- In the final installment of this three-part series, I talk about reasons 5, 6, and 7 why food is the toughest addiction to quit. It all has to do with the environment in which we live and the societal acceptability of eating addictively. Watch this week’s vlog to discover the final three reasons and to learn what they mean for you as you strive to have (and maintain!) your Bright Transformation.

I agree ! Here in Europe Alcool is still going pretty strong, and we stand out (for the ones that do not use anymore) ….
Warm greetings ❤
Hey, Dr. Thompson! Just found your channel/vlog. Thank you for all of this great info. I acknowledge that I struggle with sugar addiction, but my main issue is finding food to eat in general. I think it's a combination of ADHD, c-PTSD and my personality style. I'm focusing on a task and when meal time comes around, I want something that takes minimal effort, is the least distracting to what I'm currently doing and is tried and true that I can eat literally every day. This means that most of my meals are bars, take out or cereal. My efforts to cook fail 99% of the time because it's all so overwhelming and time is limited. I haven't yet found many resources that address the issues I deal with, but your videos help explain some of the brain wiring. I don't need weight loss, but I hope watching your videos will help me rewire some of the faulty circuits.
Correct. There is no auto pilot = no automicity with food. You must think about food every day, plan food every day, grocery shop at regular intervals, participate in social gatherings. You can develop a routine for your average day. Most of us find that breakfast is easiest to manage, but the rest of the day is more challenging because we need to consider more things. So, there is no automicity. There is developing habits, both physical and mental. That's the goal. As someone who's been doing BLE for 5 years and in maintenance for 3.5 years, I say it really is never easy. It is a challenge always and for the reasons SPT lays out here. So, develop those habits. They are our lifeline.
she's so right!!!!
When I was in South East Asia, I Iost ten kilos with very little effort. When I came home, I was shocked by how I was sorounded by food-adverts. I think I counted, there were 30 from my home to my work. I gained all of the kilos plus plus.
it's also the availability of food. It's just everywhere...
Am I missing something here? I don't really care about drugs, alcohol, etc. Helpful hints would be great, more focus on the food thing. Just saying
Take what your want and leave the rest 🥰
In this series Susan is addressing the “Why” concerning food addiction being harder than other substances. Giving “helpful hints” isn’t really within the over arching theme of “Why” in this series. That would be another conversation entirely which she covers in so many other vlogs.
