You are a life saver. Your first tip about the pointer speed is very useful as a new user would get frustrated trying to do any other stuff without a good speed. Did not find this on many other videos
One of the things I like to enable is the 3-Finger drag, in addition to the other trackpad options discussed. I rarely click and drat window folders around - I prefer to enable the feature under Settings -> Accessibility -> Mouse & Trackpad and then click “Trackpad Options...”. By Enable drawing, I prefer to use the “three finger drag”. My personal preference, which I enable on other people’s macs just so I can get my mojo back :).
I know I should customize my dock, but for some reason I always wanna keep everything as it was out of the box😂😂 I know it doesn’t make any sense, but I can’t help it😂😂😂
I'm sort of new to Mac and found this half-way useful :) Most of the stuff I figured out on my own. The biggest tip for me (which is not included in the video) was Option+clicking on the corner of a window to snap the edges to the screen without entering full screen mode. Thank you for the content.
Yasmine The Dreamer yep I got it! I love it so much! The only thing is it doesn’t run stuff like the sims without the fans going full blast so if you wanna play the sims on full settings expect a tiny bit of lag and the fans to run alot
XVI oh that’s good to know, but I only wanna use it for regular school stuff like writing essays and downloading lectures+downloading some apps. Do U think the 128gb Mac air is enough for that ?
so when I buy a new macbook and I have no idea what I'm doing, how trackpad works, how I get to the net, obv the first thing I have to learn is how to disable the shadow in the screenshots
Just bought my first MacBook, and I have no clue what is what, but this is very helpful thank you. Due to lockdown I expect it to arrive in about ~2-3 years...
I'm switching from HP to Macbook and I found this confusing at times. I know you said this is for people who are just starting out, but like I don't know what mission control is opposed to the side bar etc. Maybe just go into sliiightly more detail in the future? I did find some of these tips super helpful and I will definitely be using them!!
A little tip; the screenshot staying on the screen for a little bit can be very useful, because you can drag and drop directly into applications. Personally I use it on Discord a lot, and it has proved to be very useful, to me at least.
about capturing picture, there are some more tricks, to avoid the shadow, just hold option button before click the mouse.. And hold control before capture picture it will not show on the desktop but in your clipboard.
One of the first things i do is enable hot corners and setup 4 fingers scroll up down to easily navigate between open apps and multiple instances of an app.
Great tips, great video. Just picked up a 2017 MacBook Pro Retina. These tips helped a ton. And so far its been great, super fast and reliable and honestly the butterfly keyboard has given me no issues!

So excited I can use the same terminal language I'm used to. (I just can't do PC)
I usually prefer Windows over MacOS due to my work nature. However, these small things in MacOS really makes me love Apple even more. Great video Jeff!
Been using a Mac since 2007 and there are SEVERAL things I learned from this video! A little surprised you didn't go over gestures. Oh and "natural" scrolling is evil.

enabling the tab control can wreak havoc though on apps that use the tab key, e.g. a lot of design apps use the tab key and space bar - with the tab selection enabled, the space bar gets taken over 'left click' or 'select' for whatever is highlighted with the tab - which you cannot turn off, so the spacebar gets hijacked inadvertently.
Hi, I bought an IPhone 11 in Malaysia and set it up with Hong Kong (HK) address, each time I want to change it back to the UK App Store, it won’t let me use the apps so I have to change it back. If I buy a MacBook Pro and it synchronizes with my phone will my MacBook automatically jump onto the HK App Store ? Thanks
How do you download movies on the mac? I have trying to find a good video that explains it & explains it correctly & I can't find one. If you could help me I would really appreciate it.
I always like showing remote connect disks and servers on the desktop in Finder’s Preferences->Advanced lane and enable that! So if someone tries to connect I see it on my desktop!
Cool Video, I’m wondering why I haven’t come across this video before - considering these are pretty darn powerful, even though they appear to be targeted to the macOS newcomer... Awesome.
For years I have enjoyed watching these videos when I didn't have a Mac. Now that I got one a month ago I enjoy them even more.
Same except mine is coming this week! I feel so prepared and ready to use it
Mine was just today. Lel

I have Catalina on virtualbox

I mean it think it implies new to mac os not new to computers. CMD, and Terminal emulators are in pretty much every operating system

Good tip. I *never* want a drop shadow, but for those that do this is a good suggestion.
@@9to5Mac Hi I tried to put the syntax in the terminal but why shadows still appear?
very helpful, thank you!
I never use the minimize button. CMD+H works a lot better, or better yet, leave all windows open and use Mission Control.
I put most windows full screen and browse through them
enable three finger dragging and enable tap to click for the track pad ... three finger drag is a must in my opinion
This is an amazing tip!!!!!
Been using Mac os since 2006. And yet I'm here. MACS are love♥️
