Perfect idea to keep Darnold and let JJ recover and learn over the next year, have him come into a game that's locked up already, and let him get on the field experience
His injury at the high end was a 16 week injury. Let's say that got pushed to 20 weeks or something. He'll be fully recovered by next years training camp. @CrudPig12 you don't throw him into a game without experience, he can learn a lot from Darnold by sitting back and watching, it's a great situation to be in for the Vikings.
MN 'll not trade JJMC, the only trade that 'll force their hands is the Giant's DT sexy Dexter, not even the Titan's great Simmons. Other than Dexter case closed.
Not so sure - If Darnold sucks on sunday and they lose the first round game then Darnold probably tagged and traded or just let walk and take the comp pick. If he makes a deep run and is 27yrs old....maybe need to explore some possible JJ trades if teams offer a good return and the Darnold contract talks are reasonable.
Ivan Pace is not a prototype Height-Weight-Speed NFL player at his LBer position - But remember, matchups make fights and vs the Lions, Ivan Pace can be a blitzing wrecking ball, creating runs for loss and sacks resulting in some crucial stops & punts for the potent Lions offense. The Lions Defense is banged up. The Vikings key space players Cash-Gink-Greenard and Pace should make enough plays to keep Lions potent offense from winning this game. sam is def coming back, and koc has for sure no desire to run jjm out there and potentially see him have a really rocky start because he isn't ready. keep sam for 2-3 more years, develop jjm, make a decision later. 22 other free agents going into next season. oh and one thing people tend to gloss over when they say that sammy d spent a year learning under shanny in san fran is that sam darnold was backup qb to brock purdy in the 2023 superbowl. he was in reality one purdy injury away from taking snaps vs the chiefs in the biggest game just a year ago. the 49ers believed enough in sam to put him in that position last season, and koc gave him the opp to start so he clearly believed in him too. i think ben leber is putting too much faith in koc in terms of well we can just trust that daniel jones can replicate sams performance. we don't know that. we also don't know that jjm can do that either. we do know right now what we have with sam, and we think we know what we're going to get out of jjm in the future, but that's not a decision that needs to be made any time soon. rookie qb contract is so small relative to the rest of the roster we can pretty easily carry sam on a 2-3 year deal, and he can get another big pay day before he turns 30. it's win win win all around for everyone. we don't have to send sam or jjm to a wasteland like the raiders or the titans, and we continue to build.
You're in the biggest off-season ever. 10+ teams need a QB. Noone likes the QB draft. Ward and sanders are bleh. Russell Wilson and than noone in free agency. You can get two first round picks for JJ. If you truly believe Sam is that guy. You go get the sun and the stars for JJ. 2+ first rounders and than some and more for you're backup QB. Keep Daniel Jones and Mullins. Because of the timing of this. If you trade JJ and keep Sam and he plays like this from now on, We're contending for 10+ years. Becuse Sam is only 27 years old and hasn't entered his prime yet. And as the season keeps going. He continues to improve.
JJ was neck and neck with Darnold in camp as a rookie. We only have three draft picks and a lot of holes to fill in the offseason. Remember what Kirk’s contract did to the team? It’s better to roll with JJ. He’s going to be great.
Sam has already limped off the field a couple times and next time, he could end up on IR. It's a nice problem to have to have JJ & Danny Dimes waiting.
all the reports and reporters are getting old. I can say I have watched every game the Vikes since their beginings. ity is getting old. I liked Sam since he was a rookie an dhe was draft # 3. and he is only 27. getting rid of him now is plain stupid. we want a super bowl not a hopw and a prayer
Franchise Darnold, then get huge draft haul or dominate young defensive tackle. Have JJ and DJ compete for starting job, loser being back up. Use money saved to sign Murphy and d linemen, Risner.
There are 6 starters leaving and countless UFA depth. 42million dollar cap hit on one player will greatly diminish the type of talent and depth this team can have next year.

Create a safe and developmental environment with top notch coaching, what a concept! Players want to play for Minnesota and be a part of KOC’s scene, and this goes beyond just the QB room.
The Vikings are loaded and would have won 10 games with many veteran qb's. How many wins do we have if Aaron Rodgers is our qb? he is so petty I bet he would want to stick it to green bay. Yes finally i agree 👍. Cant spend all money qb if not top three. Need money to make great roster
Fact is, if you're ever going to trade him this is the stance you're going to take in order to make someone force you to deal him. You don't ever let it be known, if you want to maximize the cost to get him, that he's available.
It’s up to Kevin intentions and Sam’s asking price. Remember Kwesi foundation is that it has to work for everyone.
After the Packers game, both the Offense and Defense gave Darnold a conquering hero's welcome. The locker room will revolt if they just let Sam go.
