      Through all that was going on between Roger and David!! (in particular, they created magic at Miraval). Dark Side was all done at Abbey Road on the TG12345 transistor desk. Honestly? If we are going to save the music people are listening to, we must get back to the perfection of these works, both instrumentally, vocally and at the console for the mix. We must always treat our mixes as art.

    Andrew is such a wonderful person, sharing and giving and helping us all to keep making the mix into art (the theme of my studio). This is such a beautiful hybrid studio. There is still something magical and inspiring in a studio - I believe that there will always be a need for full studios. Like Andrew, I grew up all analog, there was no digital. I remember the first time we brought Pro-Tools into the studio- it was a sea change but everything went through our big Neve console and out to the massive 24 track Studer A-800's. I'm still very analog, but I hope I have been able to integrate the digital domain into my analog world. I too have to be able to push faders have VCA's and have pan knobs - so I have an SSL Nucleus control surface, which I love. I do have to say, that bouncing and doing takes is much easier in the digital world (we used to punch and edit tape with a razor blade and scotch tape). I'm still using Pro-Tools after all of these years, even though my signal chain is as analog as I can make it. The difference now rather than the "old days" is that now I depend on Pro Tools. Thank you Avid. 🎶

    • @JmoneyProd
      @JmoneyProd 11 месяцев назад +1

      I would, but I agree with your comment, a lot of ppl don’t have the same depth of love for music and production, so a lot of the time they barely wanna get ok sounding monitors and preamps. They just wanna have convenience to do everything either super low cost or free. I’d get a big studio build front ground up like this if I had the money for it, but I think it’s possible as I always invest into my craft.

    • @robertl.6919
      @robertl.6919 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@JmoneyProd It’s not about love of music or production. You will find more « dedicated » musicians and producers in crappy studios
      fighting their way thru and overcoming the lack of resources. What you are talking about is the love of « the hype of the process » which has nothing to do with the final results of a creative production. As a reminder, The Police, U2, The Stones, Eurythmics, and all the early Motown productions were recorded in low end studios in their beginnings and gave us probably their best songs.

    • @briancannon1704
      @briancannon1704 5 месяцев назад

      Here’s some perspective; just because they’re in an over the top studio doesn’t mean they didn’t work their way into this scenario. It’s just a different approach. No one needs to be better than the other. Lotta room in the world of music production.

    This is an amazing project, shout out to Brad! But woah. Let's call the *VIBE POLICE* and get you guys some help asap! Beautiful room and beautiful control room but uhmmm why wouldn't you uhh put down some vintage rugs in the control room? (I hear the vibe siren, worry not soldiers of sound, VIBE POLICE are on their way!) I'm sure there are a ton of amazing spots in that region to find furnishings for the place; beautiful rugs, artwork, paintings, furniture etc. How is anyone supposed to plum the depths of their human experience and bolt that through the radical power of sound when they're worried about spilling a rosé on the porcelain white couch. (Tyler Durden, please help these people!!) For the love of all that is sacred in music, please throw away the furniture and rug set that you bought from IKEA in the live room, these furnishings are giving "stacy just wrapped up grad school and is starting her first job at the law firm next week" apartment set. The whole time you talk about the history, and you spent all this money on amazing vintage gear - but think about all your favorite artists - coltrane, jimi, prince, etc etc - you think they'd be able open up the skies and let the universe pour through them and into a microphone in this environment?
    people, come on, we can do better than this
    I'll give you a citation this time, but if the VIBE POLICE come back in 6 weeks and you aren't well on your way to making this into a VIBEY MECCA OF MUSIC filled with furnishings that reflect the depths of purity, beauty, history, and truth, we will be back !!

    I'm far from a traditionalist and am all for new tech, but I do worry that AI will make all this obselete and with a far worse end result. We can all scream how it's going to only ever be a tool to enhance but that just isn't how it always plays out. I just hope these studios and the true art of making real music, or "old" music as it might be known soon, stays well in touch.

I mean yeah could be nice to have a 5.2 sound sytem but trully only people with money can do it, and they tend to not listen to music, cuz they are bussy on their bussines. This for me is more a bussines for dolby rather than a real market.

    It’s cool, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t know if it’s conducive to creativity.
    I know these producers can certainly get a good performance out of professionals being sent here by a record company, who likely is only loaning the band money and they’ll spend the next 20 years working off a 6 album deal, but truly great things don’t come from a clinical setting like this.
    Google “manshun LCD soundsystem”
    Then google “Einstein’s office”
