The best dialogue I remember was: Protag: Don't you have a bunch of voices in your head telling you different things? Kim: No...? Conceptualization: His conceptualization must not be very high...
In defense of harry, what he actually says is more like “don’t you Ever talk to yourself sometimes” which is a much more reasonable thing to expect from a person lol
I love this game, it’s just unforgiving. It has no quest markers, no map. Nothing. But I love when Kim chimes in with a “WTF ARE YOU DOING” moment. It’s so funny
without saying much, after a latest tragic incident, I sobered up in November. A few tears may have rolled down my eyes during the initial couple of hours of this game.
55:08 "Kim is godlike, your savior" glad to see this get mentioned in an analysis video. The deification of characters Harry loves (let's face it, he loves Kim. a lot) is such an extremely important theme in the game.
This was the game I played when my second child was born. I would let her sleep on my chest those first few weeks of her life, this is the game that kept me awake to make sure she was alright. This will always be a top five game for me. Thanks for the retrospective.
Return to It (I don't wish you that) not when you're at your high, but when you're at your low. That's when this game can fully accomplish ts purpose and resonates

I resent the implication that you haven't played the game three times over already, listened to the soundtrack until your speakers gave out and then stood in the rain contemplating your existence. Go on, do the thing
This is the best written game I've ever played. Also a correction: from my understanding, time only passes when your are talking. Walking or standing around doesn't pass time.

Ohh shit son. That's tight af. This game brought me a great many laughs, and a great many tears as well. Top 5 no doubt. You're growing into a fine man, kiddo.
I love the creepy spider man in the old church. The game does a good job of being mostly grounded in a believable reality while rarely sprinkling in supernatural elements.
I am so thankful for playing this game. Its made a massve impact on how I view story games these days and the themes in them. And Im so glad you brought up that this game is like a litmus test for the player. In the choices, political affiliations, skills, etc. Ive gotten multiple friends to play it and it still causes discussions and arguments about the world. I think ive played through it about 5 times. Cant wait for another
Great video. I feel like I resonate with Shivers the most. My first run was truly revelatory - I was finally able to describe the feeling I got during my midnight strolls in the post communist, post industrial city I live in now (and the one I grew up in and eventually left). It was Shivers, my subconscious, physical connection with the city
Just last night I found myself thinking - boy, I can't wait for YourFavouriteSon to upload again, and here we are! And with a retrospective of one of my favourite games of recent times no less!
Thank you for that Video. This Game is my absolute favourit. It has so much brilliant writing in it. So much crazy, funny and sad moments. Every true roleplayer needs to try this, at least. Thank you again for your effort.
son, you and this video look so great. loving the consistent upgrades in quality and (of course) what you have to say about one of my favorite games ever
Possibly the best game made story-wise in a very long time. I loved the game the entire way, it was so good. The gameplay was fun, and the dialogue was so interesting that I never got tired of it. There is so much in the game to learn and be interested in.
A fine video for a great game, son. I don't think I've played a game that left me thinking and feeling as much in many years. Truly a magnificent title, which blends absurdity and despair together in a way that I've never seen before. I'm not one for hype, but to say that I will be very interested in their next game is a given.
Hey Son, great video as always. I remember finding and playing this during a dark rut, and while the story of Harrier Du Bois is soul crushing it was also wonderful being able to honestly try to get his life together, even if what we can do as him would only be the first steps towards that happier life for him. Keep up the great work!
To see you making a video of one of the best games ever after watching and re-watching your Legacy of Kain video - which genuinely got me interested in the game series - brings joy to my heart, Son.
Something I would love for you to cover in the future is a game that it's just like one. A top down, turn based, RPGs that I absolutely hate... But one game in the 37 years of my existence has made me love them and that's wasteland 3.
I’ve listened to a handful of long form retrospectives on this game after completing it myself and I can easily say that this is the best, most comprehensive video. Good job, son. - dad
I just subbed to you yesterday and you hit me with a longform vid about one of my favorite games of 2021? Nice timing. This was such a good game. Probably one of the first I replayed immediately after because of the alternate routes you could take. Reminded me of those choose your own adventure books I read as a kid.
Would love to see you make a series of videos on the Dishonored games. But honestly your content is great whatever game you choose to tell us about. You are indeed my favorite son
Have just finished my third walkthrough of this game overall and the first one of the extended cut. Really happy to see you reviewing this masterpiece, son, keep up the good work!
I had seen this game before and heard amazing things but didn't think it was for me, so I kept watching past the spoiler warning. Not long past that, you convinced me, I want to give it a try for myself so thank you for that. Your commentaries are so insightful and you really have a way with describing the world and lore of every game you play.
A little bit of extra information about the Pale, for those who are curious: Although most people believe that the Pale couldn't be traversed before the invention of pale latitude compressors, there were people, doing it, by land. The boiaderos (cowboys) were one of those who knew how to do it. The equivalent of Ancient Greeks (I can't remember the name given to them in the game) knew how to navigate it as well. It's also described as an accumulation of memories and events.
Man, I haven't seen your review yet, but I was never able to describe the genius of this game. I'm not into art, I don't feel anything watching a painting or a statue, but playing this game I was feeling the touch of art so deep I was flabbergasted. Masterpiece, can't pick another word Update: I've watched a bit, the first "oh, I get it now" moment was when you've said it was an art group who created this game, the second - when you've said about Russian books(I am a Russian, so this may be a reason why the themes of this game were so close to me) Update 2: Cuno is pure gold period
Cuno doesn't fucking care, but me and my friends are pleasantly surprised to see this upload. Disco Elysium found me at a time when I was in a spiral similar to Harry's and it changed my life.
Gosh darn it son. I was trying to wait until I got back to work to listen to this... but.. I just HAD to watch this one. Definitely a top 5 crpg and wish there were more like it. Proud of you for this video. Bye kiddo make today a good one.
This was really really good! I've heard great things about Disco Elysium for a long time now, and this laid everything out, especially the worldbuilding and lore, in a very easy to understand way. Thanks, Son!
Makes me mad that developers got screwed over. Really ironic, considering that they were critiquing capitalism, and then the big company to took over their work.

