Finally! Thank you for answering the toe box question lol. Bunch of videos, nobody says anything about the boxier toe and/confirm they made it more roomier.
I swear they pulled this design from some sort of fever dream I had. I LOVED the look of the first version, but I work on uneven ground and like to go outside on my off time so the flat tennis shoe sole killed me. Now that they've got actual tread on em, it's a done deal. I've been begging for an 'issued ' looking boot that's only ankle height forever.
Wore my jungle boots back in the mid-80’s when our commandant General P.X Kelley decided he didn’t give a shit about spit and polish and allowed his grunts to wear jungle boots. Mine faired me well in Honduras and during the MARG 1-86 Med float. I Co. 3/4 Wpns. 2nd. Mar.Div. 26th. MAU. I’m 60 and I love my Goruck boots! Semper Fi!
I like the design of the new sole. Have been a fan of the updated V1s, can see how the extra additions will help for various conditions. Can’t say the few more ounces will keep me away
I have the black leather MACV-1's....the original release and the second release. The black leather model was lighter at around 14.5 ounces...the second release a slight amount heavier
I'm leery of the extra heft/weight. I use my MACV-1's for recreational backpacking -- they're great for that - and trekking across my armory's parking lot. No rappelling or fast roping. (Lowly State Guardsman here.) And even working at my law office. Don't really need a hyper-aggressive tread. GoRuck should offer two different tread options.
I’ve gone through several pairs of the original version at work and love them. Helpful to see what’s changed and ultimately what hasn’t changed. Thanks JB!
I got the macv1 in my Chuck Taylor size. Absolutely was crushing the top of the front of my great toe. Disappointing because everything else feels outstanding about them. But the good news is I've got a pair of the macv2 half a size larger on the way.
Great vid! Thank you. 💪 safe rucking! For me, the weight of a rucking shoe matters. It should not be heavy especially for uphill treks over long hours.
Two questions: 1. Would the Macv2 do well on concrete/urban environment? Or should i stick to the macv1s? 2. Would you recommend the macv2s for hiking/backpacking in rough terrain?
I tried to buy the MACV1 a few years ago, but the company didn't seem to carry inventory onhand, it's like they only managed inventory with preorders. Has that changed?
So I have two pair of MACV-1, I guess you'd call them generation 2. One pair has hundreds of road miles on them, and I'm starting to look at replacing them. (The other pair is more of an out around town style, so don't get used as hard). I normally wear an 8 in a street shoe, and all my boots, and hiking boots. I had to go to an 8.5 for the MACV-1's. They fit like a glove. I'm trying to figure out if I need to order the same size in the MACV-2 as I did the -1's.
@@JBOutside1 Thanks. Based on your video and comment, and the rsponse I got from Goruck customer service, I got the 8.5's. They fit great! Thank you for your help.
Does anyone know if the Mackalls and MACV-2s share the same sole design? I find the Mackall soles to be heavy and dense for rucking. I prefer the older MACV-1 sole density and weight.
I'm a old school Iron worker been wearing boots for 33+ years building bridges and buildings. And I tell ya anything under a 8" shaft is a shoe not boot in my opinion. But they seem like a good shoe.
@@JBOutside1 Will do! Should hopefully come in this week or early next week. Really with I had gotten the MACV1 1/2 size larger. Going to use them for some rucking, hiking, and training. The lightly treaded sole (more than the original) is perfect. Looking forward to the new ones, too, though.
Hello! Just a question about sizing on macv. Im a us9.5 27.5cm. But, it says on the goruck sizing that us9.5 is 28.9cm. Should i just follow the us sizing or insert length?
Well the have a pretty good return policy so I'd honestly get both and return the one that doesn't work. But I also followed their guidance before when they first came out and ended up getting the wrong size.
I've been looking for a good pair of non-waterproof hiking boots with a fairly aggressive tread pattern. Finding aggressive tread boots is easy, finding non-waterproof boots has been an issue. There are tons of hiking shoes out there that aren't waterproof, but they're little more than glorified running shoes. I need something that will last longer. I know these are marketed as rucking boots, but I wonder how well the MACV-2 would do for hiking. I wear hiking boots every day and have gone through several pairs. Waterproof boots, no matter what whiz-bang liner they have, make me sweat. I hate the feel of boots that won't dry. I do wear waterproof hiking boots during cooler months, but where I live that isn't very long. I would love to have a pair of that first generation with the smooth sole for work, because I walk on a hard surface all day. Like you mentioned, it would be nice to have the option of both smooth and aggressive soles.
Finally! Thank you for answering the toe box question lol. Bunch of videos, nobody says anything about the boxier toe and/confirm they made it more roomier.
You bet! you can also tell from the top down view that the toe is more rounded and a different shape.
@@JBOutside1 Great news

