I deleted all social media apps (except for RUclips if that counts) because it was distracting me from my schoolwork too much. Now that the semester is over, I have no desire to redownload the apps. I feel so much more free and confident in myself without them.

I've been battling anorexia since I was 14 ( now 36 ) and honestly- you've been so real and helpful throughout my journey whether it be bits of advice I pick up or food inspiration.. being able to eat fats and sugar again without my world crumbling down. I've been vegan for 13 years, and I'd watch with my kids your what I eat in day with your nephew.. just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being yourself, relatable, and honest. It helps :)

A couple years ago, I went to the Aquarium with my friend and I saw a tiny kid, maybe 2-3yo, looking at a small fish behind the glass and then trying to zoom in on it with its fingers to make it bigger. I stared in disbelief. The dad saw me and immediatly stopped his kid, super embarrassed about the whole thing.
Same year I saw a video of a kid saying "like and subscribe" instead of "good night" as it was being tucked into bed by its parents. After those two encounters I lost all hope for the next generation. The sheer amount of time they must be spending behind screens, probably mostly unsupervised, is just heart breaking. It's sad to see that seem to have very similar experiences ...

Miles, in addition to being funny as heck, you always bring substance to your channel, which I very much appreciate.
Although I am probably older than your parents, I find the world of on-line influencer's to be a collection of educational programming vs. poorly written trashy novels. It's up to the consumer to take time to figure out what it is that they're consuming. Sadly, when it comes to children, they need guidance, but it's not necessarily available for all of them, which is a huge issue.

Srsly such an important discussion to raise! Notice too how the influencers with the shallow/useless content grow audiences that are more hateful towards them, are ruder, argue in comment sections etc etc ... and then the creator wonders why

Thank you very much for this video! I've been following you for quit a while because I like your honesty and because you don't hold back from sharing your truth about critical things in our society. I follow people who have courage and backbone and don't let themselves be bought. The world is so twisted and people don't understand that most just follow pop culture and have no opinion of their own. But what kind of world is that supposed to create? It's those who tell their truth and are attacked for it that we should listen to more, because they have added value. Thank you! Your videos have really influenced me to find my joy in food and health again!

The ones I look up to on RUclips are mostly Vegan : Dr Robert Morse, John Koller, Dan MCDonald, Markus Rothkranz and Cara Brothman, use to enjoy John Rose, Tanny Raw but she’s no longer on RUclips. I do not have any other apps other than RUclips and Telegram and mostly for topics that help me better myself and learn new things. Not for gossip or trendy things. I have the ability to critically think for my self and detect those that are not being authentic. You are right way to many think they can be someone’s guru and make quick money. I really appreciate what you said about how people seem more trustworthy because of more followers. I do a lot of yoga on RUclips and for some reason get irritated by the same one or two instructors being recommended EVERYWHERE by EVERYONE. Nothing against those instructors, but I feel like their viewers put them on a pedestal and forget that there are probably millions of other RUclips instructors with more creative flows and anatomical knowledge.

Going off of that, it makes me so mad when any sort of online fitness instructor makes claims about their exercises preventing injury or soothing pain (acute or chronic). It’s usually a clickbait title with a disclaimer in the video/description but it’s creepy that people think they have knowledge about the complexities of injuries and pain just because they’re healthy and fit and have a big following. I did everything right and still ended up with injuries that ended up as chronic pain by the time I was 21. I understand why people use clickbait but there’s a point where it’s irresponsible.

20:49 I’ve found that I really like RUclips longform content, especially authentic content about people sharing parts of their lives. But I absolutely refuse to follow “influencers “ on Instagram. I use Instagram to watch funny cat videos and that’s literally it. I think it’s very easy to find so many problems with influencers and with social media in general if you follow influencers and consume content that doesn’t add value to your life and make you feel more inspired or fulfilled. so people just need to hit the Unfollow button and be careful with their feed. It’s literally that simple. people just aren’t so careful and then they fall victim to people who take advantage of them for whatever reason.

Good points. It's really a craze nowadays and all about algorithms if you ever want to be noticed, the social platforms are catering towards quantity not the quality, which is truly sad. Even those who want to start out with authenticity in mind might give up very soon if they don't gain as many followers. And for many it's quite a difficult concept to accept that the number of followers doesn't really mean all that much…

These coaches are like a pyramid scheme. They costs a fortune and promise you after their coaching you will make a fortune. And if it's not working with their normal business, they become a lifecoach too and promise other people to make a fortune if they pay them a fortune.
So oftentimes they become coaches because they weren't able to make their normal business sufficient and it's easier to be a coach, and sell hope, than work a normal real job. But they often are so brainwashed, they are not even having a bad conscience.

Eh... "looking up to" someone is really not my thing. We all have our own path, and assuming someone else knows how to balance another person's path, is quite bold, if you ask. At the end of the day, we should master ourselves - not somebody else. Sentences, thoughts, suggestions: we might cherry-pick what seems good for who we are and where we are, but that should be all. On another note, always a pleasure to find your honest updates 😊.

I do pass along things that I am told but keep telling people who've been contacting me lately regarding getting private readings, no. Plus, all of a sudden I'm getting contacted by a lot of people trying to get me to pay them to increase my viewership, and I just don't give a s***. If I only have one follower, that's totally fine. He isn't a terf, he's an honest and logical man, who cares about children's and women safety, and the truth- which is far better than what the cults are doing.

I know this sounds crazy, but actually don't want to be an influencer, I don't want attention, I just want a chill job, that pays well and helps me help others and make a difference. Being famous is a pain in the ass. I also don't understand how someone can just spend hundreds of dollars in a life coach or spiritual coach instead of an actual therapist who is trained, has experience and knows what they're doing. Really, people should get smarter about choosing their sources of advice. I'm a dietitian and I'm in that phase where I'm looking for my first job (and also considering a career change because finding a job in that where I live is very difficult). It makes me mad that now job recruiters want to see my social media, Instagram, etc. Well, this may sound crazy but my social media is actually anti-social media and it's private and for my family and friends only to look. Why does everyone think I should share my private life, image amd voice publicly? A lot of jobs now also want someone who posts online, who has a media presence and who can sell programs, diets and supplements quickly. This is maddening. It's not about providing a good service and quality care anymore. It's about attention getting and selling. People forget that people pay for quality, not for a tacky image. May everyone be free of this. I've been vegan for 9 years, your channel has been one of the few I keep coming back to. Thanks for your content!
