Important change to extravagant parry is that twin parry (lvl 2 feat) was combined into dueling parry, and you now get the stance at lvl 10 instead of 14. That opens up dual weapon fighting for swashbucklers, which used to be terrible.
Oh geez SEE? I KNEW there would be something I miss on Swashbucklers because I'm just not very familiar with them. I've never played one or built one. Thank you very much. I'm going to pin your comment because it is very clear and helpful.
Swashbucklers always felt like crap unless you were of a few prescribed builds to get your Panache. Now its just not annoying and allows a larger variety. Its just good all around. Bravado +1, Bravado fixes everything by making a failure still give panache until the end of your next turn so its never a suck or save moment and you can even plan a turn ahead on a fail meaning Bravado on a third action is totally viable in some situations even if you fail. Love the video Jake; keep it up!
I LOVED playin a swashbuckler in the APG rules. Panache was a bit of a pain to gain, and using tumble-through a lot seemed a bit gimmicky. So, these rules adjustments are very welcome.
Cool stuff. I see combining this as a dedication for a Magus now. Just that throwing trick with auto return and less range increment penalties is WORTH IT ... for many classes that would like to focus on throwing. A Rogue perhaps ... with the strong arm feat etc. So many possibilities ...
Retreating Finisher is deceptively good. If the target doesn’t have reach, they now have to burn an action to get to you. Can also be used for repositioning yourself to set up flanks
I love the swashbuckler cause of the role play your fight to the extreme become the swordsmen in the princess bride style so I agree on how cool a lot of this is
Already spotted a typo/future errata. One action for "You're Next" (level 1 feat) makes no sense considering only Reactions and Free Actions have triggers.
My very first Swashbuckler was a Varisian Battledancer who dual wielded 2 battle fans. Tango was one of my inspirations for him (along with eastern European Cossack folk/sword dancing). There are a bunch of things in this video that caught my eye for him.
Hmm they get something that's really all about parrying and this is the book that is supposed to replace (for the most part) the APG. But these Swashbuckler feats have different names, so by their own statements dueling dance should still be valid. I guess I would use it until they say otherwise because of the different-name thing.
Seems intentional the Parry grants panache on a miss, but buckler only grants panache on a crit miss. Makes for interesting choice, more actions with buckler or nearly auto panache with parrying
No it definitely does not. Force Barrage doesn't require an attack roll of any kind and it doesn't have the "attack" trait. It's not even a strike. It also doesn't count as a ranged attack. Also, it doesn't work against spell attacks, even if it has a range listed. Here is an excerpt from the rules: Ranged attack rolls use Dexterity as their attribute modifier. Ranged attack roll result = d20 roll + Dexterity modifier + proficiency bonus + other bonuses + penalties As you see, a spell attack made at range isn't a "ranged attack" because "ranged attack" has a specific definition which doesn't include spell attack rolls.
@@WisdomCheck Aw dang it doesn't work against ranged spell attacks at all? That's a let down. Be great to switcheroo when a bad guy tries to toss a disintegrate or something my way.
Yes! Vivacious Speed 3rd When you’ve made an impression, you move even faster than normal, darting about the battlefield with incredible speed. Increase the status bonus to your Speeds from stylish combatant to a +10-foot status bonus; this bonus increases by 5 feet at 7th, 11th, 15th, and 19th levels. When you don’t have panache, you still get half this status bonus to your Speed, rounded down to the nearest 5-foot increment.
Hold on. Enjoy the Show doesn't specify what kind of Perform action (is it just the basic Perform? which also has some rules ambiguity to it) and it also doesn't specify what the DC is supposed to be against a creature.

Yes absolutely! They just turned up the coolness of swashbuckler. And thanks! I shall endeavor to not disappoint.
Is it just me, or did the swashbuckler gobble up all the flavour and heart the oracle lost?
lol yeah I think that's very much the case.

Yes totally. I see my Swashbuckler player doing the same opening moves all the time to try and get panache. It seems very... formulaic.
Some of these changes enable me to build a swashbuckler as a WWE wrestler. I love it!

You're right that should have been a "requirement", not a "trigger".

Absolutely. Maybe they could hire some bards to follow them and play music while they fight.
I'm going to miss the additional speed, but this is definitely easier to figure out.
I don't see much that will change my Run Up And Hit Them Really Hard strategy.
LOL well you won't have to tumble through or demoralize as much. I guess. :P