Nice!!! You certainly have the experience! 🫡
would like to see a Rose Anvil teardown,,,,,,,,glued or sewn sole???? so tired of glued soles separating
I hear ya!
Glued
I like the design of the new sole. Have been a fan of the updated V1s, can see how the extra additions will help for various conditions. Can’t say the few more ounces will keep me away
Cool Michael! You'll love these then
Same. I ordered a pair
I have the black leather MACV-1's....the original release and the second release.
The black leather model was lighter at around 14.5 ounces...the second release a slight amount heavier
Makes sense with the thicker sole on second gen

Totally agree. I prefer the low profile original personally
I’ve gone through several pairs of the original version at work and love them. Helpful to see what’s changed and ultimately what hasn’t changed. Thanks JB!
You bet Luke!
The design makes sense specifically for training off trail. Form function. There are other types of footwear for other tasks.
I agree

Yeah, I go true to size now on these
Great vid! Thank you. 💪 safe rucking!

Great point!

If you want one boot to do it all then YES you can use these on any terrain. These are also great off road too.
Thanks, JB!
would this make a good everyday firefighter station boo?. We have to have black and polished toes
Maybe? A bit aggressive of tread.
I wanna know how they feel walking around etc. I normally get the high top version for military. The Mac v1 I just couldn’t get in to them
I only have the one pair. Not the higher version.
@@JBOutside1 so how is it walking around in them ? How different are they compared to Mac v1
@@jbp48080 heavier feel and my first few miles have not been stellar. I think they need more break-in for me.
@@JBOutside1 Step higher. 😂
Can you give an update bro
I tried to buy the MACV1 a few years ago, but the company didn't seem to carry inventory onhand, it's like they only managed inventory with preorders. Has that changed?
They have them in stock now

I used same size for both. Slightly wider toe box but not enough to go up a size…at least not in my opinion
@@JBOutside1 Thanks. Based on your video and comment, and the rsponse I got from Goruck customer service, I got the 8.5's. They fit great! Thank you for your help.

I hope so too!

Gotcha
Rail roader here same thing anything under 8" and safety will fuck your shit up and kick you off site for wearing shoes
@@mrglowinthedark498 These aren't meant to be worn on a work site
So have you used these MAC V2 since then.
Currently loving the HI-speeds
@@JBOutside1 no way. The hi speeds I see. Are they ease to walk in. W them being gutted is it nice
What’s the length from tongue to heel ?
Yeah I don't know I'll have to try and measure that when I get home next week...what is the utility of this measurement?
Do you think there is more overall padding/cushioning in the newer or second generation than the V1
Not really, pretty much the same feel in terms of cushioning.
Would you say the MACV-2 are cushioned or are they more of a firm boot (specifically the heel area, got bad heels)
Slightly cushioned
@@JBOutside1 thanks!
So have u walked in them yet. I just got them. Wondering. Just watched the video.
Full disclosure. Yes. And I have some issues.
Hmm. Wondering if maybe I sgould have stuck with the 10 if the new toe box is a bit more open. We'll see when it comes in.
Let me know!

Since these are wider. Should i have a size down? I normally wear size 10 in sneakers and 9.5 wide in boots
I tried that and it didn’t work for me. I order same running shoe size.
So I wear 11 in GR boots. But 11.5 in Garmont boots. So should I stay w 11. Bigger toe room would be nice
I’d say yes.

Yes. I wear a 9 running shoe and I've worn 9s in the MACV-1 and 2. I experimented with an 8.5 for a while but it was definitely too small.
Bravo 👏 👏 👏 😊
👊🏻
i wish the birng back the old midsole design, the new one is too aggressive
Agree
Their marketing was all about cutting weight. Weird to see them suddenly do a heavier boot. I wish they'd close the stupid drain port though.
Haha, yeah weird. I don’t think they’ll ever remove the port

Waterproof just means your feet rot down here.
Hopefully they learn from Jedburgh because those were awfully stitched. Seemed like a mistake from a company who hasn't made boots very long at all.
Agree on that, the quality on the new versions is pretty tight!
Kills me they only have coyote... bring back brown leather!
