How a "Real" Musician can use Suno v3 AI Generated Music

  • Take your Suno-generated AI music to entire new levels, by making it editable!
This video is mostly for musicians who want to use music created by Suno as a starting point for actual studio projects.
Get started with Suno free: suno.ai
    Band-in-A-Box is a product of: www.pgmusic.com
For good reason, people are loving Suno’s latest version of their text-to-song technology. While still just available for Pro and Premium users, it does an excellent job of creating professional sounding songs complete with vocals and full instrumentation.
Check out a full overview in my previous video: • AI Songwriting That Wi...
In this video we talk about how to combine the recorded output of Suno, and then convert it to editable music we can further develop in other programs, like digital audio workstations.
This is where Band-in-a-Box comes in. This software has been on the market since 1990, and I’ve personally been using it since that time, Version 1, on my Atari computer.
Among hundreds of other features, BIAB will identify the chords of a song from the recorded audio, and allow us to apply countless styles and other instrumentation on top of it.
This video is just sharing a concept, rather than going into a deep dive on the BIAB software. If you’re really interested in that, let me know in the comments.
Mostly, I just want musicians and other creatives to think outside-the-box when it comes to what you can do with the content you create on Suno, and any other music generation AI.
00:00 Introduction to Creative AI Music Generation
00:03 Exploring Suno Version 3 for Song Creation

    📔 ABOUT BOB DOYLE
We live in a freaking crazy time, don’t we?
Artificial Intelligence has exploded into the mainstream, and reactions are varied, to say the least. But for me? I’m all on board! As a creative, today’s technology allows me to take the skillsets I’ve acquired over a lifetime and use them like never before. Instead of feeling threatened by how rapidly seems to be taking of people’s jobs, I see the technology as a way to foster creativity in far more people than are currently tapping into their creative potential. I believe we are here as humans to create. And for me, it’s not an option. If I’m not creating something, I’m dying inside. So Bob Doyle Media is a showcase of my various outlets of creativity, and you’ll see that AI plays a big role in it. From virtual photoshoots and art and animation creation, all the way to voice cloning and face replacement… I play with all of it, and this is where I share it. If you’d like to work together, please reach out. I’d love to connect and talk about how I can contribute to your project.

There's also a web that will match any lyrics with an AI voice singing them. Used it to create my own cover of a song I like, but as a guitarist, not singer, found it amazing to get a vocal performance that sounded not only better than splitting out a stem vocal, but also had my choice of vocalist voices...

This was very interesting. As an elderly musician and producer who's seen it all I agree with your idea that musicians and producers need to work with the latest tech to raise their game. However, useful though this technique may be, I imagine the AI will have been suitably upscaled by the end of the year. It's only a matter of time before someone designs a DAW that runs entirely on AI, and does it at any bitrate and sample frequency you like, rendering workarounds like this one obsolete.
[One last thing - I'd forgotten all about Band in a Box! I had no idea it was still a thing. Looks wonderfully retro. I must check it out!]

As you can probably tell from my username and channel how I feel about Ai generated music, even though I'm a musician. At the moment, I'm not recreating the tracks because of the nature of my project. It would take too long to build the kind of catalog I need and the quality of Suno V3 is good enough for RUclips listeners. But I do plan to use Suno to compose songs that I will recreate and I wonder how many professional songwriters are doing exactly that right now. When it comes to copyright, they simply won't say that the music was Ai generated and because they recreated it, there isn't any evidence of it.

I think that’s the best use of Suno in its early stages. This is an amazing “concept” tool where you can hear some ideas and recreate them into a full project yourself

The sooner, the better position you're in when the dam breaks.

I finally understand how non-artists feel about low-quality AI art! As a comic book artist, I'm always baffled by how people can't see the obvious issues with AI-generated images. It's like me trying to read sheet music - I have no clue how to differentiate notes, haha!
On that note (pun intended!), I'm a professional comic book artist but a hobbyist animator. I was trying to use AI music for my animations, but wow, I didn't realize how bad it sounded!
Question: Could I use JJazzLab 4 instead of Band-in-a-Box to import and edit AI music in my project, making it clean and clear? (Yeah, just gotta struggle through with this until I can afford a real musician.)

Hi, fantastic content! Question, how and what exact prompt did you use to tell Suno to have a decent intro instrumental like your song here? Suno always starts the song immediately with verse 1 and it's kinda annoying coz many times we'd like to have a decent intro instrumental before the singing starts. Any tips?

Thanks for the great video it got me to subscribe. I had never heard of band in a box before - I bought it just to try this out - but despite trying for a week or so, I can't get it to work like this- it seems like the new interface is different or something? Everything I try sounds like a hot mess and doesn't sync to the vocals at all (no option like that pops up nor can I find it anywhere in the program. Would you consider checking if the interface has been updated and do an updated in depth video? 😁

I am not an expert in anyway i have been generating songs in the last week with suno v3 and it is great,i also use an app called Moises, i have the premium version and it splits the sumo track into its varous things like vocal bass drums etc and it also tells you the chords as the song plays so i am interested in Band in a box to try and improve things i do some busking and i think this could be a good tool to write songs to play on the street...

Hmmm. Looks to me you're not able to combine the STRENGHTS of the 2 programs. I want the SOUND, especially the vocals (high fidility, granted) of SUNO, with the FLEXIBILITY/ADAPTABILITY of BiaB.
Because you can't put a chord structure in Suno, right? So that's not a good basis. And you can't create soul vocals in BiaB. Sadly.

All I wish from any AI song composer are MIDI files. I am a total novice, I use GarageBand IPadOS w/dozens of AUv3 Instruments (Moog’s, AudioKit’s, etc’s) Also Riffler’s, iBassist, etc’s for adding more AI ideas. The experimentations and results are for me only. Been subscribing to Songen (very poor, but standalone), and the better AIVA (much better, but must run it on my Mac for any real time editing options for their MIDI downloadable files). Just created a surprisingly funky Krautrock song with this Suno that I would love to tear apart and build up again w/my own AUv3 instruments.
Nice video, but for Suno, I ask if will you be adding MIDI track options?

I would definitely say get the latest version and the cheapest bundle is probably great for a start. But look through the features and see for yourself. If you’re a musician who likes to play with lots of styles, maybe some of the upgrades are worth the money for you. Overall it’s a very inexpensive program.

OK so this AI "thing"...I have songs that I have written...played everything on them, came up with the chords, chord inversion, etc...either I or a couple of other people have collaborated on the songs, did mostly all the vocals on the tracks...the only thing I didn't actually "play" on the tracks are the drum parts...I used Logic's virtual drummer, but still had input on what the drum parts are playing in order to fit the song...can this AI thing replace, say, bass lines and drummer parts just to get better drum and bass sound quality, yet keeping how the parts are played in tact? Bob Doyle doesn't have to respond, even that would be great...it can be anyone that has had success in doing this...Can Suno do this? Thanks for the video, and hope you and yours are well

This is exactly what I thought when I tried AI for the first time: it could be really useful for some hint for new melodies. But is it really THAT useful? I can embrace my guitar and extract 100 melodies everyday if I want, maybe with only one that I really like. On the other hand, my brain goes in certain ways either for genetic reasons or for the music I've been exposed in my lifetime (it doesn't really matter what it is...), the AI could help thinking out-of-the-box...maybe with band in a box!
