Interceptor 006 Tackles 1.5M kg of Trash

- In the past month, we have collected over 1.5m kg of trash with Interceptor 006 in Guatemala.
We are still learning from operating in this harsh environment, but we’ll build on this positive start and keep optimizing the Interceptor Barricade for this one-of-a-kind river. - Наука
I know the word pollution has disappeared from public discourse but the work your organization does is not only phenomenal but scalable and repeatable.
The force of the climate deniers is still extraordinary. And exhausting to confront. You'd think the weather itself would be enough evidence, but it's doing little to sway them ...
Dunning-Kruger effect has reached tsunami levels. What can we do, please?
Paz y luz to all.
Then they want clean water
It’s so crazy that we have to pay for some third world country’s inability to clean up after themselves.
@@mortalclown3812I thought weather wasn't climate. Also who "denies climate?" Quite a silly term and I thought correlation doesn't equal causation right? Except with climate change huh 🤷♂️
Who are these assholes that polluted the river? Maybe instead of cleaning up the plastic trash we should clean up the human one... perhaps, address the source instead of the issue.
I can’t believe my eyes. Someone is cleaning trash up trying to make this world a cleaner place. Thank you guys.
They've actually been working on this for quite sometime. I remember it when they were just designing the netting system
The real and smart solution could be to not create that trash.
I love that you just do it. No long speeches, no pointless commitees to discuss how to spend the money while never doing anything. Making happen what governments with billions to throw away can't! You are the future! 💯❤️
We need more people like you
No, we need people to stop living like animals and throwing all their trash in oceans and rivers
@@davidlang4546 yes agreed. But it is very difficult to change people unless there is effective enforcement.
Poor people don't give a crap about the enviroment, we see it here in Philly, NY, Baltimore and hundreds of other places and we have disposal services.
No we need less humans who litter, less companies who pollute our waters.
Necesitamos más gente que no tire basura,más bien dicho
God bless all those who worked on this !!!!
Yess good❤❤❤
Why bless them, this only happened because in South America waste is thrown in the streets to be taken down the sewerage system, which then dumps into the ocean. Why not just recycle it to begin with, and then you wouldn't have to clean it up.
❤❤❤❤❤❤😅
100% agree. If you I actually replied and also said this. Out governments are fooling us, tricking us into feeling guilty. The waste is not from America - its from 3rd world nations that throw their garbage in the street. But i do commend those cleaning the oceans.. and alternatively we should go after these other nations..
Ocean Interceptor 006 has been the answer to my prayers. Grateful for your work and labor!
This is such a wonderful site. Cleaning it up is helping everything, people, fish, plants, trees, animals, everything. Thank you to the workers.
But let's talk about how it got there, people can be pigs.
*sight
Most of the people are gone to America
I wonder how many fish are in this net 😢
Ultimately, this all has to be moved to some other places. That's a lot of diesel trucks. If it's damaged, which it all appears to be, it won't be recycled
A wonderful solution. According to a short article they removed 37 truckloads.
This video has convinced me to try as hard as I can to reduce use of plastics. No more plastic water bottles for a start.
We love our Berkey.
States need to up the recycling!! Countries need to have better respect for their very own environment!
Studies have proven that there are microscopic particles of plastic in the water people drink from plastic bottles!! We are the masters of our own demise 😢
@@janmckellar6703there are micro plastics in virtually everything we eat and drink. It is suspected that most of us also have it in our bodies.

@@truth.speaker HOPEFULLY RECYCLING

@@jkj1459Majority of plastic can’t/won’t be recycled. Now let’s just say the weather is getting worse. Would the flooding the take it back into the sea again? No, going green wont help, population reduction will help.
My hat is off to you. That river can breath again & the ecosystem can thrive. It's all relative. We need them more than they need us. Round of applause for these angels
Ese río NO va a respirar mientras allí sigan tirando su basura miles d personas y negocios se necesitan políticas acordes en Educación, en Cultura y leyes que castiguen esas conductas
Yes people should havebfined strictky prohibted
@denisevillada *Totally agree with you on this here.. River pollution, dumping trash in it, should be strictly and severely punishable by law, either a very high fine when being caught for it or straight up jail sentence if ever this particular offense is judged to be real serious, dangerously impactful and alarming.. There should be no mercy whatsoever, all should be duly punished severely without exceptions.. 😒😤 Then only people would finally learn and understand how devastating this act really is that's why all these severe laws and punishments have been set in place, making it be a well deserved lesson for them and also not to mention that this gonna then turn into an intimidating and scary warning to all those future offenders, which even the mere thought of committing such an offense gonna be terrifying for them haha..* 😂😂
@@denisevilladain these situations it's often as much the individuals fault as the governments (or the lack of government). When there is no garbage collection system in a large city, the waste still has to go SOMEWHERE. It usually sits on streets until hard rains or gets dumped in the nearest river. Obviously these people are partially to blame as they are the direct source, but when garbage collection literally is not available, what else can they do? Bury the trash themselves in an unsafe way, burn it and breathe the toxic fumes? That's nearly as bad as just dumping it in a river, isn't it?
Unfortunately this is after one day of collecting. Like that’s so messed up.
Their work is precious, and it is also the responsibility of each person in particular, wishing no one to litter indiscriminately.
You guys and gals are doing great work here. Will be remembered for a very, very long time

