Beautiful . Looking to purchase one soon . Love the sound of your M . I have a straight pipe on my Cub and definitely satisfied with the results versus the underslung exhaust that was offered on the 55 model year . Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks!! Yes the straight pipe sure makes them talk. This was my pulling tractor for a few years. It really talks when under a heavy load. I'd like to get me a Cub to compliment my M someday. My dream Cub would be a 1957 (white grill) Low Boy with fast hitch
Beautiful tractor!!! I also like the M tractors with the 2-71 Detroit diesel option, they were a very rare factory option. Im more of an Allis Chalmers WD-45 kinda guy! 😊
Thanks for your comment!! I'm pretty sure those Detroits did not come from the factory. I'm sure there were probably some IH dealers that may have offered to do the conversion, but for the most part the farmers did them. There was also a Sheppard Diesel engine conversion that was offered, but yes they are very nice!
I used this tractor at Tractor Pulls for a few years. I took out to save weight and to save a little power too. I still have it along with the gear box for the belt pulley, but I kind of like the stripped down clean look so I'll just keep it like it is. Thanks for watching!!
Man I hope my M will look that good someday and sound that good to! It sure is a lot nicer backing in the shop with a Farmall rather than a Nseries Ford much nicer gears in the Farmall family!😀👍🇨🇦
@@Jason1Pa I have never understood why reverse was so fast on the N series I like to go nice and slow in reverse especially if the rear axle seals are weeping.
@@keithwarkentin Ah yes. The 8N is a bit fast in reverse. 9N and 2N is ok. It's nice if a 8N has the Sherman transmission option that can gear it down a bit.
@@Jason1Pa For sure I would love to get a hold of a Sherman step down that would be really nice! But I will have to be grateful for what I have for now 😀
I like them with or without fenders. Since this one never had them I didn't put any on plus I was pulling with tractor so not having them on kept the weight down. I think If I'd go with a muffler it would be a stainless steel one.
The Editing skills are coming along great.. I told you that Program was kick ass... The Video quality looks GREAT so, you're doing it right.. Just noticed 1 small thing that needs to be fixed.. A Stainless Steel Muffler is all that you're missing.. :-p
LOL.. How about I meet you have way I'll go with a stainless steel strait pipe?? And yes the program is great. Too great!! Too many choises to have. Thanks again for all your help
***** Thanks George!! I used AVS editing program.. Do a Google search you'll get tons of info onit and how to get it. There is a lot you can do with it if you take the time. This video is real simple
+Sloth Bear I'd try another one. Try from a different supplier so you don't end up with the same thing.. Not that it matters a lot cause they are all made overseas.
Store is located in Greensburg Pennsylvania. Got them back in 2003-2004 and thet were around $500 a piece if I recall. I'm sure they are considerably more now.
Funny one dislike. They are an ass! Beautiful job! Wish some people could enjoy nice things! Don't worry sure they couldn't afford or spell restoration. Once again nice job.
why would someone spend all that money restoring this beautiful old tractor, and not put the original muffler back on it???? That roaring sound might sound cool, but your burning your valves. The motor has LESS power. these tractors didn't sound bad with the muffler. why??
I thought this myth would be dead by now,but I guess not.. You will not burn your valves by running a strait pipe.. There were tractors, cars, motorcycles, airplanes, etc that didn't have mufflers from the factory and provided years of service. As far as less power goes it's possible. Some engines may gain a slight HP gain with a little bit of back pressure, but the only way you could find out would be a dyno test. The couple HP you may gain or loose isn't going to be felt. I pulled this tractor for a few years that's why I had the straight pipe. Plenty of power/low end torque and competitive. It's a trailer queen and to be honest the only damage I'm going to the engine is not running it enough. Thanks for watching.
Music to my ears
Beautiful! That Farmall will last forever.
Awesome restoration. Sounds good too. I’ll have an M someday
Truly one of the finest machines every made! It will be running when we are long gone. It's 78 years old and still kicking like new.
Dennis Pfeifer That's right!!!
Truth be told,my first tractor love were these old Ms. Lookin good!

Where did you get the tires?
I got them at a local tire place near me. If your wondering because of the white lettering I simply painted them.
Jason1Pa Where is this store/abojt how much did you pay for them?
