- (this video does not show the actual moment of the bird hitting the plane) A previous aircraft has possibly hit a bird whilst landing or taking off. The Checker vehicle is sent out to try and find any debris that may be laying on the runway , in between that the British Airways 737 chooses not to land and does a go around until the runway is safer to land on. the next plane a 757 chooses to land knowing that there may be a dead bird on the runway , i guess for an aircraft landing it can still get sucked into the engine but with a lot less severity .
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen on youtube! It's very interesting, as it shows post-birdstrike ground procedures, has got ATC (you rarely get that in a normal vid) and is in HQ!
5 well earned stars!
Love how the wake from the 757 is captured at 1:40, know a 757 creates a lot of wake, but nice to actually 'see' it. Great vid :)
@757Lawrence There is no TCAS alarm that sounds like that. There are several auditory commands and advisories associated with TCAS like "Descend, Descend Now", "Climb, Climb Now", "Traffic, Traffic", "Clear of Conflict" and a few others which don't come to mind. The sound at 0:55 is the Autopilot being disengaged.
@gazzerhst engines are always running, and reverse is the same as forward thrust except the thrust is rerouted backwards; the engine does not turn backwards though
@sepi40 Thats not the the autopilot disengaged.. sounds like some kind of master caution... it could be an alarm for the speedbrake still beeing engaged... Boeing aircrafts frequently alarms the pilots about that.. and the alarm sound is exactly like that for the speedbrake warning...
Check out the distorted air from 1:40 onwards!!! Changes in heat/pressure causing that? Sort of like a very dynamic mirage effect.
you are on AWESOME cameraman dude!!!! well done
Nice video- not sure thompson landing in the carpet at all there.....probably should have been a go around for him too!
@paulnod Thanks, and witch one have you got????
@sepi40 no! sounds diferentt! that a altitude allert. ( I think )
@Mappzor what does that mean exactly?
@sepi40 Wasn't the AP actually.

@AmdiaR its exactly at 0:57 :) it could be also the autothrottle i dont fly boeing just airbus :)
What is it with these Thomson 757s and Birdstrikes.
@sepi40 isnt that a tcas alarm at 0:55 ?
Epic landing by the Thompson :D
@sepi40 No, I think it's the inner marker. Autopilot disconnecting is whoop-whoop-whoop.
@donconco Read the information before watching the clip next time!!
nicely handled =]
@sepi40 LOL I heard it too :)
Why is it that tomson only gets bird strikes? Juts like the famous Mayday 263H! :D
nice atc go around!
m i the only one who don`t see the actual bird strike :?

Is that considered a rusty landing?