@@svengalilord yep. This is truth. Also, there is a strong and highly probable chance that McCarthy will never match the year that Darnold just had. You gotta keep Darnold. Without a QB, you have nothing.
@@lloydtorso6045i don't think that Sam will just go back to being trash but there is a highly probable chance that Sam won't repeat this kinda year either. To just assume Sam will ball out from here on and pay him like he's a top 5 QB sounds like a bad idea to me and that's probably what it would take to sign him to a long term deal right now.
C'mon now, they won't revolt. Stop blowing it outta proportion. If KOC decides to roll with JJ the team will be OK locker room wise
No, they wont
@seancurtis3975Darnold has more in the tank. Listen to KOC, he is self coaching now. It’s his offense! The team believes in him whether fans do or not. If you blows up in Detroit it can change but if he blows the lions out it’s done and they’re going all the way. I don’t understand why JJ is so enamored with him playing against backups for raiders, Clev, and conci. Their 1st teams are mostly horrible. Reality is no one knows so it’s high risk. Darnold loves Vikes and he’ll most likely work out a deal and JJ will sit.
All these teams won our quarterbacks it's too bad there are quarterbacks and they can't have them and that's the end of that discussion
home-schooled, by chance?
I think it's more like an 80% chance they go to the Super Bowl if they win on Sunday, and about an 8% chance they go if they lose on Sunday.
JJ is gonna be a Viking. Hopefully, Slingin' Sammy Darnold is also gonna be a Viking.
If they want to sit him another year, it's whatever, but I don't understand why people keep saying he needs to sit another year to recover. That's literally what he did this year.
It would be foolish to trade JJ
Let Sam go JJ is the future
@@DARRYLSNYDER-r7c NOT.,..... Are receivers need Sam the next 4 yrs and every body knows this.. Trade JJ or keep for back up for 4 yrs
The future is now.
SKOL - Playoff runs get me so hyped!
Imagine if the Vikings win the big one.......we will definitely see the "Franchise Tag" come about. Im 65 and ive seen this happen.
Too Early to be calling for JJM'cC to take the helm ASAP.. remember Johnny Manziel? I remember Vikings fans melting down because MN didn't pick him up! The game is a whole different animal when the League's Top Elite are on the opposite side of the ball. Ride with Darnold for as long as he is producing.. He's Earned it and Deserves It!
Damn straight.
Darnold ain't 37 like rodgers was in greenbay, hes 27. The love comparison makes no sense. Trade Mccarthy for a top defensive player and a 1st round pick from a top 7 pick team.
Orrr… and hear me out here… don’t trade him, you complete moron.
It would be very foolish to trade McCarthy
Obviously how this season plays out will impact Sam's value. One thing is sure is that they have expanded the value of Sam and they will be rewarded for that one way or another.
Under GM KAM and Coach KOC and keeping both Sam and JJ, Vikings is posed to have a dynasty of ten years in NFL. The net worth of owners of the Vikings will triple!
McCarthy and $40 million of free agents
Or
Darnold
That is the question
Darnold
That’s like 2-3 players lol. Any of which could be injured at any time. If JJ doesn’t match Darnold’s level , 40 mill isn’t making up for it.
I already figured out the contract -- you can get Darnold for $20mil next year if you structure the contract right, and I'm going to assume that Kwesi will indeed do that
@@MoMoMyPup10
Yeah the Vikings could sign Sam to 3/125 million (90 mill GTD) - with 1 void year.
2025 = 15 million cap hit
(JJ YEAR 2 and 22 years old)
2026 = 25 million cap hit
(JJ YEAR 3 and 23 years old)
2027 = 30 million cap hit
(JJ YEAR 4 and 24 years old)
2028 = 20 mill cap hit (Void year)
(JJ Year 5 and 25 years old)
This gives Minnesota 2025 and potentially 2026 to roll with Darnold + have cap space for team building.
By end of 2026 the Vikings will either move on from Darnold (95% likely☝️)
OR
Declare 29-30 year old Darnold as their future, trade McCarthy,
and restructure/resign Darnold.
To which the Vikings roll with Darnold through 2030+
(5% likely ☝️)
Full disclosure: ⬇️
In a perfect world , the Vikings roll with Darnold for the next 2 years on a team friendly deal and then 24 year old JJ takes over in Year 4 and balls out, earning himself a second contract with Minnesota.
(So much talk about team building with QBs on rookie deals but the reality is , it’s about QB talent much more than a rookie deal.
You’d much rather pay a Top 5 QB than roll with an unproven young QB. You’d also much rather roll with an unproven young QB on a rookie deal, than pay a mediocre QB big money. 💯)
Thank you so much for this amazing video! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
I'd tag Darnold and look to see if anyone is willing to trade for him.
sam is def coming back, and koc has for sure no desire to run jjm out there and potentially see him have a really rocky start because he isn't ready. keep sam for 2-3 more years, develop jjm, make a decision later.
