This remains one of Nas’ biggest triumphs.
This video goes hard. The beat goes hard. The sample go hard, the lyrics and message all go hard in the paint. It’s near end 2023 and this one still hits. Especially now from then after seeing so many friends die or go in and how so much has changed and yet how so much hasn’t.
Peace Nas and bless up for this record. I remember the record.

I have seen Nas live twice. The second time was at woohah festival in The Netherlands. There were artists from the new school like rea sremmurd. I also enjoyed their show but their backup vocals were so loud you couldn't hear the difference between them actually rapping or if it was a tape playing. Before Nas came up the stage they installed a drum (the only real instrument I saw that day) and when Nas himself entered the stage no mc or other backup followed him. Nas was just performing there all by himself and his drummer. All he realy needs is one mic.

If it was the year 2380 and hip hop was lost to that generation, and someone asked, "What is Hip-Hop?" We should have this song buried in a time capsule to reveal the purpose and essence of Hip-Hop in its purest form, representative of all generations of the genre. Nas- is Hip hop's conscience and culturalist.

That's cool. How about this. A 16 year old black kid makes it to number 3 on the charts with his Gucci Gang. Like it or not, that is the reason why people like Nas pave the way for these kids to grow up with a better chance than them. Nas never won a grammy even for illmatic, yet people bitch when Kendrick doesn't win. Be happy he even had a chance Nas did not. Never hear Nas complain about the new generation of mumble rappers like that Gay Z clown. That is why he is the greatest he doesn't hate people just be they are different than him like you so called righteous true conscious hip hop fans. My two favorite rappers are Nas and Kodak Black. One mumbles and One is the best lyricists of all time.
