    Good vid. The reason why the Sport is so surprising is that it has to pass the same standards as all Land Rover/range rovers at its development site in Eastnor. The bare bones of the terrain response system is the same on every model in land rover’s range. The Sport’s limiting factor I thought is its suspension more than anything. The ultra short 1st gear acts as an adequate low range for what’s its capable of. From what I’ve experienced, nothing in its segment (Audi q5, Merc gla, Skoda kodiak, bmw x3 etc) comes close to its off road capabilities. It’s right at home on snow covered roads or muddy back lanes. But as you said it can get out of its depth on more specialised off road courses.

      Had use of an original LRDS for a few years now, they are like magic carpets in the suspension realm, they are perfectly capable too, driven them in the LR test centres and i would like to see other brands do what even a DS can do! they do save the more technical stuff for the proper off roaders like the RR and the full spec disco and defender....fit and finish is nice too for the price you pay for them, base model is the same as a Golf Gti in the UK....not bad really, especially when you look at the ride comfort!

    • @DrivenHard

      It is a low end product for Land Rover, that's a fact. And if you go and talk to the dealerships most ppl buying these are not big car enthusiasts at all. Either way, this baby Disco is incredibly surprising and will do way more then most ppl ever will need it for. Still better then the competition by far

    Why did you put it in Mud and Ruts for going up the track? The Grass Gravel Snow is the correct mode. The LR website tells you the characteristics of each mode and what to use it on, and that clearly was not mud. Also, I agree, the rear view camera/mirror isn't great when driving, and you made a good point that normal day to day driving, when you have only a little stuff in the back, no need for it at all. However, you load that trunk/book up the roof, like for a camping trip or with bulky store purchases, are you still going to be able to see out the back? Of course, not all features are right for every person, but plenty of people will find it very useful at times.

    • @DrivenHard
      @DrivenHard  3 года назад

      Mud ruts mode offers much better throttle modulation then grass gravel snow especially when you are going to be lifting wheels

    • @andiscott8470
      @andiscott8470 3 года назад

      @@DrivenHard But Grass Gravel Snow offers more responsive traction control to prevent slippage like you experienced a lot whilst trying to get a start up the track. Throttle modulation did not really seem to help as it just made you lurch forward a lot instead of keeping more consistent traction. But, hey ho... Whats done is done.

    People who buy a vehicle like this will never get themselves into a situation they cannot get out of. LOL I have one and I do everything to avoid using the 4x4 stuff as it's out late at night and i dont want to be calling farmers for a rescue. I don't want to churn up the ground to recover stuff so it stays on the hard where i can. Also it's £50000 of kit that I don't want to break. You get one of these because if you don't have access to the tools you will get to even less places. Low range can take a walk, I will swap it all for 3 more inches of ground clearance, M&S tyyres and rubber mats instead of carpet.

  • @cygnusx7

    I have this car and I think you were pumping the gas and braking way too much. You should slowly start to accelerate and once you start moving sufficiently, keep the gas pedal in a steady position. Just let the car figure it out and you'll be amazed how nice it goes.

    Odd that you say it doesn't have the camera or the low gear crawl. It has both. Camera is underneath camera found on the screen. The low auto crawl is on the bottom of the centre console as a button. It also comes with summer tyres as standard. I like your stuff dude but give it a fair go please.
