      Yes he did, but most bilingual athletes feel more comfortable in their native language. Which is why they do interviews in their first language, Out of fear for looking stupid or saying something incorrect.

      🚨BOZO ALERT🚨
      You will hear that 2+2 is 4, and you'll call it somebody's 2 cents.
      This is literally the reason why a lot of foreign players have translators.
      They dont want their words to be misconstrued since things can sound wrong in a different language.
      For example if I spoke Japanese like I did English, saying something like "They screwed us" might be taken literally.

    Some people say he doesn't need a translator but after seeing a couple of videos of Darvish or Shohei’s interviews, I guess the reason why Shohei and Darvish are still using translators is that they want to communicate reliably with people around them and hear and convey accurate information through interviews.

      also kinda make things quicker. interviews are only so long and got limited time plus it could be hard to fully understand everything they say so a translator works best

      @@Tanini1235 I think it’s one of those things where they don’t need a translator to communicate anymore, but they need a translator to help them say everything they want to. Like he definitely knows enough English to go to a bar and order a drink and even have a conversation with someone there, he just hasn’t mastered English so giving an intricate response to a lengthy question after a 3 hour long baseball game isn’t the easiest thing.

      Absolutely agree. Everyone kept saying Ohtani’s the best player but we can’t give it to him every year. Like why? He absolutely should get it every year if he’s playing like this. Plus Ohtani just brings more value to baseball as a whole. He mentioned that the team winning and people watching will hopefully motivate more and more people to play & watch baseball, and for more countries to participate. Respect to all the star players (US team as well) who participated for their country and for the love of baseball.