What's worse is that much of this is government in our country. We in Canada were told for years that you need to recycle and we did. Then China stopped taking foreign recycling about 7yrs ago and our country acted like it was business as usual. Right up until early 2020 when we find out that our recycling is actually send to Indonesia and small Asian countries not to be recycled but where it stays in open fields and next to beach. We then find out that Canada also does the same in Phillipines and that their president was sending back ships full of recycling (really garbage) saying we can "choke on our garbage." Turns out the recycling sham was finally revealed to Canadians but then the insane two years of lockdown came and it got forgotten. So I, my family, friends and neighbour's all did our parts but it turns out local, provincial and federal bodies did not and actually covered up the scam until Phillipines and Asian countries turned out government in.
Our local government also has all these feelgood programs but a few years ago dumped over 1 billion and half litres of sewage in river.
The St Greta love fest in the city left more garbage and littering than most festivals because most people love to virtue signal but have zero problems throwing their Starbucks, McDonald's wrappers on floor.
Corporations and governments have a huge role in this as do people.
They literally bring it outside in bags when the storm drains fil because there is no garbage collection.
Much of what drifts ashore on coastal beaches is driven Off islands and shore communities by storms. Hurricane., Cyclones and extreme winds.
@@vladaI believe the us is guilty of the same thing. When china stopped taking foreign recycles, it caused many issues bc the almighty countries didn’t know what to do with their own trash
Putting a tax on plastic packaging is the only viable action so far, worked well in indonesia(where i live)
Love seeing companies doing good like this!
Absolutely incredible work for all involved to be proud of! Thank you!

Agreed and I am generalizing but when we speak of climate change it's dismissed. When the topic of what America contributes to waste and pollution all of a sudden from those people we get China and India they don't want to learn.
Climate change is propaganda lies.. They utterly failed to inform the populations of geo engineering. Military Weather mod. In order to change and manipulate the weather in florida you need to obtain a state permit that costs $1200. Per mod..
Most of that looks like plastics that gets burried in a landfill in North America. Only a small percentage gets recycled.

Every time you take a walk bring a bag and pick up some trash. Ask others to do the same. It works
Just stop throwing shit in the nature. Its simple. But people in poor countries dont give a shit.
exactly! Stop talking, swift into action!
This isnt proactive. Proactive would be somehow preventing the trash from ever going into the water to begin with. Which is done through explaining to a public who doesnt care about the future of the planet/environment they live in, that they cant throw trash out their window which when rain arrives gets swept into the river and out into the ocean.
This is a reactive solution, still a very good solution, but we need this in china too.

@goated313 don't get me wrong. It's a formidable effort, but you can't see this as anything else than a campaign to keep the plastic problem in the news. Whatever the total amount may be, it will always be nothing more than a drop in the ocean. Pun intended 😉
There's parts of the world where they absolutely don't care one bit about the environment. The only places I see real efforts being done are Europe and Australia.
@goated313
Not if you know that an estimated 14 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean PER YEAR.
So in all this time they've removed 0.01% of the yearly input.
Are they gonna build 10 000 of these ships...?🤔

Thanks for all you are doing! I'm a huge advocate for recycling ♻️. I empty my trash 1 or 2 times every 2 weeks, because I literally recycle everything including the compost of vegetables, eggshells. People don't realize that we are suffocating the earth with all these plastics. Doesn't only effect the earth, but effects human, and animal life also.
If you didn't buy that many single use items you wouldn't have to recycle so much 🤷♀️
Imagine if plastics were not invented
Then fossil fuel (in this case diesel), would not have been necessary as clean up not necessary, and so on
We still dont have the means to recycle plastic. Most of it goes in landfill but thats still better than throwin it in the sea
And now we are learning about nanoplastics. How harmful are they?
Recycling does more harm than good
