I found this by searching for a 'how-to' on doing this for someone who wanted to know how I do it for some of my hand tools.
This is perfect, rather than trying to explain it over the phone, and it is exactly how I learned to do this about 50 years ago when I was playing ice hockey.
I use it often on tool handles - axes, wood splitters, demolition bars, etc. - and get asked quite often how to do it by people who have never played hockey.
