    your point about television reminds of Enigma code. Most Brits believe it was them that cracked it, but no...Brits only improved it. It was Poles who cracked it

      To straighten few things out... about Enigma
      Poles did manage to crack the code of first few versions and have the knowledge required to brake the later ones using the device called "cryptology bomb". The issue was that the device have to grow to extreme sizes to accomodate the changes in the coding method of enigma, which couldn't be done due to lack of funding and lack of time required to assemble such device before the start of the war.
      That was the point when Polish cryptologists shared their research (and one Polish made copy of enigma) to Brits and French.
      Later British cryptologists (with the lead of Alan Turing) were working in remote cooperation with Polish cryptologists (that at the time were located in France) and based on that cooperation Brits were able to create the "Turing Machine" that could decrypt enigma codes without help from Polish cryptologists.
      What might be a important thing to point out... though Alan was using Polish research as help in thinking process the machine itself worked on totally different basics.

      @@night_wolf_pl944pretty accurate I'd say. I guess our biggest issue is with instances where a different simplified incorrect information is found in TV, Films, books, etc. Like a TV show with question "Who was first to break Enigma code" and names of Polish mathematicians isnt even one of the options, and A Turing is implied as the correct answer. Same in history books in UK. Major change to museum at Blechley Park acknowleging Polish part of this was add there only recently (within last decade if im not wrong).

      @@rafapopawski2559 to be honest... i hate falsification and that goes both ways.
      I hate when they forget what our heros have done for them.
      Like how often the role of our squadrons in Battle of Britain gets reduced (from what i heard from my British friends talking about history lessons in some British schools) when even the British RAF commander said:
      "Had it not been for the magnificent material contributed by the Polish squadrons and their unsurpassed gallantry, I hesitate to say that the outcome of the Battle (of Britain) would have been the same"
      But as a person lives in a country that was harmed by deception so many times i also hate exaggerating what they did.
      History is history and it should be told without bias.
      Sadly history is (and has been) often used as a tool of manipulation, politics and social programming.

    • @night_wolf_pl944
      @night_wolf_pl944 15 дней назад +3

      @@HumpaLumpaBiriBam the most basic difference would be how machine it self operated.
      While polish "cryptologic bomb" was more of manual device that needed constand human input, the Tournig machine was preaty much automatic.
      Also there is the difference in the method used to search particular letters cypher.
      Polish machine searched for set of 3 letters in that were at the beginning of every massage - settings for enigma it self, and cracked the rest of the code on using them (in war time enigma version this was removed making it much harder for Polish machine to decode Enigma cypher - it was impossible with the resources our cryptologists had at that time)
      The Bombe (Tournig machine) worked on the basis of already knowing some parts of the message (if i remember correctly it was the h*il H*tler part) and it decoded rest of the massage based on that.
      The last difference is the fact that Polish device become insufficient when Germans upgreaded the Enigma (in theory it could crack it but the machine would have to be gigantic - it scaled with number of combinations).
      Tournig machine due to beeing automatic and working on different algorythm was able to stay quite "compact" for standards of that times.
      New method had to be invented due to change of some parts of Enigma. Apart from the fact that they stopped using the 3 letters key that Polish machine relied on, they make the encoding process it self a bit more complex with the config of the Enigma machine.

    Kerosene lamp was a significantly more important invention than most people realise. It quite literally pushed civilisation decades ahead. It allowed for people to function easily after sunset and so soooooooo many other inventions and discoveries were made in presence of its light. It allowed for longer working hours, street lamps made walking at night easy and safer and there were even jobs related to turning those lamps on/off. The full history of kerosene lamps is truly fascinating and I think without them we as a civilisation wouldn't be anywhere nearly as advanced as we are now.

We as Poles think about Copernicus "man who stop the sun and move the earth". That was in first quarter, maybe half of XVI century. But Copernicus is not only with this physics and philosophy (thing XVI century) things, but also theory about inflation (economy) or was person who open new era for classical mechanics (in this motion of objects in machinery or spacecraft)

    Two MAJOR Polish invention were omitted. No. 1: Jacek Karpiński's invention of the first personal computer, the K-202 in 1970. While No. 2 was such an important invention that it won the Battle of the Atlantic for the Allies. This was a seaborne direction finding device and antenna (the cage) for the detection of German submarine radio signals, invented by Wacław Struszyński.

  • @cetus4449
    @cetus4449 17 дней назад +28

    Have you noticed a certain pattern? Most of these inventions were made by Poles outside their own country. Their country was devastated in the 17th century. In the 18th century, it stagnated and was partitioned. In the 19th century, when the world was developing most dynamically, Poland was not on the map. Its resources and population served the might of Germany, Austria and Russia. In addition, in the 20th century, Poland had only 20 years of troubled independence before total war and communism came. Today, the political and economic model does not allow Poles to develop freely. In addition to regular devastation, there was a constant phenomenon of the brain and muscle drain has been going on for two centuries. So you can imagine that Poland without occupation, wars, communism, etc. would have a level of development not much lower than France or the Netherlands, and certainly far ahead of Italy or Spain.

    The key point of Esperanto as an international language was the fact that for no one in the world, it was their primary language. Unlike English, Spanish, or Russian, which are native languages of some nations, they then try to force other nations to speak a foreign language. Esperanto was foreign to everyone, so it was fair as an international language, without giving a handicap to anyone.

    I learned Esperanto for a few months. The basic idea of Zamenhof was to include word stems coming from Romance languages, Latin and Greek, which were if not universaly, then widely known at the time among the educated, and create a language based on Indoeuropean grammar structures, totally regular (without grammatical exceptions), with Latin alphabet well conformig to the pronunciation of words. Nowadays Esperanto is more of a social hobby - the esperantists have their meet-ups, conferences (where they incorporate new words into the official vocabulary), Pasporta Servo service (a kind of the esperantists' Couchsurfing), or even Christian masses in Esperanto (although the idea itself was not connected to any religion, it was rather based on universal love and peace through understanding). And yes, it's rather easy to learn, especially if you know one or a few Romance laguages.

    Wycieraczki samochodowe zostały wynalezione przez kobietę (imienia nie pamiętam) i, jak na tamte czasy, pomysł był zbyt rewolucyjny (do tego kobieta to wymyśliła), dlatego został zbagatelizowany i później przypisany facetowi (który z tym pomysłem o dziwo nigdy nie miał nic wspólnego)...

    • @januszlepionko
      @januszlepionko 12 дней назад

      Wycieraczki jako takie były wynajdowane kilkakrotnie:
      - Mary Anderson patent z 1903, ręcznie poruszane;
      - Charlotte Bridgwood patent z 1917, z napędem elektrycznym, z rolkami, oparte o wynalazek Mary Anderson - to o tę panią zapewne ci chodzi. Otóż ten wynalazek nie był zbagatelizowany, bo był użyty w kilku modelach Forda i (później) Cadillaka. W jednym masz rację - nie głoszono publicznie, że to wynalazek kobiety. Ale nie przypisywano tego wynalazku żadnemu mężczyźnie.
      - powszechne użycie uzyskał dopiero piórowy system wycieraczek wynaleziony przez Józef Hofmanna, pianistę i wynalazcę (ponad 70 wynalazków), który pomysł na mechanizm wycieraczek zaczerpnął z metronomu.
