just googled how much it would cost round trip driving from phoenix to Tucson and it estimated $22. Can someone verify that? The vehicle would be a 2014 BMW 228i base model. Also says a good stopping point would Casa Grande, AZ. Finally, if I had to do this commute daily, would that suck, realistically? Or not as bad as I'm thinking?
Braulio Torres You could do it but I don’t think it’s reasonable on a daily basis. Unless you are doing this for work to make ends meet I understand but wouldn’t advise it otherwise. I’ve made this trip by motorcycle but only for a fun ride.
I did it 3 times a week for the better part of 2 years. Ray Road in Chandler to Swan and Broadway in Tucson. It took me about an hour and a half and I got about 26 MPG @ 87 MPH. Driving my old 2012 Audi A8 with the naturally aspirated 4.2 liter V8 at the time. The best stop point is Picacho Peak. I moved to Chicago in January 2019 but I am moving back in a couple of weeks. Apparently the roadwork has been completed to expand it to three lanes at least to near the rest stop just south of Phoenix. I don’t believe they can expand it to three lanes from that point north to Wild Horse Casino because that’s all reservation land, or so I’ve been told. It’s not a bad ride, and it can be done daily, but the real pain is when rush-hour traffic makes everything back up. Just make sure you keep a full tank when you start. I’ve been stuck in traffic jams that lasted the better part of three hours without moving a single mile.
I googled the question of how far apart(mileage & time wise) from tucson to phoenix and your video came up. so please tell me how many hrs does it take to drive from one to the other?
Hahahaha I understand, was just joking. Thanks man, it brings me back to the good days I lived in Tucson. I will never forget the awesome concerts in Phoenix. Yes I am homesick while living in my home country. Not much wrong with The Netherlands, but it is flat and cold and politics are getting worse. But hey, you guys have something to deal with too.
Take i-10 to San Bernardino should take 5 hours then take the 15 up to barstow, that’ll put u at 6 hours and a half, then take i-40 from barstow to flagstaff, it’ll put you at 11 hours and a half then the scenic freeway finally is i-19 from flagstaff to phoenix, put you at 13 hours, and then i-10 from phoenix to tucson, it’ll put you at 15 hours
It would kind of cool if there was a high speed train between Tucson and Phoenix
We have lived in Phoenix for a few months but haven’t made the trip down to Tucson. Thanks for doing this!
My city is 2nd most overcast in the nation. Can't wait to move out to AZ

It would suck.
Hardly doubt it’s taking 22 dollars. A full tank will take you round trip

Adot needs to widen it to three lanes . Travel would be faster . Hopefully they consider this in the future
Jonathan Bebop Just finished this past year apparently. I remember when it was 2 lanes and I-10 didn’t go all the way through Phoenix
