shen's Szechuan & Sushi beats them.
Archers has 2 locations (Kettering and Centerville) and great food. Thai Kitchen on Kingsridge is awesome. Mama Disalvo's in Kettering. Top it off with desert at Bill's Donuts a staple of Centerville.
Are you kidding archers is terrible 😂
I like pizzarini uno and marrions. And Upper Crust
Iived in Dayton all my life the ol hickory an treasure island no word on them
Thanks for watching Jeffery Beeker! We couldn't get them all in there, so thank you for adding another to this fantastic list!
I've lived here 10 years now. I need to go inside of Old Hickory at some point.
The blueberry cafe is 30 mins from downtown Dayton for those who think it’s local. 🙃
The only places I’ve been to on the list are the lock 27s lol. Archers is also pretty good
We really do enjoy Lock 27! It is definitely one of our go-to places when just trying to hang out and enjoy a bit of food!
Thanks for the info on all the restaurants you like in Dayton. I noticed that you must have a teleprompter up above the camera because you keep looking up from the camera level. To hide that just move your camera up alongside the prompter and the viewer will not notice.
Charlie's deli? Marions, cassanos, milanos! Mikells, and dk effect
The "_Pinewood_" Club is really named The "_Pine_" Club. I, at first, thought they changed the name when Dave retired. -- just a nit for this nice video.
2nd nit: "Taquerita Mixana" is really "Taqueria Mixteca." - - BTW, all these locations can be mapped since maps.google "knows" all the names ( the correct na,mes, - heh ).
Oopps. Thanks for catching that! Appreciate the feedback, Gmoritz71 Last!
Christopher's had the best soups. Located in Kettering, though. Still there?
my wife cooked their soup
Great list! One correction… it’s the Pine Club, (not Pinewood).
Amber Rose has the best roast.
Best place to get a sandwich Charlie's import foods on troy st in Old North Dayton
Thanks for watching Gemcitysnow opp free Irish Mob! We appreciate your input!
That's a fact.💪💯
the Pine Club still available? It was great for steaks when I was attending UD in the mid 60ties
My two years in Dayton in the mid sixties were well spent. I regret not staying in Dayton after Graduating from UD in 1967!
Thanks for watching John McCarty! Still great steaks and still cash only. :)
Sure is. Heading there next friday for our 5th wedding anniversary.
Sueños is good!
Toxic tacos, Taquitos Uruapan are two great places as well for Mexican style
Why isn't China Cottage on here? Best Chinese restaurant in the whole world! Miss that place after moving away. Also Ritter's Frozen Custard!
I don't know what to say except that I'm glad your palate and mine are about 180 degrees apart. Oakwood Club yes, Blueberry NOT...Amber Rose, maybe 30 years ago. Flemings, even though it's a chain...yes... El Mason...overpriced, over-rated...Sweney's seafood rocks over Jay's... And U forgot/omitted Tanks
Pasha Grill at the Greene.
Bunny's Hasty Tasty on Linden ave.
Thanks for Watching Gregory Kosins! We appreciate the input!
Driven by on 35 a million times and have never stopped. I need to try it.
It’s just Pine Club not Pinewood. And you should move your prompter so it doesn’t look like you’re searching the sky.
McKenzie River!
Thanks for the input Jason Jackson!
You're mentioning Centerville?
Ok, but how do they rate by the local health department is a big question.
Golden Nugget!
They don't exist anymore.
@@elbob17 I know, it's a terrible lose
The amber rose has mediocre cabbage rolls. Too bad cuz it is a charming place
The most fun thing to do in Dayton? Drive to Cincinnati.
You are definitely about Dayton.
hmmm to move to the Dayton area? lol ok
Anyway, if you’re watching this…. I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio (Northridge). I moved from Dayton to the foothills of Tennessee. I encourage you to move to Tennessee. Dayton is a wasteland.
Now I typed in Hoagies pizza hoping that finally they did a video on them… but nah seen this instead.
