    "Oh no! The monument to all our sins!" Nice Halo reference. lmao
    Personally, I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop where the Atherians end up being _their_ universe's Borg, one that's already won and assimilated everything. Their sayings and cadence are very similar to the borg. This whole thing is likely a ploy to usurp control and assimilate the Borgs of other universes before continuing on to assimilate the rest of the species there. I mean they just _suddenly_ and very _conveniently_ popped up with advanced technology capable of holding off the Borg out of nowhere, and just _kindly offered it up to the UFP._ Makes you wonder how they would ever struggle with how effective it seems to be.

    Once again I'll propose the cloaked wrap missile swarm strategy. It's stupidly simple and relief on the laws of physics to do the job, something the Borg can't adapt to.
    So you start with a large missle - basically a dense alloy slug the size of a starship outfit it with a souped up warp drive and independently powered cloaking divice. Give it simple _terminal_ guidance, a firewall, and an encrypted physical data port. The port physically links with a ship like a runabout with it's own cloaking device, and a single pilot.
    You then have the runabout steer the big bastard to the DZ, along with enough friends to overwhelm the targeted group of Borg like 5 or 10 times over. Then you kick it up to maximum warp and each runabout manually locks in a target. At minimum safe distance each runabout disconnects and runs for it under cloak. The missiles continue at warp 9.99 or whatever, terminal guidance overcoming Borg evasive maneuvers and volume compensates for tractor beams and point defense. Then you let physics do the rest.
    With any given kinetic payload enough to crack open a planet, there's basically nothing the Borg can't do about it. No amount of shields can stop that kind of raw kinetic energy, and any missile that loses a target will just fly off into deep space until it's fuel runs out - which if you plan correctly, should be like an hour after impact. You can tow home strays and reuse them. If the Borg catch one, so what? It's nothing they've never seen before, and if you follow up with a second stand-by wave to take out any Borg salvage
    Ships the exact same way, they still never know what the hell obliterated them.
    And that's it. You didn't fuck around, you didn't use fancy tech the Borg can assimilate, you just saturation bombard them and don't stop for anything short of total victory - no matter how many planets you have to obliterate in the process.

    • @Shatterverse
      @Shatterverse 7 месяцев назад +6

      It's like with infantry weapons. You get one of every different kind of rifle - phaser, disruptior, ammo replicating slug throwers, etc. and make them into a _gatling gun. Set every energy weapon to randomly self-remodulate on a random cycle that cuts them out of fire rotation while remodulating. Then you mow down drones that literally can't adapt fast enough to the volume and variety of hits fast enough to help his buddies, even if they do get their heads out of their asses and swarm 10:1 like they should given a cube has tens of hundreds of thousands of drives in board.
      Seriously, Star Trek never considers the practical applications of their technology through enough. You'd think they'd have switched to guns that shoot bullets with built-in ammo replicators for anti-Borg combat by now, with a built in phaser they can switch to if needed.

    • @DerDrecksack87
      @DerDrecksack87 5 месяцев назад

      @@Shatterverse they even have an episode in DS9 that evolves around a ballistic rifle that can even lock targets trough walls, just send a few squads armed with those and let them snipe the control nodes trough decks so all the drones lose connection, or use torpedos filled with the stuff that liquified the queen in First contact, a borg cube is not exactly segmented with decks & bulkheads, you would get most of the drones with a barage. They could also just pack several Mirandas full of mines & torps and just ram them into a cube during fighting. There are just sooo many ways to exploit the prime timeline borgs it aint funny, but they are still the best TNG bad guy, after/during Voyager that changed but not really because of the Borg being weaker but more like Janeway being ruthless, if the Federation paused its morals and really would go all in regarding the destruction of the borg, they could do it(even without the temporal shennanigans).

    I am going with two possible origin theories of the Aetherians in STO.
    1. They are the race which probably in an era after the Iconians existed in one universe and the Borg are their creation. In our universe, I think those Aetherians then evolved into the Q.
    2. The Aetherians are Borg, but Borg whose 'assimilation' did not involve taking over, but in stead copying others and only refining their own race, thus evolving those Borg to a far more advanced species which far more closely merges tech and organics.

    Think the Etherean race is there universe version of the Borg. The huge difference between them being that they are benevolent instead of malevolent like the Borg. 3 main reasons for this 1) they seem immune somewhat to the Borg 2) They use geometric shapes for there ship like the Borg but they go with diamonds shape verses the cubes the Borg use. 3) there catch phrase "Through Harmony , we are secure Through Unity we are strong" seem like a kinder and more welcoming version the Borg's "We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.".

    Btw, I usually rather like ground combat in STO, but the fight at the shuttle landing was just frustrating.
    Getting instantly swarmed and overwhelmed, having to respawn multiple times no matter what I tried, really put a big dent in the pacing of the mission.
    A good boss fight or similar should push you to your limit. I liked the fight with the Borg King, for example. Getting repeatedly stomped into the ground, and only winning because you can respawn a bit quicker than the enemy, isn't much of a challenge.

    I think your point about it being the fate of the federation might be where they are going with this, at some point after a lot of losses the federation is going to have to tell the atherians no.. that might affect the harmony and unity somewhat

    Why is the Saurian name, Geko, unfortunate?

    • @sleepingbackbone7581
      @sleepingbackbone7581 7 месяцев назад

      a gecko, species of a small lizard here on Earth. Saurians are humanoid lizards......it was a joke.

      @@sleepingbackbone7581 I mean I know what a gecko is. The character is named after my character. I just didn’t get the joke I guess.

      The story is still unfolding but the episodes are released every couple of months, Everything in the Story Series (except for a couple of missions) are there as a backlog of content to go through! Hope you enjoy your time with it!

    Is there a mirror Species 8472?

    • @SJKNOL
      @SJKNOL 5 месяцев назад

      Given the earlier mention of Fluidic Space being "connected" to multiple dimensions, I would guess not. That does however mean that it's oddly specific Species 8472 ended up messing with "our" dimension

    To be honest: I didn't liked the episode, when i played it. It didn't add anything really new to the story and the Borg, you were fighting here, aren't even the same Borg, that you fought before. For me, it felt like the writers wanted to throw someting into the line just for a bit nostalgia bait. Sela's story in STO was done after the Iconian War, so why did they had to throw her in now again?

  • @Flight--tz5nf
    @Flight--tz5nf 7 месяцев назад

    Worst than the last episode. Craptic mucking thinks up yet again. At least my Niagara Class did well. The ground combat. The amount of Borg was beyond absurd. It wasn't even fun. I didn't die. But I ended up leaving the mission. It's just wasn't fun dealing with the insane amount of Borg. I was remodulating literally every few seconds rather that fight the things. Then when I did return. (for completion purposes) 90% where gone and I progressed to the final part.

      It does make it feel like overwhelming odds, a bit like the last stand in Home.
