My first computer language was programming in BASIC using the Apple II micro computer back in 1986. Didn't know back then you can program Basic using the mainframe. Wow thanks for sharing this video. It brings back the good old memories of the various Basic dialects I learned like Applesoft Basic, Integer Basic, IBM BASICA, GWBASIC and Visual BASIC. Now another BASIC360. Feeling nostalgic with Basics...hahaha.
I learned Basic first on the Sharp PC-1211 handheld computer in the early 80s. I used it to program math models of celestial motion (ie satellite orbits and such). Once I had the math figured out in Basic on the handheld computer, I would then re-program them in PL/1 on the mainframe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharp_PC-1211
Remind me of writing BASIC programs. I learned Applesoft BASIC, Integer BASIC, TI BASIC, TI Extended BASIC, C64/C128 BASIC, VAX BASIC, DEC BASIC, BASICA, GWBASIC, Amiga Basic, ... Now I am writing C/C++ programs..
@@moshixmainframechannel I also have one of those Sharp pocket computers. Lots of fun. I first learned to program BASIC at Radio Shack at their TRS-80 Model 1 with Level 1 BASIC. The public library also let us sign up for free access to an HP3000 at a local college and my brother and I used to program in BASIC there also and play Star Trek. ;-)
Now it's you'r turn Moshix. Upgrade that basic compiler, add support for 3270 full screen services, named subroutines, CICS/DB2/ISPF/VSAM/Whatever interface, editor with syntax coloring and autocompletion ;-)
+don isenstadt, I recognize you from.fbe mailing lists Honored to have you as a viewer. Yes I plan to make a video about the new basic version when I return from currently overseas trip in about 2 weeks. Thanks for watching
Im trying to find the video where you show how to send jobs to the virtual card reader but I cant't find it. The one where you code a cobol program on your computer and then send it to MVS for automatic compiling.

Ok
I tested and it worked great! Thank you! 😃
Will you be updating for basic v3? Although Version 3 does not seem to address the print issue though..again thanks for making the video!

Is there a link to the new version? As usual Thanks for the great videos!
I haven’t played with v3 yet. It’s such a minimum implementation of basic that I don’t really want to put time in it. Sorry !
That's fine, I just wanted to see if I could track the download down to install it myself.

Submit jobs to MVS and z/OS thru FTP - M74
@@moshixmainframechannel You are the best! Thank you!