It would be foolish to trade McCarthy
The window is now. That is why I would see what the market is for JJM. If you could get an early 1st and a DL it may be worth it.
Obviously we keep Mc Carthy. it makes sense to franchise Darnold and let JJ learn under Sam. what we don't need os lose a good player and end up similar to the Herschal walker deal. I liked Sam since he was a rookie an dhe was draft # 3. and he is only 27. getting rid of him now is plain stupid. we want a super bowl not a hopw and a prayer
We should trade I was really hoping we would trade the quarterback, JJ Zoom. Down to prove that he’s a quarterback of the future.
RUclips audience demands a prop crystal ball for this bit,
Thank God !!!!
Franchise Darnold, then get huge draft haul or dominate young defensive tackle. Have JJ and DJ compete for starting job, loser being back up. Use money saved to sign Murphy and d linemen, Risner.
I want to sign Darnold to 3-4 year contract, then trade him after next year and begin JJ McCarthy era for 2026.
With one bird Donald in hand is better than two birds JJ and DJ in the bush!
Whoooooooooaaaaa
(But) what it was for a few 1st round and some.
POISON said... Give me something to believe in.
Matt is so sure Darnold is back next year
There are 6 starters leaving and countless UFA depth. 42million dollar cap hit on one player will greatly diminish the type of talent and depth this team can have next year.
SIGN Darnold and let JJ learn and compete. It works for the Packers and all they got was 3 DECADES OF GREAT QUARTERBACK PLAY
At least when the seasons over we don't have to listen to "we're gonna trade Kirk to the 49ers cause shanahan loves him".😂
JJMC will flop, you got to stick with a redhead who’s killin it it’s the Vikings for god’s sake!
Sam is not a 😊walking wounded requiring like Bridgewater, Kirk, JJ, a year to heal! This is an accident without the ability to take care of himself physically and mentally?
You are not going to trade him. Get real !!
Thugging Detroit Lions HC says "win.by any means."
You guys are only looking at the QB situation from what's good for the Vikings organization. If another team offers Darnold 80-90 million for a multiple year contract the conversation will quickly change to "What can Sam Darnold do for himself ". If Darnold is smart the Vikings would have to beat that number to resign him.
He won’t be offered anywhere near that.
Franchise tag makes that irrelevant.
Darnold is not making it to free agency.
@@michaelpierce9059 a) he doesn't have to sign the Tag, and b) a long term contract that guarantees Darnold $70-$80mil for 2 years, that the Vikes can get out of after that, isn't hard at all to conceive.
Thank you for common sense!!!!
The starting point for discussion is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, this year and 1st and 2nd next year . depending on the seading of said draft capital.
Thank you....I'm so sick of the click bait crap hypotheticals.
McCarthy is not the answer ...... Trade him
Wow, the amount of crazy rumors and disinformation in the national media about the Vikings is reaching some kind of new level of insanity. Thankfully here all is calm and well. Keep Calm and listen to Purple Insider?
Throwback to the old 1500 days! Where's Judd? Lol
Cartels just walk across border. They dont need tunnels! Til 1 20 25 that is...
Between 30 m and 50 m see you later. Never heard of a player that said , I like here. I’ll forget the 10,20,30 million. If things go south for a few years. Ok retire. iE Cousins
No trade??? Um...no shit!!!! Duh.
There would have to be an embarrassment of draft capital riches for the Vikings to Trade Mc JJ. That isn’t going to happen… but how awesome is it that it’s even being talked about? This has been my team since around 1988(8 years old). I’ve lived through the prominent FA QBs running on fumes era. Finding a coach who can develop a QB is a revelation! Create a safe and developmental environment with top notch coaching, what a concept! Players want to play for Minnesota and be a part of KOC’s scene, and this goes beyond just the QB room.
Signing Darnold without a single starting CB or Safety on the roster is asinine.
Good We have the best QB in the room don't break it up
The Vikings are loaded and would have won 10 games with many veteran qb's. How many wins do we have if Aaron Rodgers is our qb? he is so petty I bet he would want to stick it to green bay. BTW I don't want Rodgers but I would rather pick him up for one year on a min deal than pay Darnold 40 million if McCarthy needs another year to sit.
The Vikings just called up Jones for the Lions game. Now when someone signs him this off season we will get compensatory picks (smart move). That also means we are not trading McCarthy and probably means Darnold is coming back next year
football
JJ McCarthy is staying with Vikings
If the Vikings gets traded JJ McCarthy for 3 first round picks and 2 third round picks and player.... My opinion...
Man, I might be turning. Darnold is amazing! He could be up there with Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes with another year in Vikings system. No cap.
Please, stop…..
@@timmurphy1215 Not this year. But give him one more year in this system. He looks the part. His downfield accuracy is superb.