No general locations for these places? I been in the Dayton, Ohio area for over 44 years and never heard of any of them except for the Paragon Place and Jay's Seafood. Marion's Pizza gets my vote as best eatery in the Dayton, Ohio area followed up by Euro Bistro in Riverside. Surprised Peerless Mill was not mentioned here. The El Mesa is in West Carrollton, Ohio, thank goodness I knew that location. For those moving to Dayton, you need to give an idea on the general location of these places for those newcomers.
Thanks for watching J.Stormtracker440. We took a poll in the "Dayton foodies" group on Facebook to try and find the best places for newcomers. There were soooo many great suggestions we couldn't name them all. We love it when people add more to the list, so thanks so much for that.
@@LivinginDaytonOhio You're welcome.
@Steve Milano yes
Peerless mill burned down like 20 years ago. Why would it be on the list? Lol
If you have never heard of these places or at least drove by some of them....you must not ever leave the house. 😂
I have lived in Dayton for 44 years as well. Even though I have not ate at all those restaurants. But I do know where they all are located and have been past them several times.
As a person from Dayton the only good places I could recommend don’t exist anymore. Everything else pales in comparison to those old places that are now gone.
My favorite restaurant is El Toro on Taco Tuesday of course :-) and I'm a Dayton Ohio youtuber !!!
Thanks for the watch Topwater Tony! We appreciate the input! We'll be sure to check out your channel and subscribe as well.
This guy has to be kidding, I still have family in Dayton and was just there Memorial Day weekend. EVERY restaurant we went to including Archers and Geez was lit like a Staples Store. Zero ambiance, disinterested staff (also overly familiar with dining guests) and a list of appetizers that are fried to death. And good luck getting a meal past 9pm unless BBQ wings and jalapeno poppers are your idea of "food". And STOP with that fake laugh!!
no Elsas? no Marions?
Thanks for watching plum! There are soooo many great restaurants we couldn't fit them all in. Both of those are certainly in our honorable mention ;)
Mikesells
Can't trust reviews on Dayton Foodie Site. Your not allowed to give an honest review. If you don't get good service or good food from somewhere and you share your experience you get kicked off the site. They will only allow you to post the good reviews.
Thanks for watching Jill Ginter! It's our pleasure, let us know if there's anything we can do to help in the future :)
Did you really say ". . . The Pinewood Club . . . ?"
Thanks for watching Susan Johnston! Hahaha...yeah, it's tough when you get on a roll recording these videos. I've been in the "Pine" club plenty of times, must have been thinking about some other delicious steak restaurant not around Dayton 😂
The Pinewood Club? Lol. Smh.
Sharks or jjs
THE BEST DAYTON ITALIAN JOINTS ARE MAMMA DISALVO'S AND DEROMA'S WITHOUT A DOUBT!!!!! DON'T FORGET NELLY'S AND SWEENEY'S SEAFOOD IN CENTERVILLE AS WELL.
Thanks for watching John Fischer! Thanks so much for the insight. Keep them coming! :)
I WANT TO NOW ADD LINH'S VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT TO THE MIX AS WELL.
Mama disalvos??????? Dts
@@paulcabrera8871 I THINK SO!!!!
Mamma Disalvo’s is the terrible Italian food, maybe years ago was good, but now 👎👎👎👎
You definitely have a lack of information and I'm a veteran myself but I'm a DAYTONIAN
Only critique is your intro is to long.
Amar India is the worst place in Dayton, and super expensive
Oh Yeah, this guy really knows his Dayton restaurants, calling The Pine Club the Pinewood Club. It has been the PINE CLUB since 1947. As soon as I heard that mistake I gave up on those videos. He's just reading a script, he probably couldn't even find the PINE CLUB! I'm gone.
Could you pointlessly chuckle a bit more?
U have no idea
Spaghetti Warehouse
Thanks for watching Jamie Huff! It's our pleasure, let us know if there's anything we can do to help in the future :)
That's a chain.
@@elbob17 I know they still have good food
@@jamiehuff6164 Spent quarter of century in Dayton (Air Force brought me there), & Spaghetti Warehouse always satisfied!! (be prepared to WAIT for table on wknds...)
Awful city