So....uh... When I found this video this morning, because it got buried with all of the other videos that arrive while I'm at work on Sunday....I squealed. I haven't played the game myself(poor guy with a terrible computer), but I've watched enough content on how amazing the game is that I know that I will love it, even with being spoiled, because the gameplay is never the same between runs, and I'm the type of guy who will do multiple playthroughs just to see what happens if I do/say different things...
I think the "beauty" of this Game is: It will never get a Second Game in that Spirit, because of the outfall of the Studio and his many Problems. But thats somewhat fitting for this Game...
excellent video for an excellent game, was great to hear your adventure, iirc I also became the sorry cop, I might've missed it but did you also do a sober run?
Wow youtube notifications are trash. I completely missed this upload. Disco Elysium is such a magnificent game. I actually discovered it last year when they released the director's cut with voice overs. It gives it so much more depth. I will enjoy watching this tonight, thank you son.
Great video! Incredibly fantastic game! One of the best RPG's I've ever played with the best dialogue tree I've ever played. I totally missed the whole lore behind the church anomaly on my 1st playthrough but it's the most fascinating part of the game IMO. Make sure you don't miss it!
I really appreciate all your videos. This one was particularly wonderful and this game deserved a spotlight, it was really nice to see. Amazing work, keep it up!
I put off finishing it for so long, I’ve had this video in my watch later for over a year and I finally have finished the game. my god. I can finally fall asleep to this
May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the son shine warm upon your place, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Not gonna watch the video because I'm going through the game and don't want spoilers, still left a like 💓 To anyone on the fence about it, buy it. If you like amazing writing, great characters and a beautiful art style, go for it. Even if it doesn't look like your type of game, try it!
Not a big important thing, but felt compelled to correct something small: Roy did not clean up piles of bodies after the revolution. The "pile" he talks about having cleaned up was the aftermath of a failed nuclear reactor, which is why he takes a radiation sickness drug with psychedelic side effects.
Key members of the Disco Elysium development team, including lead designer Robert Kurvitz, have reportedly left ZA/UM. The fate of the franchise is very unclear now.
Love me some Disco Elysium vid (yes, I'm rewatching, I like to do it for my fav titles). I have one nitpick though, YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED DISCO ELYSIUM if you didn't start with at least 4 Inland Empire to make your necktie talk as a second companion and to easily talk with the dead body in our IMAGINATION! I mean, really, the most weird, obscure and ominous lore and investigation facts are uncovered by Psyche skills + high Shivers, you learn a lot of things that you shouldn't know. For me the most canon Harry is a mentally ill, drugged out Harry with some Twin Peaks sprinkled in, and to make it happen it's the best to play with high Psyche and Physique, and sure, we can play Intellect + Motorics Sherlock type, but Harry that doesn't hear voices, doesn't believe in supranatural, and doesn't talk to his tie and the spirit of the city isn't REAL.
When you are describing the pysical world of Disco, I cant help but think of the One Piece world, with all its islands, and vast seas that contain hidden threats and creatures (Sea Kings and whatnot)
This game hits you differently if you are struggeling with an addiction. I felt so lost when I had to report that I lost my badge and my gun and the cops were laughing at me.
I got about 20 minutes into the video to the part where you realize the gun is missing and I bought the game. I've been on the fence for a while, but It seems so interesting and unique.
Just one note son, '€' is Euros; '£' is Pounds. Otherwise, I'm very proud of you. Disco Elysium is one of my very favourite games of recent years, narratively and conceptually. The only other games that make me feel anything similar to it are the Sunless Sea and Sunless Sky games by Failbetter Games. I am waiting with bated breath for their next game, Mask of the Rose, to be released next spring.
I burst out laughing at the part where u investigate the drug smuggler. There’s a dialogue option while smashing the window “FUCK THE POLICE” 🤣 I just about choked laughing

I got about 20 minutes into the video to the part where you realize the gun is missing and I bought the game. I've been on the fence for a while, but It seems so interesting and unique.
I’m so hyped for the next yakuza game
Just one note son, '€' is Euros; '£' is Pounds. Otherwise, I'm very proud of you.
Disco Elysium is one of my very favourite games of recent years, narratively and conceptually. The only other games that make me feel anything similar to it are the Sunless Sea and Sunless Sky games by Failbetter Games. I am waiting with bated breath for their next game, Mask of the Rose, to be released next spring.
Where’s Judgment, Son? I thought that was next after Like a Dragon? *sad dad noises*
Big brain move: mute video is alt tab and go play the game but you still get the view. THEN come back and watch it for real 😎
I won't ruin the ending, but it will have you like "wow this is why all of this started/happened"
I too painted "something beautiful is about to happen"
Will you do videos on Judgement and Lost Judgement?
Sunday
This makes me want to hear your thoughts on the shadowrunners games, just because of how narrative those games are
I burst out laughing at the part where u investigate the drug smuggler. There’s a dialogue option while smashing the window “FUCK THE POLICE” 🤣 I just about choked laughing
Great video!
My most favorite part of the game was helping ravers to start a nightclub.
