If we talk about culture. Toronto has given huge contract to they young stars early, when other teams made 7-8milj contracts. Other teams keep they free agent signs usually under 10milj. Toronto created culture where they give huge contract to player A and then player B, C and D have all the rights to ask big contracts too. One reason why Boston been stronger is, because they used money more wisely.
Matthews isn’t the guy either. Who’s the leader in that room ? It certainly isn’t the 13 million dollar guy. You think mcdavid doesn’t go off on the guys in the room or McKinnon or Crosby or Bergeron when he was there or Marchand now or chara when he was there. They’re all by standards to no leadership. No wonder Ryan oreilly wanted out that guy came in as a deadline addition and right away was looked at to be the leader lol that’s terrible.
