My childhood Chinese restaurant always knew when I was home from college, visiting my parents. The take out order would have "sweet corn chicken soup, NO EGG," added. They'd always say "your daughter's home!" When the order was called in!

My son Charlie turns 18 Today, I am cooking, Chicken and Corn soup, etc tonight. I have whole head if cauliflower in the fridge. By chance. excellent! I like the old classic chicken and corn soup.
I made it and loved it. It's a keeper. I love the healthy version of it. I made a couple of changes though. I added a dash of sesame oil. It was a nice touch to the recipe. Also, I decided for next time, since I made it from scratch as you suggested, I will blend everything in this soup, including the green onions, garlic, ginger root and the shrimps. They add to a great flavor and why through them away! The family really enjoyed it and so happy I have a little left over. I will have it for breakfast this morning. Thank you Marion! Your little one is adorable by the way!
Yes growing up at the seaside we have almost the same recipe but we switch out dried shrimp with fresh shredded crab meat to get that nice umami which compliments the sweet corn and turn it into crab and corn soup. For people allergic to shrimp would be a nice option. My mother does the same thing with cauliflower cause my brother hates it. haha
Brilliant way to add in vegetables to a timeless soup loved by folks of all ages.

After watching this, I made a vegan corn soup without oil that came out surprisingly delicious! Added ginger and garlic of course 🙏

My mum was sick and she wanted soup so I tried this recipe. Before I could get to the blending part my mum tasted it and loved it the way it was. Half way done soup and she drank 2 bowl. It was that good. Thank you for this amazing sweet corn soup and half way done soup

Ooooh reminds me of those Knorr instant soup mixes where you stream an egg after taking the pot off the flame.
This one is simple enough that the pantry and veggie bins hold everything, and we always have stock and leftover chicken. Sounds great on sudden chilly, crummy days or those mornings after having a bit too much booze.

I sooo love this soup...I do it with cream corn too for the fullest flavour ever!!! I sometimes use leftover whole chicken on bone fr Sunday roast...flake it,clean the the bone of every meat...simmer it, take it out, put in fresh cut veggies,cream corn, the chicken flakes voila chicken sweet corn soup...

Never thought of adding cauliflower! For anyone reading this, sweet corn soup is also great with fish, pork mince or crab (if you’re feeling fancy). 😋

I may have slightly overdone the cauliflower, as the result looked like cream of chicken soup, but the flavour was an absolute knockout. Definitely one to make again.

I always mix kernel corn & sweet corn cream for my soup, add in prawns, crab meat, fish maw and eggs.

I made this last night, it came out more savoury than sweet. I've looked at other recipes and they mention adding cream style corn soup instead of the corn kernels. Just a FYI if you want this soup sweet.
