Wow we do 2 tarps also. That works for late fall early winter camping as well to keep you heat in. But we do just in case of heavy rain. Smart tip to give.😎⛺️
Been using a window air conditioner for years in my two door tent. Put the air conditioner in one of the doors and zip it as much as possible, only have to use a few wash clothes to seal it. Seems to have a better fit than in your video. I put the air conditioner on top of a wooden rectangle 2 by 4 box that matches the height of the door threshold. You should show a link to the tent as tents made for ac units are few and far between. Over all good video that could get people out camping more in hot weather.
Wife found this little collapsable stool at the Dollar General that is perfect for our Window Unit. It quite literally fills the entire window with no gaps. Another suggestion would be to use moving blankets from Harbor Frieght if you are sure its not going to rain instead of the 2nd tarp. Much heavier, so it keeps the cool air trapped in much better. We took a trip when it only dropped into the mid 80s at night, and it still got to 65 and shut off our window unit.
I saw your first video as well, thus is great thank you for taking the time to make these videos and instructions. I saw a video where the guy cut material similar to the temt material in the shape of the mesh on the top with velcro to give more of a airtight seal.
Cool video i had no idea there were tents with a ac window like that. I prefer the cooler weather camping but like all season camping in general I have the all mesh tent for summer camps but if thers is rain in the forecast obviously have put the outter cover over it but have been looking at different ways on RUclips here add some kinda of cooling systems for my tents. Happy Trails Brotha
Thanks for the video, This is the best set up because a window unit is way cheaper than those portable AC units that do not work very well and also you can take a inverter type generator that is very quiet. You did a great job figuring out everything I am going to do this very same thing for me and my wife when we go camping Thanks to you. We did the RV thing and looking at lake lots etc, But it is way too expensive for a RV plus insurance and also lake lot property taxes. your way is the best way and you have more freedom to go where ever you want in the country.
Omg I was just there in May! The deer flies were killing us (my daughters and I) and the heat was horrendous (I’m from miami so I’m used to heat but it was hotter than anticipated!!) I’m gonna try again with a window ac unit and I’ve been thinking of how to do finagle it… thank you for this video! So glad I came across it!
I love camping, but I have a condition that causes heat intolerance. I bring one portable for my 12 man tent and it is quite comfortable. I went to the mountains above where I live last week and it was 95°f outside during the day. I didn't need the AC at night, but it helped during the day.
@@enrique-uz8qx Yes I purchased the tent at Walmart . It’s called the Instant Cabin Tent with LED light. They have different sizes for 4 person and 6 person
Pretty cool setup, I enjoyed watching you build everything up and troubleshoot the vents not being lined up. I may have missed it, but did you mention the extension cord you use? I recommend a 12-gauge cable to avoid melting the extension cord. I speak from experience on that, nothing scarier than the fear of the extension cord catching on fire with my whole family in the tent.
Thanks for watching ! I’m really not sure of the exact type of extension cord. However this is something I should probably look into for the exact reason you mentioned . Never thought of that situation but I definitely want to avoid it lol..thanks again!
Cool fact: did you know that if you try using the portable air condition in a white tent for the summer days instead of any other colour tent then it will cool down much faster and the cooler air from inside the tent will last longer because having white tents reflects the sunlight heat to keep the sunlight heat from entering in the tent. Try searching up why white keeps you colder and you will see 👍. Try making a video to attempt having a white tarp added on top of your tent so you can see that it is doing the job of reflecting sunlight and for it to bring a extra installation for the inside and then for real try using the portable air conditioner this time 👍. Great video 😀 love it.
I bought a portable air conditioner that you carry into wherever your want to use it. It's self draining somehow and it made a huge difference. It was extremely heavy to me by you're a guy so it wouldn't bother you at all. It's just a matter of making room in your vehicle for it.
I meant to ask you, do you know approximately what size ac window the tent has or what are the measurements of the front of your ac unit? Thx in advance.
The front of the AC unit measures about 16” width x 11” height. The mesh AC window vent on the tent is larger in dimensions than the front of the AC unit. There is about a good inch or two of extra space
Is your tent the 6 person? I have the Ozark trail 4 person for car camping/storage and I have the 10 person with the screen room. I'm interested in the 6 person because its smaller and has the AC vent.
Hi, check out the Powersmart Inverter Generator they come in different sizes and their prices right now are marked as much as 30 percent off. CR has them listed ranked as #2 & 3 powered inverter Generators. @@WhereisHammer thank you, sometimes I would dread going camping due to the really hot and humid south Texas weather we have but having an a/c will really be a game changer.

It’s better to place the footprint underneath the tent. This helps to protect the bottom fabric of the tent from rocks and sticks that could puncture or tear the tent by adding that extra protective fabric layer. It also helps prevent water seeping into the tent from any puddles caused by rain under the tent. Hope this helps!
You have the set-up all wrong. Air conditioners don't make cold air. They absorb the warm are from the space to be conditioned. The unit has to be inside the tent not outside. Warm air gets blown out through the screen. Ever notice when a household central air conditioner is on and you put your hand over it it feels warm.that's the heat being removed from inside of the house.
@@GregoryDomaradzki-r7i haven’t tried it inside the tent yet, but it’s worked great for me having it outside the tent. Kept the inside nice and cold. Plus I don’t think I’d want to have the dripping wet AC unit inside the tent with condensation
Gregory, that doesn't make sense. I understand what your saying, but these window units are outside when you install them in your home. The only inside part are the vents where the air blows out. As long as he has the vents blowing in, he's correct.
