Congrats to Team Japan on winning the 2023 World Baseball Classic!!! Shohei Ohtani is the man!! #athlete #sports #interview #japan #shoheiohtani #baseball
Yes he did, but most bilingual athletes feel more comfortable in their native language. Which is why they do interviews in their first language, Out of fear for looking stupid or saying something incorrect.
? Most bilingual athletes/celebrities feel most comfortable with a translator just to make sure they don’t misunderstand the question and just makes the interview go faster
@@trippyson8902 🚨BOZO ALERT🚨 You will hear that 2+2 is 4, and you'll call it somebody's 2 cents. This is literally the reason why a lot of foreign players have translators. They dont want their words to be misconstrued since things can sound wrong in a different language. For example if I spoke Japanese like I did English, saying something like "They screwed us" might be taken literally.
@@Locusto199not embarrassed but better able to explain themselves in their native language. The media twists everything so it’s risky for miscommunication when your English isn’t perfect.
It's normal to not be fluent in speaking another language. The problem is people who can't accept it. Americans like to make fun of people, so they invented meaningless words like "Native." That's something only Americans who like discrimination can understand lol
Some people say he doesn't need a translator but after seeing a couple of videos of Darvish or Shohei’s interviews, I guess the reason why Shohei and Darvish are still using translators is that they want to communicate reliably with people around them and hear and convey accurate information through interviews.
also kinda make things quicker. interviews are only so long and got limited time plus it could be hard to fully understand everything they say so a translator works best
lol y’all… it’s so they don’t misunderstand or say something they did not intend to because yes he speaks relatively good English and can understand it but it is not his first language and does not know the depth of English as he does Japanese. It’s pretty damn simple. The fact people care to bring it up is ridiculous.
Shohei doesn't try to impress with his lifting. He's doing a total workout geared to all aspects of strength, flexibility, speed, quickness, endurance and the rest.
Ohtani always squats 550 pounds after a game. He did not mention his best squat ... . What a humble guy. Since high school, Otani has been writing down in a notebook what he needs to become the best baseball player in the world. He completely understands the training he needs.
Imagine this interview after the biggest and best moment of ur life, not a bad interview or anything but probably the last thing he thought he would be asked😂
He definitely needs Ippei, and further, Ippei is great on both ends of the translation. Saying "200" is a couple of decades away from becoming independent of Ippei.
@@Tanini1235 I think it’s one of those things where they don’t need a translator to communicate anymore, but they need a translator to help them say everything they want to. Like he definitely knows enough English to go to a bar and order a drink and even have a conversation with someone there, he just hasn’t mastered English so giving an intricate response to a lengthy question after a 3 hour long baseball game isn’t the easiest thing.
Absolutely agree. Everyone kept saying Ohtani’s the best player but we can’t give it to him every year. Like why? He absolutely should get it every year if he’s playing like this. Plus Ohtani just brings more value to baseball as a whole. He mentioned that the team winning and people watching will hopefully motivate more and more people to play & watch baseball, and for more countries to participate. Respect to all the star players (US team as well) who participated for their country and for the love of baseball.

And 2 million for the next ten years 💀
😂😂😂
@@Markmen-cw8djthat’s okay, he’s making 70+ Million per year on endorsements alone 🤷🏽♂️

Yes he did, but most bilingual athletes feel more comfortable in their native language. Which is why they do interviews in their first language, Out of fear for looking stupid or saying something incorrect.
Also, Ippei is like an older brother and best friend figure to Shohei. He trusts Ippei to add benefit as a PR manager which includes translating too.
speaking is a totally different part of your brain than listening and understanding.
Jackie Chan and Chris tucker in rush hour. We just assumed he doesn’t understand lol
Yah I know. Yu Darvish same way.
He squats way more than 200kg. He carries the Angels organization on his shoulders..
😂
Things aren't looking too good for the Angels after all now he's a free agent

You are so privileged to be able to interview shohei after a win. Props to you man I’m jealous
Facts I’m happy for him
And dude talked about squatting🤣🤦♂️
That's not just a win... That's after he won the WBC
Yep. He is very well protected he only does media after he pitch so getting interview of of him is pretty hard.

Max squat? Angels organization.
I love Shohei, he’s just so wholesome and a great dude!
You can tell he really is very genuine
Wholesome😂😂
He’s imposing too.
