I'm loving this series! You are doing so well with your channel; you've relaxed considerably. It truly feels like you're a friend sharing your sewing details with me when I watch! 💕👍
Thanks Cath, enjoyed your pattern review, love your makes, and your very jolly Christmas jumper. I hadn’t come across any men’s patterns that looked suitable for a slimmer man. This looks great! Glad you shared the link from your Jersey Dress favourites video.
Thanks for the great review of your five favourite sweatshirt patterns. I really like that there are more than one version on each pattern. I think my favourite was your last one. I noticed that you are much more at ease during your vlogs now. It feels more one on one now. Good job!
Thanks so much, so glad you liked the vlog, I’m starting to feel more relaxed when I’m recording the vlogs so I’m glad it’s coming across, thanks for saying 😊
Just wanted to come back and comment again ! I’m planning to make a Jarrah sweatshirt and wanted to double check something you’d said about the fit, so I just checked in with this vid, and it reminded me of something else on the Toaster 🤔🤔. Great value Cath 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for a second time 😘
This is a great way to share your sewing journey! I especially like seeing your previous makes. It’s so helpful knowing the fabrics that work with each pattern. Have a great sewing day!🧵😄
Thank you for watching 😊 it’s definitely the time of year for getting cosy clothes out isn’t it! It’s been cold and rainy here today, not the best combination 😄 I have got so much wear out of that cropped southbank! X
Ahhh I love your choices! The Linden is my go to jumper pattern 🥰 and I agree with you when it gets colder I love making cosy jumpers. Also thank you for sharing the men’s jumper I have been thinking about making the other half a jumper and that looks like a good one! 👍 xx
Thank you! 😊you can’t beat a linden can you 😊 yes I found the Apollon was a good fit for my husband, hope you find it good if you do use it for your other half Xx
Wow I love your makes and fabric choice, Thank You for sharing it was lovely to see these patterns made up so much nicer than just the pattern pics. You mum n daughter makes are gorgeous too. 🙌🏻❤️💚💜💙
Thank you! this was a great episode! I loved seeing all of your makes and it is great to see them on as well. It's fun to see all of the different versions- amazing how a top can look so different just by changing the fabric. It was also great to see the different variations available with some patterns. I loved the fabric and style of your hacked sweater too!
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the vlog. I really enjoy trying different variations of patterns and fabrics so I'm glad you enjoyed hearing about them :-) Thanks so much for watching!
Loved this video, and great, as I forgot about the linden, I must get my pattern out again. Helen from stitch rip repeat and I went shopping together recently and both bought fabric for the Jarrah, we have both bought the same fabric as yours 🙈🙈🙈 Helens is a green with black dot mines a pink with black dot! How funny! I can't wait to make it xxx
Devon Thread Tales thank you for watching! I haven’t made a linden in a while either, it was nice to revisit my older sweatshirt patterns 😊 ah fab re the jarrah fabric, I think it’s the softest fleece sweatshirt fabric ever! I’ll look forward to seeing both your versions 😀 xxx
Hi Cath! This was SO helpful! I am about your size, and ALWAYS cold 🥶 so it was great to see some patterns and how they look made up! I liked them all. Difficult to know which one I should start with! 😀
Great review of your favorite sweatshirt patterns. I especially loved the pictures of you (and your husband) modeling each one. I wasn't sure I would like the Jarrah pattern, but your makes look fabulous.
Thank you for this vlog. It's great. I've been looking into buying a sweater pattern but didn't know where to start. I'm going to have a go at the Toaster Sweater first.
Fab video again. Love all your sweatshirts especially where you're matching with your daughter. She's so pretty too. I really like making sweatshirts 😃
Great video, thank you. It's so helpful to see the patterns made up along with the practicalities and hints and advice in home sewing the garment. Wardrobe by me has some nice mens patterns, certainly worth having a look. There is a raglan sweatshirt which is on my list to make for my husband. Happy sewing!
Hello! Thanks for sharing your favorites patterns for the season. I'm starting to sew, so I appreciate all the details, difficulty level of the pattern, recommended fabric, etc. Do you have a video showing your 1st make? I really liked the picture of you and your daughter matching outfits. Have a nice day
Thanks so much for watching, I’m so glad you found the vlog useful. I really enjoyed making matching outfits for my daughter and me 😊 I don’t think I’ve done a vlog about my first makes but I could definitely do one 😊
Thanks Cath. Very helpful. Made several of the Nina Lee which I love. 2 longer ones and then 2 cropped ones. However I added the band as it was a bit too short for me but the mid one too long! Been debating about trying another one so given me food for thought 😊. Ideas for men's tee shirts with collar would be good.
Thank you very much for watching, I’m so glad you found it helpful. I haven’t made any men’s t-shirts with collars to date but I did come across the Dockside Men’s Henley & Polo pattern by Love Notions from a vlog by It is Josie, this has several variations on a classic tee including different collar options.
Thank you Cath a lovely video, ive got 3 of your favourite patterns i am going to buy the Jarrah pattern yours are all lovely you have inspired me to get my patterns out, i love the top and your little girl the same, all your makes lovely, thanks again x
Love these Cath! Great vlog, would Defs enjoy more of these! I love the Sloane sweater by named patterns for a slightly more fitted style but also a fan of the linden and toaster!
Such a helpful vlog just been thinking about which winter tops to make so you’ve really helped me out! Love your versions especially south bank dress beautiful colour xx
This is the first of your vlogs I have watched. I heard about you on Angela's Devon Threads vlog. I really enjoyed it and loved the idea of comparing different patterns. Would love to see more of the same.
