  • This is our installation video for the Ultimate Armrest, part number G2NMI4016BLK. (new.minimania.com/part/G2NMI4...) and NMI4016/BLK (new.minimania.com/part/NMI401...)
    This comfortable Armrest from Italy is easy to install, works great, and looks like it belongs in your MINI. It is easily attached to the center console while still offering easy access to the handbrake. (For MINIs without the factory Armrest.)
    Retractable pad with a storage compartment beneath, and a retractable cup holder. The entire armrest assembly can be 'flipped up' out of the way when not in use.
    This armrest works even with the seat in the maximum forward position! Simply slide the armpad in the 'open' position to extend its reach.
    Fits the following models without the factory armrest:
    2007-2013 R56 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Hardtop
    2008-2014 R55 Cooper and Cooper S Clubman
    2009-2015 R57 Cooper and Cooper S Convertibles
    2012-2015 R58 Cooper and Cooper S Coupe
    2012-2015 R59 Cooper and Cooper S Roadster
    Black Italian Leather pad with Black base.
    Install Level: MODERATE
    Tools required: PHILIPS SCREWDRIVER
    Installation is simple: The armrest bracket mounts into the rear cup holder with three screws. The storage compartment's padded bottom surface rests on the center console supporting any weight applied to the armrest. The design allows for easy access to the emergency brake handle.
    Part numbers: G2NMI4016BLK and NMI4016/BLK (Gen 1 models).

    Transcript:
    Hi gang, it's Brendan MacRae from Mini Mania and today we're going to do an installation video of our Ultimate Armrest for your Gen 2 MINI (G2NMI4016BLK). We also have these available for your Gen 1 (NMI4016-BLK) and Gen 3 MINI (G3NMI4016).
    It's a long part number, but if you do a search on our website for Ultimate Armrest at minimania.com, it'll pull up and then you just match it up for the year of your car. We'll show you how to put this into your car right now.
    OK- this is the un-modified Rear Cup Holder that's right behind where your Emergency Brake is, this is your Emergency Brake Boot, and this is basically the orientation of the Ultimate Armrest.
    You can see that this Rear Cup Holder is going to replace the one that you have here and it gets secured with these 3 Screws, the smaller of the 3 is the one that goes towards the rear and the two longer Screws go in the front. You don't need to pre-drill any holes, as these are Self Taping Screws. You're only going through a thin bit of material at the bottom of the Factory cup Holder, so there's no reason to either use an Awl or to pre-drill a hole for these Screws. Just make sure that you've got it centered. Start with the rear Screw-that way once you get this one going and you start to get it fairly tight, then it will allow you to move the orientation of it in this direction left to right so that you can get it centered before you start to sink your other two Screws, which go in front here.
    Don't be tempted to over tighten these. You're just going through some plastic here. Once you get him cinched tight that should be good enough. I wouldn't use a Screw Gun or an Electric Screwdriver with these I'd strictly do it by hand.
    You'll notice that, your Armrest, will pivot up out of the way-either when you're setting your Emergency Brake or when you do not need it. Of course you can also slide it forward to give you more access between the Seats and will put the Front Seats back we'll show you how that works and you can also slide your second Cup Holder, that it provides you with, out of the way if you don't need it and you can have a little storage space, which is provided by this really cool Armrest as well.
    The last step-you're provided with a little felt disc, peel and stick, so you can cover the tops your Screw heads-gives a nice complete finish. OK, all you need to do is fold your Armrest down, and you can either have it in this position or you can slide it forward. It provides a lot of support, which is great for those really long drives.

    If you're replacing the OEM armrest on the R53, do you have to use the delete kit with this?

  • @fysiologik
    @fysiologik 9 лет назад +2

    Looks more purposeful than the OEM one that is far more expensive. Seeing how the screw are just to secure it and not load bearing it makes sense seeing it. Ill be ordering one soon.

    I bought this Ultimate Armrest for my 2012 Cooper S R56. I had it shipped down to India where I live. I received it last week and installed it today. It fits like a dream and is just so phenomenally useful when one is driving. Especially in an Auto Transmission vehicle like mine is. Very comfortable to drive while resting the left arm. (India uses Right Hand Drive like the UK.)

    I have just ordered this ultimate armrest from you at Mini Mania. I can’t wait to get it. I’m sure it is going to help me rest my left arm when driving longer distances. Out here in India we have right hand drive cars, hence I need to rest my left arm.
    This ultimate armrest is clearly so much better and significantly less expensive than the OEM one from BMW.

    Looks very effective and easy to fit, but why oh why have you ditched the chrome ring? It's supposed to be an upgrade, and the cup holder looks worse. It seemed more shallow too, though do like the overall product, especially with hidden storage and extra (chrome ring!) cup holder.

    • @diamante4life01
      @diamante4life01 4 года назад +1

      Most people dont like any chrome in their mini... hence one of the most sold items in mini sites is trim blackouts. Chrome makes a car look like it's made for senior citizens and definitely no longer represents premium specially in mini coopers as minis ditch more and more chrome the more expensive they get

    I bought this for my 2015 F55s and can't get the screws to drive into the plastic. I am tempted to try my cordless drill, but scared i'm going to drive the screws too far in. Is this a known difficulty with the 2015 models or am I just doing something wrong? I have put all my weight into trying to drive the screw in and it's not tapping.

    Hello, I was given an R53 for free 2 weeks ago, but it will not start. We've changed, starter, battery, alternator, fuel filter, plugs, coil pack, and checked all fuses. Can't get it to crank, my friend says it could be the crank sensor. Any advise would greatly appreciated. Btw we also check the clutch sensor, seems to be ok. Thank you.

    • @minimania
      @minimania  7 лет назад

      Well, if it's the crank sensor it should give you the code for that (P0340) - do you have an OBDII reader? before proceeding any further I would get one and see what codes the car is throwing.

    • @5FiveSpice
      @5FiveSpice 7 лет назад

      Mini Mania we had 2 sensors (just to make sure) both didn't register any codes.

    • @minimania
      @minimania  7 лет назад

      You need to verify that the starter is getting power. I would also check to see if you can manually turn the engine - are you sure it isn't seized?

    • @5FiveSpice
      @5FiveSpice 7 лет назад +1

      Yes, the starter has power going to it. Not 100 percent about the engine, it sounded like it's trying to turn over but couldn't. I will investigate further...thanks so much for your assistance.

    The factory armrests are $375. These armrests are $199, are more functional and practical that the factory armrests and are made with fine leather in Italy.
    I would say these are a bargain. They are a huge seller for us. If you think $199 is expensive, find something cheaper but just remember you get what you pay for!
