  • Welcome to AtwoodsHistory!
My channel is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich local history of the places where I grew up or visited during my early years. These videos primarily focus on Boyne City, Charlevoix, and Petoskey, Michigan, where I spent significant parts of my childhood, with additional content from East Jordan and Harbor Springs. A separate subject of history related to celebrities high school years are published on this channel, too.
    Why I Create These Videos:
I noticed many years ago that people are often fascinated by their personal memories and childhood photos. To cater to this interest, I have meticulously researched and compiled these videos to offer a nostalgic glimpse into the past. The majority of my videos cover the years between 1956 and 1980, but you'll find content from both earlier and later periods as well.
    Research and Quality Enhancement:
To ensure the best possible quality, I source my photos from various places, including:
    Museums
    Personal collections
    Yearbooks
Local newspapers like the Petoskey News Review
Many of these sources had poor-quality images, so I use artificial intelligence photo software to improve their clarity.
    Chronological and Thematic Organization:
I aim to present the history in a structured manner, often organizing videos by narrow time frames such as specific months or seasons, rather than entire years. This approach helps to provide a detailed and immersive experience.
    Music and Soundtrack:
Music plays a crucial role in setting the mood and enhancing the viewing experience. I research the music history of the periods covered and use tracks from my MP3 personal library whenever possible. If I don't already own a track, I purchase it from Amazon. For celebrity-related videos, I either use a popular song by the celebrity or a non-copyrighted music selection that is free to use.
    Positive Community and Feedback:
The response to my videos has been overwhelmingly positive, with many viewers sharing their own memories and appreciation for the content. However, I understand that not everyone may connect with the material, and I occasionally receive negative comments. Nonetheless, my goal is to provide enjoyable and informative videos for those who cherish these historical glimpses into our hometowns and past.