Thank you, this was such a helpful video, I'm about to start making some jumpers for the winter, I was surprised by the number of versions on the Jarrah pattern, as not seeing the pattern in real life before I presumed there was only the version made up on the front,
Love, love, love this vlog - always great to see how things sew up before you buy them. I have bought the Jarrah and am just waiting for the fabric, blue Chevron quilt, to arrive so that I can start the high-low version. My first sweater! I usually knit them. I just loved the sweater dress on you. Thanks again. X
Thank you very much for watching, I’m so glad you enjoyed the vlog! I hope you enjoy sewing up your Jarrah, it sounds like it will be lovely and cosy in the blue chevron quilt 😊👌x
Hi Cath, I love a jumper too 👌😁. I have all those patterns and made them all, except the Papercut Patterns, Nina Lee and the man's version...which I'm now wishing I had 😉. Another great snuggly sweater pattern is The LB Pullover by Paper Theory and can be made in a woven too 👍. Loving all your versions, especially the Nina Lee dress 💖👌😁😘
Hi Sally, thanks so much for watching 🥰 brilliant thank you I’ll look up the LB pullover now, i haven’t come across it but that sounds really cool that it can be made in woven too! I can’t wait for the weather to get a bit colder here so I can get the Nina Lee dress out 😊❄️ xx
Loved seeing all your jumpers. Makes me want to try more, especially the Jarrah sweater. One of my favourites is the Chloe Sweatshirt by Rosy Pena patterns. It's a standard sweatshirt but oversized slightly which I like xx
Great format, lots of inspiration and lovely fabric choices. I have three of the patterns already, just need to get sewing them. The main delay is ordering the fabric as I only started sewing this year and order online so not too familiar with the different types of stretchy fabrics yet. 🌺🍀
Thanks so much for watching, I’m really glad you liked the format. Hope you can find some nice fabrics for your sweatshirts. My favourites are cotton based french terry and cotton based sweatshirt fabric 😊 nice and breathable and cosy too
Hi I enjoyed watching your video. You made me think about whether I needed a Toaster or Southbank sweater, can't decide. Are they really that similar? Also I'm looking for a tank top pattern for winter. Do you know of any? Liked the pictures of your family. Thanks 👍
Thank you very much 😊 the toaster and southbank are quite similar in terms of neckline, I marginally prefer the southbank overall as I like the drop shoulder (the toaster has raglan sleeve instead) and I like the option for the sweater dress too 😊 i haven’t come across a winter tank top pattern but I’d recommend searching the pattern database on the foldline Website as you can search by features of a pattern, so it’s really good for finding patterns for a particular type of garment 😊
Another really helpful & informative video, thank you! Might it be possible for you to include info about fabric care for different materials? (Eg loop backed jersey; viscose jersey). I’m having to do most of my shopping online & websites don’t always give care instructions.
Thank you for watching, I’m really glad you found it helpful. Yes I can definitely incorporate info about fabric care, I’ll bear that in mind for future vlogs 😊
Hi Cath, I have the Southbank pattern and plan to make it in a Cosy Colours fleece back . I’ve just noticed when watching your latest vlog that you have done so with the red colour way. Do you think it would be possible to use a stretch interfacing on the neckband to give it a bit more body so that it stands up rather than flop as this fabric is not very thick? ( I might be talking rubbish as I’m fairly new to dressmaking 🤣) also would it be easy enough to lengthen as I don’t like the cropped length? Love your videos x
Hi Julie, thanks for watching. Yes I think it would be easy enough to lengthen the Southbank sweater 😊👍 In terms of interfacing that’s an interesting question! I’ve only ever used stretch interfacing on waist ties and it was a lightweight cotton jersey so I’m not sure how it would work on a fleece back and for a neckband, I guess you could try adding interfacing to a small piece of the fabric and seeing how it might feel? X
Ohh I was excited to recognise your face when I was searching on here for info on the Jarrah sweatshirt :) You have an awesome channel, and this was a lovely video, thank you - very helpful. Do you have any tips when using the same fabric for the neckline and hem/cuffs? I was going to use ribbing but then decided against it.
Thanks so much, I’m so glad you found the video helpful 😊 When using the fabric instead of ribbing for the neckband, I find sometimes you need to cut it slightly wider as it won’t necessarily have as much stretch as ribbing (especially fleece backed sweatshirt). Otherwise I find I can use them pretty interchangeably 😊
This was great, thank you! I have a quick question as I'm still fairly new to sewing, especially with knits - when you hacked the lindon sweater to add the cowl neck from the other pattern, how did you make sure that the new pieces were going to fit into the neck hole?
Thank you for watching! With that hack I compared the pieces and they were broadly the same size, and as they are stretch fabric I just eased one into the other, so that one stretched slightly more than the other 😊
@@madebycathcraft ah thank you! I'm just about to make the jarrah jumper and I noticed that for some of yours, you made the neckband with the same fabric - I was wondering how much stretch the fabric you used had so that you knew you'd be able to get your head into it? I'm a bit worried because the fabric I've chosen hasn't got any elastane in (it's a sweatshirt fabric, it hasn't arrived yet) and the pattern suggests using ribbing, but I much prefer jumpers with the same fabric for the neckband. Sorry for all the questions!
@@natalieclamp the rust fleece sweatshirt fabric has 40% stretch according the the website I bought it from. The green one had 4% elastane, so I guess fairly standard french terry stretchy ness? 😊

You did an excellent job with your Linden hack.
